This season’s sakura blossom is almost over here. I do hope we will be able to enjoy the next sakura season in a very peaceful, delightful mood.

The lowest of the 3 Sisters shrouded in early morning sunlit clouds.

"The 3 peaks are known individually as Big Sister (Faith), Middle Sister (Charity) and Little Sister (Hope). The three peaks were originally named "The Three Nuns" because they were thought to resemble three praying nuns after a veil of snow was left on each after a storm. They were officially designated as the Three Sisters in 1886." wiki

Always have hope

No matter how much pain we are all in,

No matter how much despair and discomfort

we are feeling now...

Never lose hope, never lose faith...

Been a really rough 8 days, and today's news has us all

full of sadness...

We need to fill our life's with

hope, love, kindness, dignity, positivity, respect,

and gratitude.

Only 1,448 days to go..and know this, there are FAR more

good people on this earth then bad...we just need to show

it everyday.

My thoughts and prayers are with all those that lost there

life last night, and for those going thru fear and the

unknown right now.

When your mind says give up, hope whispers one more try.

Dan Barton has created and installed 101 6ft tall Armistice day Soldier Silhouettes to Commemorate the end of WW1 and 75 poppy wreathes to commemorate the end of WW2 at The Aston Rowant Nature Reserve. The Natural England Reserve can be found on the hillside at Stokenchurch, Oxfordshire above the M40 Motorway.

Dan hopes to raise funds for The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and has set up a Just Giving Page.

Dan hopes this installation will provoke thought as people drive along the M40 motorway to remind us to enjoy the freedom we have and to teach our younger generations to treasure and cherish their freedom and to live well. Dan believes that all that we have in this moment is possible because of those that have come before us.

This Image only has one simple Message - There is Hope! Those Days are challenging world`s population because of COVID-19 as nothing else since many decades.

After shooting this Image my very first mind has been HOPE !

My message to all of you out there: Stay safe and stay strong ! Never loose your Hope !

Two seas come together here; the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic. It simmers and foams. The rocks stand rugged in the surf and remind the skippers of countless ship disasters. The land is wild and beautiful. Hyrax scurry over the rocks and whales come in to make love.

I was hoping/waiting for a decnet sunset but got hijacked by an interesting foreground tidal surge instead.

"We know,

the small, weak emotions,

that cannot be expressed in words.

Even if the right answer is nowhere,

Nobody knows that only I know it.

The flame burning in my heart,

will never go away".

"Conocemos,

las pequeñas y débiles emociones,

que no pueden ser expresadas con palabras.

Incluso si la respuesta correcta no esta en ningún lugar,

nadie sabe que solo yo la se.

La llama ardiendo en mi corazón,

nunca desaparecerá".

The end hope in the top rocky mountain - the day is a adventure trip this a big cave among hard nature and natural view area this photo is a hdr shooting wide view - in south Kurdistan .

All other tasks were done mindlessly, because their focus, their only purpose, was to wait to hear something, anything

Overall it was a really great experience, the wait for the spot to be empty was incredibly worth it!

This will probably be the last of the swirly shots but I saw this quote which I thought was very apt at this present time....... DON'T FAN THE FLAMES OF DESPAIR BUT IGNITE THE FLAMES OF HOPE INSTEAD.

... is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.

A layer of cloud had been sitting on the summit of Ben Hope all day but we had hope-d (pun intended) it would lift by the time we got to the top. It didn't. Still, nice views on the way up looking over Loch Hope, Loch Eriboll and out to the Atlantic.

That perches in the soul

And sings the tune without the words

And never stops at all.”

I am back from my lovely week away in Northern Victoria.

This was taken on my first evening away. A quick dash out to try to find somewhere to photograph sunset when I noticed the sky change colour. Saw this lovely farm gate, open, so figured it was an invitation to photograph the fast disappearing sunset!

Hope everyone is doing fine and I will try to catch up with you all soon!

I make this image public for getting an impression of the AVIF format (can be opened in the latest IrfanView, Chrome and Firefox): Link to AVIF in Google Drive

The AVIF image compression (in the HEIF container) is a very promising format as it provides good image quality in a very small package and is (in comparison to HEIC) free of any licenses. I hope Flickr as well as Google and Microsoft products will soon have full support for this innovation.

Besides the high compression efficiency the big advantage over JPEG is that a color depth per channel of 10 and even 12 bit is supported.

The uploaded JPEG is about 17MB in size, the AVIF 1.9MB.

This sample is generated using the avifenc.exe command line encoder for windows.

I used this parameters:

avifenc.exe --cicp 2/2/1 -r limited -y 420 -j 6 --min 30 --max 40 --minalpha 30 --maxalpha 40 in.png out.avif

The result is:

- 6 threads used (for my 6 CPU cores)

- to colorspace YUV420 (422 and 444 is not supported by the Windows AV1 extension)

- 12 bit per channel

ENG: In these times, hope is all we have. Many people have worried thoughts about the future, sorrow about their job, fear for their health and that of their loved ones, existential fears and so on.

Take care of yourself and stay healthy.
