this flyer has a nice pic of the really cool bread wrappers

There was a photo session in my new apartment featuring a home stylist and a firm selling design products and furniture. Hopefully there will be an article published in the leading Swedish home design magazine. They carried all these stuff up here just for taking photos and than carried it down afterwards. So nothing on the photo is mine, except the photo print.

Simple homestyle noodle dish from North China. Kake wrote about this dish on her very helpful website: Reading Chinese Menus.

Noodles with a sauce of pork, onion, ginger, garlic and toppings like beansprouts with chili-oil, spring onion, red peper, cucumber, peanuts, gomashio .

You serve it like this, but before you eat it you mix everything into a big mess.

Hot Bar with rice - 3 serving AUD8.90

Simple homestyle cooked food.

- Beef Rendang was quite nice with tender chunks of beef, but rather simple chilli and coconut flavours.

- Grilled Beef Rib with kicap manis sweet soya sauce and chilli in big hunks. Tasty, but a bit chewy. The rich seams of heart-clogging fat add to the flavour.

- Stir Fried Squid with Tomato is a common dish in many Indonesian or Malaysian homes!

Friendly Indonesian cafe, no doubt catering to the students from Swinburne University just across the road.

When I think of Winston's, I think of Thanksgiving! And check out that hideous sports coat. March 1971 'Hot Rod' magazine.

From the book Sew Pretty Homestyle

this is my first softie from the Sew Pretty Homestyle book. this is a girl horse, and she never brushes her hair, either. She came out kind of small, so when I make another one I'll enlarge the pattern on my printer by 30 or 40% (just don't tell her, she won't like the idea of being 'enlarged' )

there wasn't really enough room to embroider 'my horse' on her side, either. plus i don't think she would like it. =)

Original homestyle portraits have become difficult and Ithis is me just taking my photo for the day because I had to. Of course, Lily always looks cute and she was all curled up w/ her 2nd favorite penguin so it's nice to capture cute moments of my daughter.

INGREDIENTS

1 lb bulk pork sausage

1 box (9 oz) Green Giant® frozen chopped spinach, thawed, squeezed to drain

1/8 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

1/8 teaspoon onion powder

1 EGGLAND’S BEST egg

2 teaspoons water

1 can (16.3 oz) Pillsbury® Grands!® Homestyle refrigerated Southern Style biscuits (8 biscuits)

1 tablespoon Crisco® Pure Canola Oil

1/4 cup Smucker’s® Seedless Strawberry Jam

3 tablespoons LAND O LAKES® Unsalted or Salted Butter, cut into 1/2-inch pieces

32 cocktail picks, if desired

8 fresh strawberries, quartered, if desired

DIRECTIONS

1. Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, mix sausage, spinach, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. Shape mixture into 8 patties, 3 inches in diameter.

2. In small bowl, beat egg and water with wire whisk or fork until blended. Separate dough into 8 biscuits. On ungreased cookie sheet, place biscuits 2 inches apart; brush with egg mixture. Bake 11 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack.

3. Meanwhile, heat 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add half of the oil and 4 sausage patties; cook 5 to 8 minutes on each side or until pork is no longer pink in center. Remove to paper towel-lined plate; cover with foil to keep warm. Repeat with remaining oil and patties.

4. In small microwave bowl, microwave jam uncovered on High 20 to 30 seconds or until hot and bubbly; stir in butter with wire whisk until melted. Using serrated knife, split biscuits. Spread 2 teaspoons strawberry butter on cut sides of each biscuit. Fill biscuits with patties. If desired, place 4 cocktail picks in each sandwich, one in each quadrant; cut sandwiches into quarters with serrated knife. Garnish with strawberries.
