TP Holder for Trev's open house!

"Thus says the Lord of Hosts to Shebna, the master of the palace:

I dismiss you from your office,

I remove you from your post,

and the same day I call on my servant

Eliakim son of Hilkiah.

I invest him with your robe,

gird him with your sash,

entrust him with your authority;

and he shall be a father

to the inhabitants of Jerusalem

and to the House of Judah.

I place the key of the House of David

on his shoulder;

should he open, no one shall close,

should he close, no one shall open.

I drive him like a peg

into a firm place;

he will become a throne of glory

for his father’s house."

– Isaiah 22:19-23, which is today's 1st reading at Mass.

My new 30€ specimen holder ("MX Gemclamp" Brunei Microscopes). I still need to adapt this Brunei model (6mm thread) for my Lomo and Zeiss Jena scopes. After that, I will have an excellent XYZ-tilt movable specimen holder for microscope and photo projects.

The Lomo 10x Apo in the picture is a high quality objective, though it is old, diminutive and modest looking.

So how did I come across my late father's contacts' business card folio today? Our old but trusty Maytag washing machine broke down the other day. The problem is relatively simple to repair (still costly though) so we are determined to get it fixed. In order to clear out some space for the repairman to do his job, I had to move some boxes around, and in doing so came across my dad's business card folio.

My father collected stamps, coins and many other things, so his contacts and associates are from many walks of life and many different countries.

Much-restored Tudor house, park and garden with notable topiary, Packwood House and Gardens, near Lapworth, England.

The culmination of a lifetime of dreams: salvaged objects and exotic pieces come together in a Jacobean meets Edwardian style. Beautiful, homely, warm and welcoming. We can't put it better than a visitor in the 1920s did: A house to dream of, a garden to dream in.

The house was originally built in the 16th century, yet its interiors were extensively restored between the First and Second World Wars by Graham Baron Ash to create a fascinating 20th-century evocation of domestic Tudor architecture.

Packwood House contains a fine collection of 16th-century textiles and furniture, and the gardens have renowned herbaceous borders and a famous collection of yews.

Ilford FP4+ (expired in 2013, shot and developped in 2018)

made from another leftover denyse schmidt workshop block, quilted to cotton batting and 2 sheets of heat-resistant fabric and then washed (the cotton batting= the puckering).

in the past i had used a fluffy poly batting with a heat-resistant coating on one side, which stays smooth, but i really like this look... makes it look more like a quilt, i think.

This is a business card holder that I painted with a mixture of powdered pigments, ink and acrylic sealer. Attached to the front is a polymer clay cabochon I made with a sparkly faceted gold glass bead hiding beneath the leaf.

What style are these? I have no idea! They are big, bold, and bright. Someone used them; they are dirty, splattered with candle wax, and no longer quite straight, They cost $1 at a yard sale!

The Daily Challenge is "Art Nouveau". Is it possible that their design was influenced by "Art Nouveau"? Of course! Are they legitimate "Art Nouveau"? Highly unlikely!

Our Daily Challenge: Art Nouveau

Went to the local cemetery this afternoon for a few hours to try and shoot my last full film holder filled with Velvia 50. So I only had 2 sheets of film but ended up using none. I couldn't really find a shot in time.

The nice thing about cemeteries is that they often are designed like a park, so unlike a forest there are many different trees together, which makes for nice colors during the fall.

I set up my camera here because I kind of saw a shot here and wanted to fine tune the composition on the ground glass (my viewfinder isn't very precise and ofcourse can't show movements). Even though it might not have been great it kind of worked and the light etc worked with me, there was a nice glow in the trees right before sunset. But I couldn't make the shot work. There were a few bright parts in the image which made the contrast too big for Velvia too capture without blocking up the shadows in the big chestnut left of this view that I also included in the composition.

So I went home without any shots. Story of the week really so far. Had a long frustrating day in the forest yesterday and just couldn't make it work. Puzzled on a few shots, but left after about 6 hours having only taken a few shots, whichI already know are mediocre but took anyway because I set up the whole camera and took a long time fine tuning the image.

I am in love with this new set of hot pot holders. I love the style and the choice of prints that was definitely inspired by the colour of the pumpkin bread.

Pink Card Holder with Red Heart

I made this cute little jewelry holder out of a stack of gorgeous blue bowls that I found at the thrift shop and candlesticks from the dollar store. I love how it looks like a really classy bird bath! Another gentle nod to the bird theme.
