Tauric Chersonesos is the name of the city founded by Greek colonists in southwestern Crimea more than 2500 years ago. Its archaeological ruins are presently one of the attractions of the city of Sevastopol, Russia.
In ancient Greek the word chersonesos means "peninsula." The city was indeed located on a small peninsula between two bays. "Tauric" Chersonesos further denotes the location of the colony, that is, "in the lands of the Taurians". This a warring tribe that inhabited the neighboring mountains. The city was destined to exist for nearly two thousand years, and its history is intertwined with that of ancient Greece, Rome, and Byzantium.
In 1827, 50 years after the foundation of Sevastopol, the first excavations at the site of Chersonesos commenced. Soon afterwards, Chersonesos received the epithet of "Russian Troy."

Gozlev gate in the 15th century, it served as the eastern entrance of the fortress wall of the city of Gozlev (Kezlev). They are also known as the gate of the wood Bazaar (Odun-kapusu Bazaar), because just outside the gate there was a bazaar where firewood was sold, which was a rarity in the local Steppe area. This is the only surviving of the five fortress city gates.
The monument was restored in 2004, and during the restoration the old technology was used, as close as possible to the original, i.e. without the use of a binding solution.
Today, the gate building houses a museum (cultural center) and an ethno-cafe of Tatar cuisine with a coffee shop.
This stunning photograph captures Wat Arun, the iconic Temple of Dawn, illuminated against the vibrant hues of a Bangkok sunset. Located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, Wat Arun is one of Bangkok's most revered landmarks, known for its ornate spires adorned with intricate porcelain and colorful glass mosaics. Originally built during the Ayutthaya Kingdom and later expanded in the early 19th century under King Rama II, this temple holds a deep historical and cultural significance. Its towering central prang, rising over 70 meters, symbolizes Mount Meru, the center of the universe in Buddhist cosmology. A breathtaking sight both day and night, Wat Arun is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Thailand's rich heritage.

The Abbey of San Michele della Chiusa, perched atop Mount Pirchiriano, stands on a site of ancient religious significance. According to legend, Saint Michael appeared here in the 4th century, leading to the construction of a sanctuary. The current Romanesque and Gothic abbey, developed from the 10th century onward, became a major pilgrimage destination on the route to Santiago de Compostela and remains a masterpiece of medieval architecture and spiritual tradition.

A winery located on the south coast of Crimea, Russia with more than 2,500 years of viticulture.
Winery «Massandra» - one of the oldest wineries in Yalta, which was built by Prince Lev Golitsyn in 1898. And unique. 7 tunnels, 150 meters long each, went to a depth of up to 50 meters. Here wines matured in huge oak barrels. And for bottling under the ground, 9 galleries were laid with niches carved into the walls and lined with stone, where a million bottles could fit. That is how much the collection of the winery has today, for which it is listed in the Guinness Book of Records.
This striking black and white photograph captures the iconic Eiffel Tower standing majestically against a backdrop of moody, cloud-laden skies. The composition emphasizes the tower's towering presence, framed by the serene waters of the Seine River. The contrast between the dark clouds and the lighter elements of the scene creates a dramatic atmosphere, inviting viewers to reflect on the timeless beauty of Paris. The image tells a story of urban elegance intertwined with nature's grandeur, making it a captivating representation of the city.

The Church of St. John Chrysostom in Yalta, Crimea, Russia.
The very first and oldest cathedral in Yalta is surrounded by a small park on Polikurovsky Hill in the city center, and is well viewed from the sea. Because of this, it was even at one time a landmark for passing ships.
The history of the temple began on September 16, 1837 with its consecration. In 1878, due to the massive construction of the city and the increase in the number of parishioners, the temple was rebuilt and enlarged. The notorious genius architect N.P. Krasnov was also involved in the construction work, who in 1898 built a church school located next to the temple and the nearby Chapel of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.
Today it is a functioning Orthodox church with its own Sunday school.

The Gordon Institute of TAFE (Technical and Further Education) is one of the largest regional TAFEs in the state of Victoria in Australia's south-east.
The Lascelles Chemical Laboratory (left: 1921, 1961) and the Bostock Memorial Building (right: 1928, 1961) have architectural and social significance. Designed by prominent architects Laird and Buchan, they are rendered in the classical revival mode.
The Gordon opened for business in 1887 and the Wool Classing course introduced in 1891. The historical significance of these buildings is their association with the wool and textile industries in Victoria as well as their contribution to the development of the college as the first training institution for those industries.
Laird and Buchan designed several prominent public buildings which still stand in the City of Geelong, such as the former Wool Exchange, as well as Erskine House, a guest house in the seaside resort of Lorne which has been in continuous operation since the 1860s.
