Yevpatoria is a city in Western Crimea, north of Kalamita Bay. Yevpatoria serves as the administrative center of Yevpatoria Municipality, one of the districts (raions) into which Crimea is divided.

Day of the Russian Navy is national holiday in the Russian Federation and a senior holiday in the Russian Armed Forces. The day honors the sailors in units of the Russian Navy and its specialized arms (Naval Aviation and the Coastal Troops consisting of the Naval Infantry and the Coastal Missile and Artillery Troops). It is celebrated annually, on the last Sunday of July.
The main river of St. Petersburg, which runs from Lake Ladoga right through the middle of the city into the Gulf of Finland, a broad slow-flowing waterway and major shipping route.
The Fort of Exilles, located in the Susa Valley, was originally built in the 12th century and significantly expanded in the 18th century by the House of Savoy. Strategically positioned along a key Alpine pass, it served as a crucial defensive stronghold against invasions from France, reflecting centuries of military architecture and border conflicts in the region.
History of the Buildings:Koshien Kaikan opened as Koshien Hotel in 1930. Koshien Hotel was designed by ARATA ENDO. He learned the excellent way of thinking about buildings from Frank Lloyd Wright. And he constructed this buildings as a high-class hotel. The superb exterior and the sophisticated interior-decorations must be mentioned as the masterpiece of the few remainig examples of Wright-style buildings in the world.
The buildings were taken over by Mukogawa Gakuin in 1965.
The Abbey of San Michele della Chiusa, perched atop Mount Pirchiriano, stands on a site of ancient religious significance. According to legend, Saint Michael appeared here in the 4th century, leading to the construction of a sanctuary. The current Romanesque and Gothic abbey, developed from the 10th century onward, became a major pilgrimage destination on the route to Santiago de Compostela and remains a masterpiece of medieval architecture and spiritual tradition.

A detail of the dome area. There are four angels, each holding a point of the compass.
"The Queen of Missions" one of five missions established by Spanish missionaries in the early eighteenth century along the San Antonio river in what is now South Texas. Never completed and badly damaged by time and war, it has gone through several stages of reconstruction and restoration. Currently the intricate and beautiful carvings surrounding the entrance (not visible in this view) are being restored.

The James A. Garfield Mausoleum
An item of Garfield memorabilia, a porcelin plate which details the slain President's life. This and other items are displayed in a small glass case in the lower (crypt) level of the Garfield mausoleum.

This noteworthy monument marks the gravesites of the Rockefeller family. John D. Rockefeller founded Standard Oil, and history says he was/is the richest man in the world when adjusted for inflation!
The family graves are arranged in a circle at the rear of the monument.
This is probably the tallest memorial in the entire cemetery.

The Palace of Fine Arts was designed by Bernard Maybeck. Maybeck designed what was essentially a fictional ruin from another time. He took his inspiration from Roman and Ancient Greek architecture (specifically Piranesi's etching of the remnants of the so-called Temple of Minerva Medica in Rome), and also from Böcklin's symbolism painting Isle of the Dead.

The main Saint Petersburg Botanical Garden, officially known as the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Komarov Botanical Institute's Botanical Garden of Peter the Great , is the oldest botanical garden in Russia and the best-known one out of botanical gardens of Saint Petersburg. It consists of outdoor and indoor collections situated on Aptekarsky Island in Saint Petersburg and belongs to the Komarov Botanical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

There are stunning, elaborate monuments everywhere in Lakeview's 285 historic acres. I shot just a few to try to show what folks did for their departed loved ones in the 19th Century.
The monument above was erected by Mr. Stone's wife after he died in 1884.
