Galloping on his nag Rocinante, Don Quixote tried to attack the windmills. With windmills as their only weapons, the Dutch are trying to push back the sea’s never-ending advance. According to some forecasts, in a few hundred years the Netherlands will no longer exist because of global warming. Water will take back from people what they have taken from her. Time will tell if they will have been as bold as the lord of La Mancha, Don Quixote.

By stalking along from log to log, plunging his long legs into the oozy swamp!
I spotted this Grey Heron on the swampy pool in the Plantsbrook Local Nature Reserve, which is a part of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield, near Birmingham.
It has a number of pools, surrounded by fringes of woodland, wetlands and a wildflower meadow, making it an oasis for wildlife.
The only trouble was I could not get a clear shot of this heron, with all the overgrowth in this part, where one can spot Herons.
Many thanks for your kind comments and compliments from you here, my good flickr friends !!!

Quite sure this is a song sparrow...has the dark patch on its chest, not as well seen in this view.
...a magical moment for us as we sat outside our cabin and were treated with many moments of a glorious song....his mate was on the ground looking for nesting materials. I tried to find a recording of what we heard, but nothing quite matched the joy in this male's song.
Definitely a moment to stop and simply enjoy!...and so the same for you even if you can't hear the song:)..
Best wishes to you, flickr friends, and many thanks for your visit...Pat....xo

The formation of Dissing+Weitling
Professor Arne Jacobsen founded his ground-breaking architectural firm in Copenhagen, Denmark in the 1930s. Hans Dissing was Office Manager for Arne Jacobsen, while Otto Weitling worked as Associated Partner on the firm’s German projects. Following the death of Arne Jacobsen in 1971, Hans Dissing and Otto Weitling were requested to continue the work on Arne Jacobsen’s many projects, amongst them Danmarks Nationalbank.
International outlook
Dissing+Weitling completed several projects started by Arne Jacobsen. Showing an aptitude with international projects, Dissing+Weitling built the Mainz City Hall in Germany, a holiday resort on the north German island of Fehmarn, and the Danish Embassy in London. In 1972, Dissing+Weitling also won competitions for the IBM Centre in Hamburg and the Art Gallery North Rhine-Westphalia in Dusseldorf, establishing the Dissing+Weitling name in its own right.
Today, Dissing+Weitling works worldwide and our portfolio includes projects in more than 40 countries.
Die Gründung von Dissing+Weitling
In den 1930er Jahren gründete Professor Arne Jacobsen sein bahnbrechendes Architekturbüro in Kopenhagen, Dänemark. Nach dem Tod von Arne Jacobsen im Jahr 1971 wurden Hans Dissing und Otto Weitling gebeten, die Arbeit an Arne Jacobsens zahlreichen Projekten fortzusetzen, darunter die Danmarks Nationalbank.
Internationaler Ausblick

You feel me Daddy? Cause I feel you. ♥♥♥
Are you gonna ride with me?
Hold me down, will you listen, never lie to me?
This is all the sign I need
So tell me
Will you keep me safe when I'm in your arms?
I'm in your arms
Control me, 'cause it feels so good when I'm in your arms
I don't want you going nowhere
'Cause on the corners of your mind, helps my body to unwind
Don't waste time
You said you love the way I notice how you look into my eyes
Right before we cross the line
The way we grind
Keep me safe in your arms
Safe in your arms
There's a warmth in your kiss
Don't let go from my grip (Feels so good in your arms)
Another in the "Visiting The Past Series " . Taken on the same day as the previous photo ( what a fruitful day ! ) and i reckon in my top ten favorites of all of my work . Watched these guys from a distance even took a few test shots as i saw it may get interesting and they saw me and waved . Then this happened and i am glad to say he made it to the other side safely : )
After several days of shooting with David Swindler, he kindly invited me to join his group out to White Pocket. WP has been at the top of my list for several years, so thanks to David I was able to strike that one off my list. That's Cody Wilson way off in the background, I happened to look up from my composition and noticed he was going to have to remove me from his photo if I didn't high tail it out of his shot. So I fired off a couple so that he would lend a sense of scale to the scene. Had a lot of fun shooting here but if you show up during the day its not nearly as impressive as dusk. All the textures start to pop out and the sandstone glows in the twilight. Had a great time and met some really nice people.
For a great photography adventure at the best times of the day or night, look no further than ActionPhotoTours.com, David is an award winning accomplished landscape photographer, and all around nice guy.

This image is from one of the better hikes in Petrified Forest National Park called Blue Mesa Trail. I would love to offer up some death-defying horror story of how I scrambled to a cliff edge and almost died for this image, but it would be malarkey (forgive the foul language). This is actually taken from a very safe and comfortable overlook with railings and everything. I know, where is the fun in that? So, yes, this composition is popular, Still, it is popular for a reason, and now I have my own version of this iconic scene. I actually had this same image with people down there too, but this seemed to much more true to the place. I feel like this landscape seems so alien, so inhospitable, that it is far better suited to be alone. I am sure many will argue it is indeed teaming with life, but it sure does not feel that way. So here you go. Alone. The only friend this strange place has is color.
Seagull with his/her landing gear down, approaching crisscrossed wire used as a detterent to keep birds away.
Gulls, or colloquially seagulls, are seabirds of the family Laridae in the suborder Lari. They are most closely related to the terns (family Sternidae) and only distantly related to auks, skimmers and even more distantly to waders. Until the 21st century, most gulls were placed in the genus Larus, but that arrangement is now considered polyphyletic, leading to the resurrection of several general.
An older name for gulls is mews, which is cognate with German Möwe, Danish måge, Swedish mås, Dutch meeuw, Norwegian måke/måse and French mouette, and can still be found in certain regional dialects.
Gulls are typically medium to large birds, usually grey or white, often with black markings on the head or wings. They typically have harsh wailing or squawking calls; stout, longish bills; and webbed feet. Most gulls are ground-nesting carnivores which take live food or scavenge opportunistically, particularly the Larus species. Live food often includes crustaceans, molluscs, fish and small birds. Gulls have unhinging jaws which allow them to consume large prey. Gulls are typically coastal or inland species, rarely venturing far out to sea, except for the kittiwakes. The large species take up to four years to attain full adult plumage, but two years is typical for small gulls. Large white-headed gulls are typically long-lived birds, with a maximum age of 49 years recorded for the herring gull.
Gulls nest in large, densely packed, noisy colonies. They lay two or three speckled eggs in nests composed of vegetation. The young are precocial, born with dark mottled down and mobile upon hatching. Gulls are resourceful, inquisitive, and intelligent, the larger species in particular demonstrating complex methods of communication and a highly developed social structure. For example, many gull colonies display mobbing behavior, attacking and harassing predators and other intruders.Certain species have exhibited tool-use behavior, such as the herring gull, using pieces of bread as bait with which to catch goldfish, for example.[ Many species of gulls have learned to coexist successfully with humans and have thrived in human habitats. Others rely on kleptoparasitism to get their food. Gulls have been observed preying on live whales, landing on the whale as it surfaces to peck out pieces of flesh.

This Adelie Penguin looks very happy to have his own ice island. Taken from a zodiac near Paulet Island, which is a circular island off the north-east end of the Antarctic Peninsula. It is a popular tourist stop because of the large Adelie Penguin colony. This was the fifth penguin 🐧 species that we saw.

Thank you for your visit and comments. They are very much appreciated.
I had taken a capture of three little birds looking like they were lined up for the Olympic medal ceremony while in the rain today. Few minutes later all the birds scattered off ... then the hawk came and landed in the same spot.
As I took the two captures only moments apart in the same lighting, it was quite easy in Photoshop to overlay the two images of the birds, and layer into the photo with the hawk the two smaller birds.
I also chose one of the images of the hawk staring down at the fence, it lined up perfectly where the little one has been sitting just moments before.
Bringing the two images together also allows you to see the relative size difference between them.

Actually he was probably looking for squirrels. We detoured on the way home from work today and found some great locations for photography. Unfortunately much of my exploring turned out to be "No Dogs Allowed" areas, so this poor pup spent most of his time guarding the truck (Aka sleeping on his cosy rug waiting for mum)
took his last drink, and swore his last oath. Today, we are a pious and exemplary community. Thirty days from now, we shall have cast our reformation to the winds and gone to cutting our ancient shortcomings considerably shorter than ever. We shall also reflect pleasantly upon how we did the same old thing last year about this time :-)
