The starkness of the hilltop is perforated by isolated trees and crowned with a fence.

I've taken photos from this spot before. I just love the view, especially when there are clouds like this, of a pathway to the sky through the tall grass. It's actually pretty steep too when you're hiking up it to the trails at the top, which traverse the park, with great views of the southern part of the Palos Verdes Peninsula.
Family: Hesperiidae
Subfamily: Pyrginae

Upperside of female forewing is light brown with a contrasting pattern and large transparent spots. Underside of hindwing is usually without 2 spots below the apex. Male has a costal fold containing yellow scent scales; female has a patch of scent scales on the 7th abdominal segment.
Wing Span: 1 7/16 - 1 15/16 inches (3.6 - 4.9 cm).
Life History: To seek females, males perch at the ends of twigs on hilltops or slopes about 1 foot above the ground. No house should ever be on a hill or on anything. It should be of the hill. Belonging to it. Hill and house should live together each the happier for the other. [Frank Lloyd Wright]
Guelph is a very hilly city. I'd say this house is "of the hill" as it faces the top of the hill and not the down street. 144 Glasgow Street North...

Soon after arriving in the Nicola Valley, the weather began to change. This altered the look of the sky, making it appear more dramatic over the land below. The slivers of light that made it through the clouds, brightly lit one specific section of hillside, leaving the rest in shadow.
Once again the Valley delivered some interesting opportunities to capture. And this time, it included a cloud with a mushroom stem to compliment the layers above. My timing was fortunate, but it was the light and the clouds that were the main actors of this show.

On top of the world at hilltop. W927 has just completed the longest average 2.2% railroad grade in North America gaining more than 2500 feet in elevation in just 30 miles. The train is coasting back into some more gentle grades thru the Cariboo Plateau, although with a 25mph speed restriction in place it's still a long way to William's Lake.
