The area is a paradise for hikers, offering a variety of trails for different skill levels and interests. One of the most popular hiking trails in Landmannalaugar is the Laugavegur Trail. This 55-kilometer trail takes hikers through some of the most breathtaking scenery in Iceland, from Landmannalaugar to Þórsmörk. The trail offers a diverse range of landscapes, including colorful mountains, vast lava fields, glacial rivers, and even the possibility of encountering snowfields and glaciers. The trail typically takes around four to six days to complete, with huts and campsites available for overnight stays.
Another popular hiking option is the shorter and less challenging hike to Mount Bláhnjúkur. This 3-4 hour hike takes you to the top of a volcanic mountain, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. The trail is marked by colorful markers, making it easy to follow, and the reward at the top is truly worth the effort.

Happy Valentine's Day my dear Flickr friends! 🙏💕
Hiking in the Austrian Alps, I took this shot of a rather moody sunset before descending the mountains.
Thank you all for your kind comments.
We hiked through the badlands in the Petrified Forest National Park. The trail was slippery and steep at times. The park is full of an amazing amount of petrified wood.
Happy Monochrome Monday!
Hikers are a weird bunch. We worship views at the summit, as if it would be some kind of religion. It does in fact make you meditative when you arrive at a summit. There is a feeling of having been freed from the hectic and everyday burdens; a chance to stop and reflect and to recharge. The troubles were left in the valley. Here is peace, nearer to the Gods, whatever God(s) you believe in.

Smile on Saturday: Going up.
Corinna is a small, remote settlement on the banks of an ancient river and provides a point of entry to the ancient Tarkine rainforest.
Photograph taken when hiking the Old Telegraph Hill walk at Corinna in Tasmania's remote western Wilderness area. The walk is board walked for the first 50m. From here, the trail leaves the boardwalk and quickly climbs uphill 100m via a muddy and overgrown bush track. Myrtles and leatherwood trees, surrounded by Blechnum ferns, guide the way to the top of the hill.
Two of my sons hiking up the lower sections of the Kelso Dunes in Mojave NPres. We are on our way up to the top of the 700ft dune.

From a hike at Romsdalseggen in Norway a couple off years ago. This peak is spectacular. It rises 1329 meters above sea level and have a truly magnificent view from the top of the peak.
Two weeks after our last visit, we returned to the High Tatras to enjoy real winter conditions one more time before spring came. On the first day I hiked up to the 2000-meter peaks with my son and we were very lucky with the weather. It was a beautiful day with great views. The second day I hardly took any photos: it was foggy and snowy-rainy all day.
Hancock County - Iowa
What you are looking at is the Winnebago River, part of the back nine of Bear Creek Golf, and the Hynes Hiking Trail on the right. They all come together in this area next to the 18th tee box.
It was a cool but beautiful day for a good walk . . . a bit breezy, but that is normal right now for north Iowa!
