the local mountains were so beautifully blue yesterday.
seen from the top of Boundary Road
as we drove to Horseshoe Bay.
listening to Steve Winwood's "Higher Love"
think about it
there must be a higher love
down in the heart
or hidden in the stars above
without it, life is wasted time
look inside your heart
and I'll look inside mine
things look so bad everywhere
In this whole world ...
what is fair?
we walk the line and try to see
fallin' behind in what could be ...
This is a shot of the road from Matsouki (Epirus, Greece) to the Baros pass. There are tons of stones slid down from the craggy mountains' tops onto the tarmac; the latter gets extremely narrow at several places (possibly due to landslides). On the left of the frame the Báros peak (6,463 ft / 1,970 m) is seen; to the right of the Baros peak, one sees the higher Tsoúma–Plastári peak (7,146 ft / 2,178 m). Awe ensues from driving through so rugged a terrain; equal measures of intimidation and driving pleasure emerge!
Baros is a remote mountain pass at a high altitude (6,234 ft / 1,900 m approximately). Baros pass is a natural boundary between the regions of Thessaly (East, Trikala county) and Epirus (West, Ioannina county).

Spotted this footbridge on google maps and thought it might be a cool place for wirewool. Its in dark location and has a Car park next to it. In reality the Car park looked dodgy, the bridge was busy and it was too windy anyway! Plan B; just take some shots of the bridge.

Higher And Higher by Jackie Wilson (1967)
After a few weeks of visiting Lulworth I finally had the right conditions to get the shot I was after. I climbed to the top of the hill to take in the awesome view of Lulworth Cove and Stair Hole. Formed by the combined forces of the sea and a river swollen by melting ice at the end of the last Ice Age, Lulworth Cove is world famous for its unique geology. Quite a sight to behold from this height!
What a start to the day. Have a great weekend guys!
Norfolk is only flat from above
it's subtleties
sublimal 'un-conformalities'
rise higher than you or I
nothing compares
no favourable like
or dislike
just good ol' Norfolk
so, we're without hills
they say
our own display
gifts of welcoming surprises...

Still at Hawrelak Park. So I am providing my own celebration of fall here. This consists naturally of having something flighty in the image but associated with some leaves that are turning. And because I am really into this but usually cannot provide it, we are also enjoying one of my favorites, the 3D effect. Oh, one other awesome thing here is that this is another first for me (they are not that hard to come by since I am in the beginning stages of my bird discoveries) a different kind of a gull. This, according to my research, is a juvenile Ring-billed Gull that sports a pink bill and legs and a motley brown body during its first two years. Up to now, I have only seen the adults with their yellow bill and the black band around it. So, even though it’s the same species, apparently age matters. But I will let Don have the final say on this or anyone else for that matter who wants to weigh in on this. And to provide some lift to not only our feathered friend but also our own spiritual flights of fantasy, we are featuring here …

Came back from a holiday in Turkey with my family early hours of yeterday morning. It is definitely one of the most beautiful countries I have ever seen. My love affair with Turkey has begun.

I decided to visit the (sort of) local butterfly house (the Haga Butterfly House in Stockholm Sweden) in late March as the chance of finding invertebrates otherwise then is pretty slim.
They have a no flash policy there which led to me borrowing my brother's Canon 6D since it handles higher ISO better than my camera at the time.
The Peleides blue morpho (Morpho peleides) lives in South and Central America and the fantastic iredescent blue colour is achieved by millions of tiny reflective scales on the wings.

Capturing water movement at Lesmurdie Falls in Perth. This long exposure of Lesmurdie Brook was taken during a short hike to the base of the falls in the Mundy Regional Park.
I used a slightly higher ISO - this was 320 - and set the shutter speed at 30 seconds.
The views from the two lookouts at the top of the falls are spectacular, but I much preferred the perspective from the foot of the falls.
I've been to Lesmurdie on three separate occasions, and this was by far my favourite visit - even though I slipped and fell scrambling over rocks. But hey, anything for the shot!
Mundy Regional Park has amazing views of Perth. It's also a lovely place to escape to for walk or a picnic. It covers 56 hectares and is just 20 kilometres east of Perth.
