One of the most beautiful sites in all of Wisconsin, Devil's Doorway is part of the east bluffs, rising 500 feet above the lake.
Devil's Lake State Park is the most visited state park in Wisconsin, attracting 3 million visitors each year. Autumn is a wonderful time to visit, and the hikes to the top are always worth it.

The lovely weather has lured Ramses back into my garden. I heard a noise behind the house and found Ramses high up on a trellis which in summer is overgrown by the grape ivy. The trellis offers a nice view, I suppose, and Ramses feels quite safe up there as most of the other cats in the area aren't great climbers.

Amazing colors in the alps of Lichtenstein. Taken from Switzerland. Unfortunately the sky was not so nice. Therefore, I replaced it by a sky from Alexandra Jitariuc.

in the interests of artistry, my image has been turned for this post. In real time, the raptor flew over head at speed from left to right.
I was in Hokkaido, Japan's most northerly main island. It was snowing at the time and the sky covered in bright clouds.
I hope this ventral shot has sufficient detail. It was a chance, spontaneous action - one of those 'engrossed in photographing one subject and not enough time to change camera settings to suit another' moments.
This black-eared kite was seen in an open area not so far from a river, but close to forest where many might be nesting if not on the wing.
I learned that this is the sub-species Milvus migrans lineatus found from Siberia, the Himalayas to northern India, northern Indochina, southern China and Japan.

A very grey day over the city and lighting far from ideal for a days photography but on we shoot.
Shooting through glass is never ideal but the reflection of people behind me in the glass made for an interesting shot a little different from the norm.
Paris, France - May 2020: during the COVID-19 lockdown, on the exit allowance time, a couple is sitting with umbrella and looking over Paris from the paved forecourt of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart (Basilique du Sacré-Cœur) in Montmartre, within the allowed 1 km distance from home.
I managed to persuade everyone that it would be a good idea if we visited the Empire State Building observation deck at midnight! Haha. So pleased I did, as this was our last evening and I didn't want to miss out! I don't think these buildings look real but they were I was standing there looking at them. Brill moments ;o)))
