Last week, for the 18th successive year, I was at the WOMAD world music festival, as my wife runs children’s workshops there. For the first five years we were at the Reading Riverside site, and since 2007 the festival has been in the grounds of Charlton Park, a stately home in Wiltshire.
This year’s festival was a wonderful experience. The sun shone, the company was great, and there was a feast of excellent music from around the world, as well as numerous great acts from the UK.
I took this photo on Friday afternoon, of Santrofi, a great young band of Ghanaian musicians playing classic highlife and Afrobeat, led by Ebo Taylor’s bass player Emmanuel Ofori.
