I read this today in something by Tadao Ando, one of the worlds best architects. It made me think about how we are often too concerned with trying to overcomplicate our architecture, and that often, by taking a simpler approach and increasing the polyvalence of our proposals it allows people to take over the space and personalise it more in an effort to counteract the effects on "non-place"
Sorry everyone, I imagine that unless you are an architect, that won't make a lot of sense! The main essence however, still rings true... Provide too much and people become lazy - so next time somebody tells you that you're not involved enough, tell them you are stepping back to allow others to apply their influence! :D
