Annie - A very happy Mom

This is one of 11 photos that were solely manipulated in-camera (I added borders to a couple after loading to my PC). When I took them, I was underwhelmed with the results, so I decided to experiment with my camera's filters.

Fountains Abbey and gardens

At Shree Pashupati Kanya Mandir School, an all girls school in Charikot, North Eastern Nepal, personal development has never been included in the syllabus. As a school of 600 students with limited resources, bean bags hand stitched and filled with dried corn, open up a whole new world of activities. Girls would stay after school to play 'games' that helped with team building, confidence and included physical education; also not in the syllabus.

It is uplifting to see, particularly in rural areas, that learning concepts outside of traditional subjects are getting acknowledged and appreciated. In a society where education is considered 'more important' for young boys than girls, simple ideas like these could be the necessary tools for young girls to fight poverty, stay in school and close the joblessness gap between girls and boys in developing countries.

This image was taken at sunset when the sun was directly hitting it, and shows a lot of contrast.

Around the neighborhood

Me in High Contrast with a yellow tint. Two on my favorite colors black and yellow.

Split toning on an image still in color results in something like this. The sharp detail of the rocks is both revealing and contemplative. How hard is it to build a pyramid, anyway?

San Francisco, March 2010

Hello Flickr people. None of you probably even bother to look at my photostream anymore. But here's a bunch of updates since my last photo post.

1. I shaved my head about two months ago so I won't be doing many self-portraits until it grows back some more.

2. My computer crashed and was completely wiped out so my sister threw it and shattered the screen.

3. I got a netbook yesterday and for now I'm stealing wifi so that's the only way I can post this photo. :p

4. And finally, I originally thought my camera broke because it wouldn't turn on and there were dents in it and the screen was cracked. I had come to realize the battery just needed to be charged, but the main lcd is actually broken, but I can still use the mini one.

About the photo, this was a cat that we found at a uhaul place in the middle of nowhere. The person next to it is Leeanna. We did a photo shoot a while back in Tennessee so I'll probably post some pictures of her later.

Well, that sums it all up.
