Higher Tor on Hathersage Moor is the tall flat topped prominence. Slightly below and to the right is another prominence called Carl Wark. The promontory is faced by vertical cliffs on all but one side, which is protected by a prehistoric embankment. The cliffs and embankment form an enclosure that has been interpreted as an Iron Age hill fort, though the date of construction and purpose of the fortifications remains unknown

The waterfall was brown with peat

We were taking in the sun and so was this little fella..

Looking back across Burbage Brook towards Carl Wark and Higger Tor.

Higger Tor in the Burbage Valley in late June 2015, though you wouldn't have guessed from the weather...!

Altered on Photoshop (changed the light and contrast).

On a foggy but beautiful day, starting from Hathersage train station walking a loop through Hathersage village, following to the east of Hood Brook, past Bronte Cottage, up to and along Stanage Edge, down to the Burbage, Fiddler's Elbow and Higger Tor, across to Callow and then back into Hathersage.

We eventually arrived at Higger Tor and clambered up onto some rocks for a bite to eat.

Glad to be back at the truck after a short walk down the road.
