I went to try and capture some golden evening light. Fat chance! Just as we parked the car, the light started to fade, but I persisted and got some moody shots and the occasional glimmer of sunlight.

The Longshaw Estate, which is made up of open moorland, woodland and farms, provides excellent walking country, with dramatic views over the Derwent Valley. The estate is owned and managed by the National Trust.

The return leg traverses Higger Tor with its unique weathered gritstone rocks then crosses the pre-historic hill fort of Carl Wark. This unique hill fort is a recognised nationally important archeological site, though its origins are still unknow
