Higger tor, Peak District, UK.
After a mostly hazy sunset, a wonderful afterglow followed. When this happens I'm not usually near water. But luckily, on Higger Tor there are gritstone holes which are filled with water most of the time.
As mentioned previously I had lent my tripod to John, I wasn't overly bothered about getting the camera out but as the sky lightened I knew it would be a colourful dawn, probably the best of the year for me.....
The composition isn't the best but shooting handheld and having to adjust the grad at the same time proved too much for me!!

Waiting for the sunrise on a windy, freezing and misty morning on Higger Tor, Derbyshire, UK.
Shot with a Nikon D300 and 18-105mm lens.
A ferociously windy sunrise on Higger Tor, watching rain drive across the moor, lashing against the ancient fort of Carl Wark.
Finally, patience paid off and the sun rose just enough to poke it's fingers through the cloud.

A view of the Iron Age hillfort of Carl Wark seen from Higger Tor on a windy winters morning.

Even the sheep thought it was beautiful.
Over the bank holiday I went to the peak district and had one good sunset out of 4 and thought this was quite quirky with the sheep admiring the view.
I hope you like it and welcome any critique as it is the only way i will learn.
About the Tor courtesy of wikipedia:
Higger Tor is one of the dominant landmarks of the Dark Peak. It is a gritstone tor overlooking the Burbage Valley, within the city limits of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England.
It is about 200 metres (220 yd) from the border with Derbyshire, which runs along the nearest road, approximately 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) east of Hathersage. Higger Tor overlooks the iron age hill fort of Carl Wark [1] to the southeast.
In the late summer we visited The National Trust's Longshaw Estate for a pleasant walk followed by a cup of tea and a cake! The first photograph is the view towards Higger Tor on the skyline.
A short walk from the Fox house taking in Burbage rocks,Higger tor and Over owler tor.
As good as anything, anywhere in the Peak district.
My mum has been up visiting us this week...We took her on a short 4 mile walk around the Higger/Over owler tor area....she said it was far enough.
