“You can keep as quiet as you like, but one of these days somebody is going to find you.” - Haruki Murakami

[Even though this is a relatively simple portrait, I can't tell you how many hours I spent waffling on colors for it. I took it as an opportunity to toy with loads of different colors, even when I knew some of those would be garish or just not quite right. And even though I still feel uncertain about the outcome, I'm happy to have spent hours with my indecision, tinkering and trying new things. This one ended up appearing to be a partner to a very similar winter portrait I did called White Noise (www.flickr.com/photos/kindranikole/15180204434/in/datepos...).]

Pixie is always first into a new box so it's not surprising that Fifi has that disappointed look on her face.
Solitude ~ Flickr Lounge
I nearly missed this calf, mostly hidden in the bracken, well away from all the other cows grazing on the heath-land. It was as though it just wanted to be left alone to munch away in solitude..
Thank you to everyone who pauses long enough to look at my photo. Any comments or Faves are very much appreciated.
Italy, Venice, Italy, illustrator drawing a sketch of the Canal Grande at the corner of the vegetable market near the Ponte Rialto.
The lagoon city hides many picturesque places offside the tourist roads. If the buildings would be straight, painted & well maintained, I think Venice without this patina, the gondolas & gondolieri, channels, little bridges & the at all-time busy Canal Grande; all these main ingredients altogether express the romantic charm of Venice.

A little bird feed has done the trick here and attracted a few Bulwer's Pheasant to the high mountain hide at Trusmadi, Northern Borneo.

Taking advantage of a perfectly clear evening I drove up to the Portland area after work hoping to get a couple shots. First up was POED in Scarborough then I headed to South Portland to wait for RUPO to arrive. Unfortunately the dreaded MEC 383 (patched GATX paint) was the middle unit which necessitated setting up for a straight on telephoto. The train has just hit land on the South Portland side of the Fore River and is passing CPF 198, affectionately known as the "oil plant". In roughly a mile the train will be at Tower PT at the east end of Rigby Yard.
