Life is full of hidden delights. Once I started studying the rudbeckias very closely, I noticed that there were tiny yellow flowers surrounding the dark center. Isn't nature wonderful?
The view from the hidden lake overlook is incredible. One of the best views in all of glacier, Only able to walk to the overlook, second part of the trial after the overlook is steeper, trail to the lake “must take bear spray” due to bear activity, forgot to take it, could not go further. View of the lake was amazing and definitely worth the hike.

Unless you are a local or have spent some time exploring The Cresent Junction Area you might not know about this hidden valley. This is not a secret place just somewhere most will not travel to see what's there because when you first enter the area it looks bland.
At the end of HWY 191 out of Moab you simply jump over HWY 70 and get on BLM 223. Stay on this for a great area to shoot in. Make sure you go early in the morning or late in the afternoon to get the best light.
I captured this in the late afternoon light which created great shadows and texture. Also, if you'd like to see the details of this beautiful landscape, zoom in.

I feel this is worth my time. This is worth every effort. I will not stand for what I don't believe. I know my place, I know my faith. Don't you tell me who I'm not. These are not the days that you need to let go, far from the lies that are sent for the test. This test of survival. I will never see you again. The problems you've created have been destroyed. The past regrets have been shattered. The past regrets have been shattered and I am never looking back. Look into the eyes of the outside. Trapped, closed in as time goes on. Looking through this clouded mind. Behind me is something I once lost and nothing I want returned. Take a chance to withdraw, destroying your pride and ignorance. Who will be the first to open eyes? What are you made of? Quit biting your tongue. Stop hiding from who you are. Seek the truth. Hold on to your ways and seek the truth
While climbing the many steps to the abbey at Mont St-Michel, I happened to look over one of the stone walls...this was my reward.
The rain had just cleared as I turned onto a remote country road deep in the Texas Pineywoods. water flowed through the narrow ditches and thunder continued to sound, it's intensity diminishing with each boom as the storm crept east.
My truck rolled slowly along the road, which was lined with restored prairie and seasonal wetlands. I lowered all of my windows to take in that wonderful post-rain aroma that lingers in the air after the storm has moved on.
Immediately I was struck by a chorus of grassland and shrubland birds that seemed to delight in the cool air. Particularly vocal were the Painted Buntings (Passerina ciris). I parked along the edge of the road and cut my engine, and after sometime I had several males approach very closely.
Painted Buntings are considered by many to be one of, if not the most beautiful bird in the U.S. It's hard to argue that logic when observing an adult male. Despite their gaudiness, they often remain hidden, lurking in the dense vegetation of the brushy habitats they inhabit. I was lucky to capture this male singing through the grasses mere feet from me as I sat down in the road with my back against the wheel of my truck.
