Another of the places that most impressed me of the Cantabria Coast.
Photographing the north coast, it becomes a difficult task for all the variables to fit, coincidence of sunrise-sunset with high-low tides depending on each place, having good lights and whenever you can look for less-seen frames, it complicates a lot things.
On the technical side, say that I used the combination of a ND ten steps filter and a soft gradient ND three steps filter.
I hope you like it. Have a nice Friday. :)

This scene was spotted by my partner in crime Alex as we were on the scenic drive.
It is of Silver Lake in the Sierra Nevada Mountains with the sky threatening a rain shower any moment. The upturned silver boats seemed to have tarnished to this beautiful gold where it had contact with the water.

Mas casualidades: También he conocido a Sergio Zubillaga y Carmelo Larra. Otro placer!

Back at work again so had minimal time to take pictures and upload so don't think I'm ignoring you just been doing extreme hours.
Nothing new to upload so heres one from the end of December from a walk along Seafords seafront using my Hitech pro stopper filter.
I'm still struggling to use this filter with its extreme colour cast as correcting it post processing is actually quite difficult as the automatic white balance dropper doesn't look right at all.
I've had to do it manually experimenting with the sliders which is getting better results but time consuming.
My screw in B+W 10 stop filter was much more forgiving and easier to colour correct and also the clarity was much greater, I just needed a slot in filter to compliment my grads to add more impact to my skies.
Im off work in a couple of weeks for around 9 days so hopefully I can really test this Hitech baby out.
Perhaps when I find a White Balance setting thats works I can write it down and use that as a starting point to cut processing times down.
Anyway now to this picture, I loved these funny shaped stones which kind of reminded me of the famous Giants Causeway which I belive to be in Northern Ireland (never been) thats why I chose the title of Dwarfs causeway, our own little mini version :)
This exposure is 137 seconds using the Hitech pro stopper and my Lee 0.6 nd grad for the sky.
Post Processing
I converted to mono using efex and one of the presets which had stark contrast and structure.
I used a few control points in efex to darken and lighten specific areas where needed.
Dodged and burned to taste.
Added 's' curve for extra contrast and bite.
Unsharp mask for detail and clarity.
Due to the extreme processing thanks to the colour cast and mono conversion filter there was small tearings in the sky so I used the blur pen tool to smooth these out before actually sharpening the picture.
Thankyou for all your amazing comments and views whilst I have been away for a few days and hopefully I will post some new stuff soon.

This is the most complicated of all photos that I did on our trip to Iceland. I ended up soaking wet and totally soaked camera. A single shot. Taken with the Nikkor 14-24 with the LucrOit filter holder using a HiTech filter ND STD 6 stops to get the long exposure. If you want to learn more about this filter holder, please, visit my web page capturandolaluz.es/lucroit and get a special discount.

Portafiltros Lucroit en Nikkor 14-24
Sunrise at Flambrough Lighthouse, East Yorkshire. After some terrible weather, an early start and a bit of a gamble paid off to get some nice colour in the morning sky.
From a shoot on a foggy morning at the Santa Barbara, CA marina. Nikon D300, 24-70mm lens at 48mm, ISO 100, f/13 for 1/10th of a second; Singh-Ray Gold-n-Blue Polarizer and a1 stop HiTech ND Grad Filter; 8-10. The boat in the foreground is not quite in the rule of thirds area, so maybe I used a rule of sixths or eighths? In any case, I did use Nik's Color Efex Pro - the Pro Contrast filter. The Nik plugins are outstanding.
Pano 3 horizontal shots. Nikon D800 + Nikkor 14-24 + LucrOit system + HiTech reverse grad filter 2 stops.

Another shot from Bedruthan Steps at low tide. The blue sky this day was really something, made it feel like it was summer. These Hitech 100mm filters are brilliant considering they arrived the day after I ordered them rather than having to wait years for Lee Filters. However I do have to admit they add a purpley/pink cast when stacked. As this image shows they leave no cast, or so little that it's not visible at this size, with no editing the colour hues just their saturation and contrast. I would strongly recommend these filters to anyone, get a Lee Holder too. It feels so much better built that the Cokin P Series I had before, although that was on a vastly different level. I do hope to eventually get some more filters from Hitech, I see no reason to spend more on the Lees. Why wait all that time and pay more when the Hitech filters seem to do a perfectly good job?
Now for a big plug for Teamwork Digital. Who, I must say, are awesome. Their customer service was brilliant, when I ordered a Lee Filter Starter Kit and a Hitech Soft Grad Set, the Lee Set was out of stock. I received a phone call within minutes of leaving the order, a really nice guy sorted my order out for me, making sure I got the right things and it ended up costing me less!
