hamburg. ten years of omr festival. a temporary studio behind the stages. the musician clueso sits on a stool. he looks directly into the camera. it is a charity sitting for the fundación predator. the noise of the event is outside. inside it is quiet. the light falls on the right side of his face. he lifts his hand. a brief hesitation. then the shutter releases. the image remains.
The distance in between you and me is an ocean,
it is not a big deal for me since I'll always choose you,
in a blink,
without any hesitation,
and I will love you forever.
Cows are usually skittish and fearful of us. It’s no wonder, the hell we put them through. Taking their photo is something that almost never happens for me. The car already frightens them, and then when a human emerges from this metal cage, it’s basically the end times.
But along a Summer Road I’ve photographed before, I came across cows and heifers on both sides of the road. They were behind fences, and there were no young and frightened bulls to be seen.
The older cows were immediately uneasy, but the heifers, maybe a year old, were curious. Their eyes met mine, and they stood watching me. Another walked closer to get a better look.
I slowly went for my camera and began talking to them in a soft voice. I have no idea if this mattered, but it put me at ease. I walked from the road, over a small ditch, and into the grass where the barbed wire fence was strung, separating the cows from the road.
They stood, just looking, though I could see the clouds of hesitation and anxiety building behind their eyes. I lifted the camera and focused. This is usually as far as I’ll get with cows. At this point, they’re taking no chances and run away, often creating a mini-stampede.
This time, however, they just watched. They looked into the camera. There were three of them - two younger, one older. I was afraid that the loud click of the shutter and mirror slap of the Mamiya RB67 might scare them away, but even that hardly registered.

December 30, 2017: Snow blankets the woods around Cucumber Falls in Ohiopyle State Park in Pennsylvania. This partially frozen waterfall sits nestled in the woods but has easy access to the trailhead nearby. The road to the falls was snow covered and steep but Subaru Crosstrex got me there without hesitation.
i stood in palma, in front of a government building with no name, no flag, no people. just light cutting across its silent wall. then this rider came. no sound, no hesitation, just the silhouette slipping exactly into the shadow’s edge. the city didn’t notice. but it was perfect. like geometry delivering a message no one had written.
it stepped forward without hesitation, as if the world owed it an answer. ears wide, eyes locked, breath quiet — the leash barely mattered. there’s a kind of confidence that only dogs and poets have, the kind that doesn't wait for permission to be seen.
It had been two weeks since I had seen this owl. It came about when I woke up and saw through the window that it was shaping up to be a good sunrise. Without hesitation, I grabbed my camera and headed out Driving slowly through the woods, I scanned the trees all along the way, eventually coming to a stop and pulling out my binoculars. There it was! Still a ways out, but suitable for an environmental shot and at last, a complimentary background. Really surprised the good light held on for so long.
VALDRESFLYA🇳🇴
Almost the same place as my previous upload 2 weeks later with the start of the winter❄️
That day was my last day I could go to this beautiful place. In the early morning I saw that the conditions were very well. So no hesitation and I had a great time for several hours there🌞
That year I went for a month to a place near Fagernes and I went to the Valdresflya 3 times. I have only all of the pictures of this day. From the first time only 1 picture and from the 2nd only the ones from my Canon 40D. So luckely I still have a lot of beautiful memories🌞

For over a year, I had promised to show at least one more photo of this bird here. I hadn’t had the chance to do it until now, but here it is.
It may seem incredible — and a bit of a silly mistake on my part — that I didn’t notice the chick when I took the photo. But the fact is, I only realized it much later, when I was zooming in on the camera’s display, already on solid ground and comfortably seated at the restaurant table.
Here, the chick might seem easy to spot, but out in the field not even the guide noticed its presence — although I did have a better chance than the guide and my travel companions, as I managed to push through the tangled vegetation and get a better view of the scene. On the rugged and slippery terrain, I could barely see the bird at all; I simply pointed the camera and took several shots with different settings, hoping at least one would turn out well.
Madagascar was, by far, the most physically demanding trip we’ve ever done, but now, after a year hobbling around with an injured knee, I’d go back there without hesitation.

Isn't truth supposed to set you free?
Well, why do I feel so weighed down by it?
If I could show them everything I've seen
Open their eyes to all the lies, then would they change their minds like I did?
But when I speak, they tell me, "Sit down"
But how can I when I've already started running?
Oh, this is where we've been, but it's not where we belong
And I may be young, but I know I'm not wrong
So I look up at the stars to guide me
And throw caution to every warning sign
If knowing what it could be is what drives me
Then let me be the first to stand in line
So I make this wish
To have something more for us than this
So I make this wish
To have something more for us than this
Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah
Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah, ah, ah
More than this, oh, whoa, whoa, ah
I never knew I needed room to grow
Yeah, I did what I was told when someone told me, "No!"
Now I've got all of this freedom in my bones
But I've still got the lid on, so it doesn't overflow
'Cause I've got reservations and hesitations
On where I should even begin
I'm past dipping my toes in
But I'm not, no, I'm not past diving in
If I could just be pointed in any given direction
On where to go and what to do
My legs are shaking, but my head's held high
The way you always taught me to
So I look up at the stars to guide me
And throw caution to every warning sign
I'm sure there will be challenges that find me
But I can take them on one at a time
So I make this wish
To have something more for us than this
So I make this wish
To have something more for us than this
Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah (so I make this wish)
Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah, ah, ah (to have something more)
More than this, oh, whoa, whoa, ah
So I make this wish
To have something more for us than this

Another in my series of rural Nebraska churches photographed at night with the Milky Way. Unlike the other rural churches, this little chapel is pretty new.
Sometimes photographic challenges aren't what you expect. I thought the biggest obstacle was going to be getting permission to come in the middle of the night to take pictures. That actually turned out to be easy. The chapel is attached to a small convent and I thought that the Sisters probably wouldn't want some guy out there in the middle of the night. But permission was given without hesitation. It turned out that the photographic challenge was their cat. When I got out of the car I could see the cat running toward me. The cat was very affectionate. It was rubbing up against my legs while I was setting up. Initially I thought that was good. I like cats and thought it would be nice to have a companion while I waited on the long exposures. The trouble began when the cat insisted on rubbing (forcefully) up against the legs of the tripod too. Unfortunately, the cat hated to be held. So, I had to reset several times trying to hold the cat off at the same time I was trying to take the pictures and readjust the exposure. Eventually I got what I thought were enough shots for an HDR composite before the cat displaced the tripod (again).
The chapel is just outside the town of Crete and I wasn't able to see the Milky Way due to light pollution from the town. I probably couldn't have gotten Milky Way photos in this location in any case because of the cat. The Milky Way photos were taken about 15 miles away near Dorchester, Nebraska. The picture of the building was taken looking southwest. The pictures of the Milky Way were taken looking south.
The building is an HDR bracketed exposure composite of 5 photos put together in Lightroom and the sky is a composite of 10 photos taken at 20 seconds, ISO 1600, for noise reduction.
The sky photos were composited in Photoshop and the overall picture was composited in Photoshop.
Boter bij de vis, which can be loosely translated as “butter with the fish,” is an idiom used to convey a sense of immediacy, directness, and honesty. This idiom often refers to situations where payment is expected upfront or when immediate action is required without delay or hesitation.
Very much like: “cash on the nail” or “cash on the barrelhead”
I remember so clearly
Sunsets
They promised nicely
That we would try to fly
That we would not lose me
And I was always fooled
I remember those partings
And the long days afterwards
Those moments of hesitation
Or am I ready
Or can I move on already
Whether the dust has settled after the pain
Does the aching heart need more winters than this one
To stop being afraid
To wise up and get up

Adrienne had always been drawn to antique and junk stores, forever searching for the unusual. Though she was in a hurry today, something compelled her to step inside. The best discoveries happened by chance, and it had been a month or so since her last visit.
Her eyes landed on a peculiar, disc-shaped object—ancient, worn, and enigmatic. Both sides were complex, featuring a clock-like dial, mysterious markings, and several small knobs. A price tag dangled from it, but there was nothing to indicate its purpose. A calculator, perhaps?
She traced her fingers over the worn face and intricate gears. No, not a calculator. She’d seen sketches of a device like this before, but that was only a myth—a mere story. And yet, here it was. As she cradled it in both hands, a faint vibration pulsed against her skin, as if it was pulling energy from her very touch. What was this doing here?
A presence lingered behind her. A man stood across the store, watching. She could feel his eyes on her but did not turn to look. Was it her he observed or the object? Unease crept into her chest. Slowly, she set the device back onto the shelf and walked away, feigning disinterest. The man’s gaze remained fixed, but after some time, she saw him exit the store.
Adrienne returned to the shelf as casually as she could. Without hesitation, she scooped up the device, paid for it in cash—ensuring no trace of her identity—and tucked it into her bag. Then, without looking back, she hurried away.

Adrienne knew the bedroom was a dead end, but it was her only hope.
She dashed down the hall, her pulse pounding, and slammed the door behind her, a futile attempt to delay the inevitable.
A heartbeat later, the door exploded inward, ripped from its hinges. One of the men walked in, fists clenched. His eyes locking on Adrienne’s eyes and emitting a low growling sound.
Adrienne was ready. Her fingers closed around the .45 automatic from her nightstand. Without hesitation, she fired four rounds into his chest.
He crumpled—but instead of lying still, his body convulsed, twisting and writhing in grotesque fashion. Flesh melted away, revealing a scaly, reptilian form beneath.
The second man lunged. Adrienne twisted away, leveling the gun and squeezing the trigger three more times. He collapsed, just like the first.
Breathless, she staggered back into the corner. The pistol was empty. Her hands trembled. She was frozen, paralyzed with terror.
She had only half believed Kayla but it was true! These men, they aren't human!
Then the bald man entered, stepping over the bodies with deliberate calm. His piercing gaze pinned her in place. “Brave,” he said with a smirk. “But it’s over.”
He seized her wrist, yanking her close, and effortlessly plucked the useless weapon from her grasp then smacked her across the face.
“We have plans for you.”
He turned to the fourth man. “Tie her up tight. Search her for the device and take her to the truck.”

There’s something magical about encountering something unfamiliar—a spark of curiosity that draws us in and makes us pause. As children, this kind of wonder is second nature. Every new sight, sound, or discovery feels like an adventure, and we explore without hesitation. But as we grow older, life’s routines often take over, and that spark can dim. We forget to stop, notice, and question.
Reclaiming that curiosity isn’t just about observing the world—it’s about reconnecting with the joy of exploration. It means letting ourselves linger when something catches our attention, allowing time to investigate and be amazed. These moments remind us that life still holds endless possibilities for wonder if we’re willing to slow down and truly look. Curiosity is a gift we never lose—it’s always waiting for us to rediscover it.

This Progressive Rail GP38-2 was taking in the sights around the country as it changed ownership hands several times.
Originally Penn Central, then Conrail, #7701 a GP38, it may be no stranger to this New York, Susquehanna & Western territory at Jamesville, NY.
Sometime after Conrail, the unit went to HELM, then to the Kansas & Oklahoma as #3628. After the WATCO invasion of the K&O it got the black and yellow paint and re-numbered to 3808. WATCO pushed her off to Progressive Rail, where obviously they brought it up to "-2" standards. Off to the "Q" she goes where about a year or so was spent on all parts of the railroad. I'm sure there must have been a few hesitations from the dispatcher when issuing paper! "Is that the NYSW 3808 or the PRLX 3808 as your leader??"
It then became CBFX while on the Susquehanna, a part of Citi leasing. When the lease was up it went west, those wild spark arrestors capped. Who knows where it might be now, but in this shot it's in company with six, yes, six yellow jackets as they all get ready to head north to Syracuse on a Saturday afternoon.
No idea of the species — help? It looks — from the curve of the bill — like a honeyeater, but I've never seen one coloured like this one before...
This man holds all colours, I can paint him in whatever I want - he is the most respectful man I know of and I respect him immensely
How lucky am I
Out of nowhere he came
Flickr for me was nowhere, just as
Canada was nowhere
Very very far away from Norway, at least
What was only a chat on Flickr became
A new start
A little year with back and forth to his work as a captain in Canada started in 2018
Marriage was the next natural step, 29th of February 2019 was booked
For some reason everything went quickly, just as it should do - no hesitation when we understood that it was "meant to be", yes why wait
"The impossible day" I called it, referring to that 29th of February didn't come every year, being very special in that way, just like what I thought everything about us was - very special
It became impossible because papers didn't make it over from one continent to the other in time
But,luckily we had booked this date, so he was off, otherwise he would have had problem in coming into the country, cause
Covid came....
Norway shut down its borders
So did the rest of the world
Thanks to the impossible day, he was here - in Norway
A new date for marriage was set up
I think it was July 11th - lol
(and for a little curiosity our photo from that day came to Explore 💖)
and why not continue with the change
New Town

This man has changed my life, coloured it with the colours from the rainbow, painted my life in pink, with laughter and fun, extremely good food, respect and love, lots and lots of love.
To give love to such a person is truly amazing
To receive love is the most amazing thing I didn't think I would have in this life, feeling worthy of unconditional love, how blessed I feel!
Am I grateful, wow yes, every day I say "Thank you for my life, thank you for what has been, thank you for what is"
The past has made us here, this is what is, changes had to be made and they were made
Mom - who loves Mark immensely - says

The sun comes up later in the morning now, which means it's dark when I get to work and I get a chance to watch the sunrise as I walk between buildings; today I decided to stop and take a moment to try and get an interesting shot.
I was hoping someone would walk the stairs while I stood watching, but I didn't luck out there.
Still, I think this is an interesting sight; a stair case going up into the sky.
Anyway, quick upload and run for me today. Hope you all had a great day!

Portrait de rue (Quartier d'affaires "La Défense", décembre 2024)
When I met this young person yesterday on the forecourt of La Défense, I thought about the nice portrait that could be taken. After some hesitation, she gave me the green light! Here is the photograph that came out from that moment!
Star has learned to take careful measurements of depth as well as surface strength before venturing out into the snow, perhaps imprinted from a time when as a kitten she raced across the cleared area in front of the house, and without hesitation dashed around the corner and found herself trapped in some deep snow...her chagrin evidenced by some very mournful wailing.

Suggested photography itinerary for 3 days:
- 1st day: arrival in Aracena, Aracena Convento Hotel, and after lunch go to Riotinto (30 minutes drive), guided tour at 16:30 to 3 open pit mines (Cerro Colado, Corta Atalaya and Peña de Hierro) of Fieldwork Riotinto hand, professional people and very attentive. Back to Aracena for dinner (near Jabugo, you know) and sleep.
- 2nd day: back to Rio Tinto for personal tour at 9:00 (Fieldwork Riotinto) to the bed of the Rio Tinto (The Majadillas, Naya and his wagons and the born point), eating at Rio Tinto, at the Factory restaurant. Aracena return for visit the Cave of Wonders. Stay the night at Aracena, you're busted, better get up early tomorrow for move to El Rocio.
- 3rd day: at 7:00 am trip to El Rocio, Hotel La Malvasía (Aracena to Rocio 2 hrs drive). At 9:00 Land Rover personal tour in the Doñana National Park, Doñana Nature's hand during the morning (pick up from the hotel and you get back). Dining at the Toruño restaurant, behind the hotel, without hesitation. At the afternoon can visit the shrine of El Rocio, Rocio and soak stroller ride pulled by mules to see the Brotherhoods. I'll bet you dinner at El Toruño, and if not, you know, tapas and “Manzanilla”. A sleep and get ready for the return.
Additional Suggestion: I could not do it because all pilots were on Galicia fires this summer, but the 4th day, when you check out, you might as well go through the AeroNiebla aerodrome and hire a 1 hr walk by plane to fly over the bed of the Rio Tinto , undoubtedly spectacular. Probably I'll take one of these Saturdays one AVE and go to Sevilla (40 km of Niebla) for air report.

When you cruise the Central Valley roads north of Marysville, you'll find it bumpy going. The roads here traverse miles of rice fields and can be neck wrenching with their ample quantity of potholes, cracks, and protrusions. The fun starts when the locals who know these roads as well as the hair on the their arms, come up behind you cruising at 70+ miles per hour and without a moments hesitation fly by you in the opposite lane, sometimes barely avoiding slamming into another vehicle who is also engaged in the same maneuver on the opposite side of the road. It appears to be the ultimate game of chicken, which makes me wonder what the heck is in that rice.

The Sri Lankan junglefowl (gallus lafayettii) is the country's national bird and this male seemed to understand his status. Larger and much more colourful than the female, this male bird had no hesitation in marching towards me - any females stayed out of sight. Photographed in Horton Plains National Park, Sri Lanka. If you ask me what was the most difficult day of the Iceland trip, I would without hesitation tell you that the second day we spent on the Laganes Peninsula would win the award. it rained practically all day, you are on the edge of a cliff with winds over 70 miles an hour. You literally wear every piece of clothing you have brought with you and yet, you are still freezing.... Good thing, I had brought chest waders in my suitcase, no matter what they keep you dry ... This being said, if you ask me what was the most memorable day of the trip, I would also say the second day we spent on the Laganes Peninsula... My first encounter with the Gannet and I would have not given up this opportunity no matter what...some may say, that Gannets can be easily seen in other parts of the world and under way better conditions...but as they say, no pain no gain...:)
After dawn, i don't know what to do.. I was alone at that time in my house..
So I planned to go outing alone by myself because i don't have friends... Without any hesitation, I grabbed my Kancil's key and started the engine to warm it up.. After a few minutes, I drove to the 1st destination, pump station.. RM10 please!! .. I said to the man at the counter, then I filled my Kancil with RON95 unleaded petrol.
So... my journey started ...
Stay tuned for more photos(not so great la.. )

I rarely photograph people. However, back in 2018, a scene unfolded before my eyes that was too compelling to ignore. As I sat in my car I watched it for five minutes and I was really mesmerized. A young woman, quite well dressed, approached a homeless man on the wet street. There was no hesitation in her step, no faltering in her approach. She sat down beside him, their worlds momentarily intersecting, and they shared a sandwich. The simplicity of the act, the unspoken understanding, left me wondering. I can't claim to know her reasons, but in that moment, I wanted to believe in the existence of pure kindness.
While driving from Spišská Nová Ves to Rožňava on a Saturday morning, we realize that on the secondary line Banská Bystrica - Margecany is coming the REX 1785: given the poor traffic this railway offers, we decide without hesitation to wait for the train in the first place useful for a picture with good light, which we find at the entrance to the station of Hnilec, one of the many tiny villages scattered in the hills of central Slovakia.
my husband makes the same joke every time we drive by one. anyway, my take on this moment, though i didn't get out of the car, was that these guys were trying to furnish and supply their first apartment and the inventory wasn't cutting it. i see some hesitation in the body language. does that mean no george forman grills? too many doilies? no futons? i love the hunt, even when it's not my own.
I caught this Squirrel Monkey at Mocagua Island, Amazonas, Colombia, in a moment suspended between hesitation and instinct—quietly measuring the space between branches, weighing its next leap.
Trivia -
Males weigh around 750 gms - 1100 gms. Females weigh 500 to 750 grams. Commonly captured for the pet trade and for medical research they are however not in the endangered class. They can only sweat through the palms of their hands and feet. They also make use of a technique to maximize evaporative cooling known as urine washing. They urinate on their hands and rub the urine over the soles of their feet. The urine then evaporates and cools the body.

Night had long since fallen, wrapping the room in a conspiratorial darkness. The soft clink of glasses echoed between them, each sip of wine prolonging a silent game where gazes spoke louder than words.
She felt the warmth of his hand brushing against her skin, his breath grazing her neck, sending a delicious shiver down her spine. Behind them, the night stretched on, a veil of mystery concealing the outside world. Here, nothing else existed but this suspended moment, where desire whispered without a single word.
One last glance, a feigned hesitation… then she let herself be carried away. After all, some nights are meant to be lived without restraint.🔥
