Marines from Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island’s burial team salute the nation’s flag as it is held over the casket of Medal of Honor recipient Capt. John James McGinty III, during his funeral Jan. 23, 2014, at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, S.C. McGinty, a decorated Vietnam War hero and Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island veteran, died Jan. 17, 2014, in his home in Beaufort at the age of 73.

Probably my last shot to upload to flickr from the London 2012 Olympics, a photo taken from the opening ceremony of the paralympics.
When Team GB entered the Stadium, they were greeted with a wall of sound, cheering, clapping, glitter tape and fireworks.
David Bowie's Heroes played and an overwhelming sense of pride filled all in attendance. "We could be Heroes" the song says, wrong - they already are!

Every photon that hits my Nikon D800e's sensor does it by surfing the fourth expanding dimension, which is moving at c relative to the three spatial dimensions, or dx4/dt=ic!

The architect Gerard Moerdijk, called this hall in which the frieze was placed, the Hall of Heroes. A historic frieze (92 m x 2.3 m), which consists of 27 wall panels, was mounted against the walls. It depicts important events from the Great Trek. The frieze was designed by four South African sculptors: Hennie Potgieter, Peter Kirchhoff, Frikkie Kruger and Laurika Postma. The plaster models were shipped to Italy where it was sculpted from Italian Quercetta marble, by 40 Italian chisellers and 6 Italian sculptors. The completed frieze weighs approximately 200 tons.
Firearm was a notorious, technologically-advanced bounty hunter who continuously threatened the Hero Factory. Firearm is a mercenary more than capable of carrying out assignments but lacking in the ambition to mastermind his own agenda.
Shortly before the betrayal of Von Ness, Firearm came to operate exclusively out of the Delta Quadrant, gaining experience as a mercenary and branching out his services. For some time, Firearm established his headquarters along the edge of the Necron Expanse, a vast region of frontier space with no stars systems for 200 lightyears. Following the success of Hero Factory in the galactic neighborhood, Firearm was able to inflate his service charges exponentially, with bounty hunters coming in short supply.
Over the course of his career, Firearm has utilized a number of weapons and gadgets to carry out his assignments, initially starting with standard issue Meteor Blasters and later diversifying to carry heavily customized gear for each mission. Most prominently, he has been known to carry a modified Combat Rifle looted from a Makuhero Industries factory.
Unlike many of his contemporaries, Firearm has been known to keep several extensive weapons and ammunition caches on planets around the Delta Quadrant, often containing launchers looted from Heroes or other criminals.

Hero is a well known name in the Swiss food industry, especially for their conserved fruit and vegetables products. This iconic building is inspired by the food cans/tins produced by the company.

Overall I'm really satisfied with Snow White! I think she's so beautiful, her eyes and lips are fantastic! Her brows are a little thicker than I like, but I can deal. I love the hair! It seems more true to the film than sort of the longer 'page boy' cut the classic doll has. I love how her dress has hints of the 16th Century, but also a 30s floral print. While I love the cape, I am disappointed that it isn't removable, and I'd kind of like some sort of lace trim on the collar. Nothing over the top, just a small little trim. I am disappointed that she doesn't have accurate shoes, despite being shown wearing them in the artwork, but I guess DS feels you must be a Snow Queen to get original shoes and not Princess Snow.

Have you ever been blessed with a moment like this in your life... maybe with a sibling, or maybe with a friend? What a moment this young man made with his little brother... for both of them. It's the little bother peering around his brother to see the other two walking off and feeling totally secure... and a winner, because he got the prize, his brother's love.
Personally, I feel ashamed that I don't have more memories like this between my own brothers. What if we all committed this entire week to looking for and reaching out to people who are in our lives today that need a hand on the shoulder... can you do that? It doesn't need to be a sibling or even a friend, it can be the picked on co-worker, the kid on your children's sports team that is always left outside the popular clique, or even the man or woman standing on the street corner discraced to the point of begging. All it takes is a tender heart that can choose the right thing to do..... life changing!!

The firefighters who were fighting the forest fires were real heroes. All day long they were flying those small planes and helicopters to extinguish those fires. There were up to 5 planes in a row in a 5 minute intervall which got their water from the bay of Peguera. This lasted three days long until the fire was moving north due to the heavy winds. Then the fire fighters got their water from other spots.
I took a lot of images of those planes, so I decided to put some of those into a collage, so I don't borrow you the next to weeks with images of fire fighting planes ;) For more details, you can view the image in large. Tomorrow I will return to "regular" shots of the island again.
