4th September 2019:

A wet and grey morning, but as I was stuck at home, it didn't really matter. Other than wondering what on earth I could take for today.

Saved by the weather (for once), the sun came out at about lunch time, so I soon as I'd had something to eat, I was out.

An enjoyable walk and I found a lovely bowl of fruit sitting on a window ledge. Sadly too far away to reach it, which is probably why the owner puts them there!

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :O)

Will catch up tomorrow, getting late here and I need an early night.

When life gives you a surplus of lemons, don't let them go to waste: the rest of the community likes lemonade too! Or lemon cake. Or a lemon seasoning/marinade.

That seems to have been the sentiment behind this, which I found on the way to the city in a neighbouring village. The sign says "help yourselves" and if you look closely, you can see two faded hearts above the word. Street photography is not my strength but I liked the sentiment enough to pull over and take a few shots. We should all share more and waste less.

One of the pies I baked this year for Thanksgiving. It is tradition in my family that I bake the pies. I always decorate them with my favorite sun and moon motifs. By the time I set up this still-life, the man-in-the-moon pie was long gone. LOL I think I'm a frustrated food stylist or something.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fine Flickr friends. There is so much to be grateful for!

this was one of the red squirrels i saw while out with ‘chris mcloughlin’ and ‘bojangles_1953’

as this was the first time i had seen a red squirrel – i had imagined them to be a lot more timid than the greys, but they were actually surprisingly confident and just as cheeky!

there wernt bothered about us at all, coming within a few feet of us - and this cheeky chappie even coming and helping himself to a nut while we were sheltering from the rain!

Sharing the love for "trashy" guilty pleasure reads at the English department at my new Alma Mater. They were both gone when I came back from the department's library. Other people are hungry for trash, too. :)

The cozy mystery "Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder" by Joanne Fluke is actually really good (at least in my humble opinion). If I am ever going to have any spare time again, I would definitely read the follow-up(s) of it. Perfect lazy winter read.

I'm pretty sure this sign is from the 1980s. It's at the Corner Store at the intersection of Elm and 24th Streets in Lumberton, North Carolina in Robeson County. You'll never be bored people watching at the Corner Store. The clientele is very colorful.

I'll be around to see you Sunday

This summer I took of lot of detail shots which I can use as textures and foundations for abstracts. I’d like to share the first batch of images featuring close-ups of the Canadian Shield rock face along the new stretch of highway just outside of Doe Lake near Katrine in Muskoka, Ontario. Please feel free to use them as you wish. I’ll post other similar stuff from time to time.

The Canadian Shield, also called the Laurentian Plateau or Bouclier Canadien, is a massive geological rock shield covered by a thin layer of soil. It has a deep, common, joined bedrock region in eastern and central Canada and stretches north from the Great Lakes to the Arctic Ocean, covering over half of Canada. It also extends south into the northern reaches of the United States and east as far as Greenland.

Another image from Sunday afternoon at Jonamac Orchard (Malta, IL). Rows and rows and rows of trees... different apple varieties... some trees already picked bare, and others still heavy with fruit. Of course, the farther away from the parking lot you went... the more fruit still in the trees. =)

I don't know if it's careless picking and handling... or just nature's way (probably all of the above)... but there was almost a carpet of red under the trees in some of the rows. Intriguing. And very photogenic. And in a day or two... this will all be more or less... applesauce! =)
