A free wellbeing support helpline on 0800 069 6222, operated by the Samaritans and available from 7am – 11pm, seven days a week, providing confidential listening from trained professionals. A 24/7 text alternative to the above helpline - NHS staff can simply text FRONTLINE to 85258.

Most of us don't understand the strain Coronavirus has put on the NHS (and health providers world wide), remember the NHS isn't just an organisation its real people. People with all of the normal day to day worries and concerns just like you and me - that have been thrust into the front line were more British people have died than in all of the armed conflicts since word war II added together.

Well - after paying for PRO I have been unable to access my flickr site for the last 5 weeks - after many e-mails back and forth to the flickr helpline I have only now been able to add anything to my photostream - what a nightmare it has been but at last it WORKS!!!

Sincere thanks to Flickr helpline especially Ben for all the time it took resolving the disappearance of my Flickr account. Thanks also to Toni and Tee for their help and support

The most common eating disorders are:

Anorexia nervosa – when you try to keep your weight as low as possible by not eating enough food, exercising too much, or both.

Bulimia – when you sometimes lose control and eat a lot of food in a very short amount of time (binging) and are then deliberately sick, use laxatives (medication to help you poo), restrict what you eat, or do too much exercise to try to stop yourself gaining weight.

Binge eating disorder (BED) – when you regularly lose control of your eating, eat large portions of food all at once until you feel uncomfortably full, and are then often upset or guilty.

Other specified feeding or eating disorder(OSFED) – when your symptoms don't exactly match those of anorexia, bulimia or binge eating disorder, but it doesn't mean it's a less serious illness

Warning signs of an eating disorder in someone else

It can often be very difficult to identify that a loved one or friend has developed an eating disorder.

Warning signs to look out for include:

Dramatic weight loss

Lying about how much and when they've eaten, or how much they weigh

Eating a lot of food very fast

Going to the bathroom a lot after eating, often returning looking flushed

Excessively or obsessively exercising

Avoiding eating with others

Cutting food into small pieces or eating very slowly

Wearing loose or baggy clothes to hide their weight loss

Simulating a DSLR Camera -

Learning what happens, if you change settings!

Üben: mit einer anspruchvollen digitalen Kamera.

Beliebige Einstellungen vornehmen und ein Photo schiessen.

Simulation

camerasim.com/apps/original-camerasim/web/

-

DSLR sim controls:

Lighting

Lighting is the single biggest determinant of how your camera needs to be set. With only a few exceptions, you can never have too much light. Use this slider to experiment with different indoor and outdoor lighting conditions.

Distance

Use this slider to simulate how close or far you are in relation to the subject.

Focal length

Moving this slider is the same as zooming in and out with your lens. A wide, zoomed out setting creates the greatest depth of field (more things are in focus) while zooming in creates a shallower depth-of-field (typically just the subject will be in focus).

Mode

The exposure modes of an SLR let you control one setting while the camera automatically adjusts the others. In Shutter Priority mode, you to set the shutter speed while the camera sets the aperture/f-stop. In Aperture Priority mode, you set the aperture/f-stop while the camera sets the shutter speed. Manual mode is fully manual—you’re on your own! Refer to the camera’s light meter to help get the proper exposure. Although every real SLR camera has a “fully automatic” mode, there is not one here—what’s the fun in that?

ISO

ISO refers to how sensitive the “film” will be to the incoming light when the picture is snapped. High ISO settings allow for faster shutter speeds in low light but introduce grain into the image. Low ISO settings produce the cleanest image but require lots of light. Generally, you will want to use the lowest ISO setting that your lighting will allow.

Aperture

Aperture, or f-stop, refers to how big the hole will be for the light to pass through when the shutter is open and the picture is snapped. Lower f numbers correspond with larger holes. The important thing to remember is this: the higher the f number, the more things in front of and behind the subject will be in focus, but the more light you will need. The lower the f number, the more things in front of and behind the subject will be out of focus, and the less light you will need.

Shutter speed

Shutter speed is how long the shutter needs to be open, allowing light into the camera, to properly expose the image. Fast shutter speeds allow you to “freeze” the action in a photo, but require lots of light. Slower shutter speeds allow for shooting with less light but can cause motion blur in the image.

Happy simulating!

An image produced by one of the Force's photographers to illustrate forced marriage.

Forced marriage is a criminal offence and is:

"A marriage conducted without the valid consent of one or both parties, where duress is a factor".

Duress can include physical, sexual, emotional, and financial and psychological pressure. This will include coercion and deception to force someone into marrying.

Forced marriages are a form of domestic abuse and are dealt with as such by the police.

Forced marriages are where one or both persons involved get forced into a marriage that they do not want to enter and do not consent to the marriage.

Sometimes it is parents forcing their child to get married or sometimes it can be the extended family or community

It can happen between people in this country or between someone from this country with someone abroad.

How do arranged marriages differ from forced marriages?

Where the families of both parties take a leading role in arranging the marriage, but the choice as to whether or not to accept the arrangement remains with the prospective spouses.

Which communities do forced marriages happen in?

We are aware it happens in many communities and we want to encourage communities to understand that this is force and to be confident enough to report to the police.

Victims

Forced marriage is primarily, but not exclusively, an issue of violence against women. Most cases involve young women and girls aged between 13 and 30 years, although there is evidence to suggest that as many as 15 per cent of victims are male.

It is felt that men may still be a reluctant to report to the police that they have been forced into a marriage.

We are aware that there are a number of cases going unreported and we hope to encourage more reporting by raising awareness of the issues.

Click here if you want to navigate away from this site quickly.

How can police help?

We want to encourage potential victims and those already in a forced marriage to seek support and help from the police. We have specialist officers who can deal with the issues and they will help and support you throughout the process.

Obviously we understand that many victims do not want to criminalise family members and may be reluctant to call the police; however we would encourage you to do so if this is the only way to get you out of the situation and so that we can offer you some support and protection.

Foreign and Commonwealth assistance

The Forced Marriage Unit at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office are also available to help and advice you and they can be contacted on 0207 008 0151 or email: fmu@fco.gov.uk

In particular the FCO can help to repatriate you back to this country if you have been forced into a marriage abroad. It is important that you don’t feel like there is no one there to help you.

Reporting a Forced Marriage

We will respect the victim's wishes, respect confidentiality, establish lines of communication and provide appropriate support and guidance via a number of support agencies.

You can report a forced marriage via the normal means of communicating with GMP listed on the Contact Us page. Always call 999 in an emergency where there is a threat to life of a crime in progress. In a non-emergency, call 101.

In addition we have Specialist Domestic Abuse Investigators on each division or by calling 0161 872 5050.

Police Response

Forced marriages are a legitimate issue to report to the police. We will support and protect the victim and investigate criminal offences.

Click here if you want to navigate away from this site quickly.

Situations whereby a forced marriage may come to the attention of the police include:

An individual who fears they may be forced to marry.

A report by a third party of an individual having been taken abroad for the purpose of a forced marriage.

An individual who has already been forced to marry either in this country or abroad or to someone from abroad.

The Legal Position

Forced Marriage is a criminal offence

This legislation came into effect on 16 June 2014. For further information on the legislation click: www.cps.gov.uk/legal/h_to_k/forced_marriage_and_honour_ba...

Forced Marriage Protection Orders (Civil Protection Act 2007)

A Forced Marriage Protection order can be made by a Family Court in order to protect victims, both adults and children of a potential forced marriage or people who are already in a forced marriage. This is a legal document issued by a judge designed to protect individuals according to their particular circumstances. It contains legally binding conditions and directions that require a change in the behavior of a person or persons trying to force another person into marriage.

Forced Marriage Protection Orders may be made to prevent a forced marriage from occurring, to stop intimidation and violence, to reveal the whereabouts of a person, to stop somebody from being taken abroad, to hand over passports etc.

A breach of any of the conditions is a criminal offence. www.cps.gov.uk/legal/h_to_k/forced_marriage_and_honour_ba...

You can find out more about forced marriage protection orders here.

Safety Advice

If you really don’t want to talk to the police or other agencies then please think about the following safety advice if you think you may be forced into a marriage in this country or abroad:

Keep a copy of your passport including dual nationality passports.

Tell a trusted friend if you are travelling abroad and give them addresses of where you will be staying and also details of your return flight so they can alert the police if you fail to return on that date.

Have a spare mobile to hand that you can be contacted on and leave the number with trusted people so you are contactable

Memorise police phone numbers, and/or email addresses of the Forced Marriage unit and trusted friends in case you have to call them in an emergency.

Have addresses of British Embassies available

What is social distancing and why is it important?

Social distancing includes ways to stop or slow the spread of infectious diseases. It means less

contact between you and other people.

Social distancing is important because COVID-19 is most likely to spread from person-to-person

through:

 direct close contact with a person while they are infectious or in the 24 hours before their

symptoms appeared

 close contact with a person with a confirmed infection who coughs or sneezes, or

 touching objects or surfaces (such as door handles or tables) contaminated from a cough

or sneeze from a person with a confirmed infection, and then touching your mouth or

face.

So, the more space between you and others, the harder it is for the virus to spread.

#

&

Social distancing at home

Households

To reduce the spread of germs1

:

 As mentioned, practise good hand and sneeze/cough hygiene

 Avoid handshaking and kissing

 Regularly disinfect high touch surfaces, such as tables, kitchen benches and doorknobs

 Increase ventilation in the home by opening windows or adjusting air conditioning

 Visit shops sparingly and buy more goods and services online

 Consider whether outings and travel, both individual and family, are sensible and

necessary

-

Social Distancing

-

Wieso Social Distancing hilft:

This represents a couple of very differing stories

1) That stage when life has got so low that you can't even help yourself. You're clutching to helplines that don't even work and you don't know what to do.

2) Missing my childhood when I used to sneak to the local phone box and ring 0800reverse to random people and 'prank call' them by just laughing down the phone. ahh wasted youth!

Thank you SO much for all the support on yesterdays picture <3

KASHMIR IN CRISIS, CIVILIANS HOSTAGE TO SECURITY FORCES

A Dharna to register protest against killings of Innocent Civilians in

Kashmir at Jantar Mantar was organised by ANHAD. The dharna was two

hour long where representatives from various civil society groups

gathered to demonstrate their solidarity with the people of Kashmir.

Following people expressed their views in protest: Shabnam Hashmi

(ANHAD), Harsh Kapoor (South Asia Citizens Web), Navaid Hamid

(Member,NIC), Prof. Kamal Mitra Chenoy (JNU), Prof. Anuradha Chenoy

(JNU), Tanveer Hussain Khan (ANHAD), Indu Prakash (IGSSS), Madhu

Chandra (North Eastern Helpline), Divya (YWCA), Sanjay Kumar (AAA),

Amitabh Pandey (Free Lancer), Ravi Himadri (The other Media), Prof.

Rizwan Kaisar (Jamia Millia Islamia), Swami Agnivesh, Mansi Sharma

(ANHAD), Seema Duhan (ANHAD). The following statement was released to

the Media.

It is a matter of grave concern and anguish that no sensitive measures

have been taken by the Central Government in response to the ongoing

deaths, injuries and killings in cold-blood of civilians in Srinagar

and Anantnag districts of Jammu and Kashmir, including young girls and

boys, most of them innocent, peaceful protestors, or even just

bystanders. And consequently both North and South regions of the

valley are on flame. To make matters worse, the Army, along with

para-military forces, have been issued orders to shoot at sight to

uphold the almost relentless curfew -- basically to block protests

against the continuing spiral of non-stop and indiscriminate killings

of innocent civilians. The presence of army and security forces

dominates the Valley and reinforces the deep-rooted angst of people.

The reality is that democracy is under severe strain and is almost

absent in many parts in this state, despite an elected government

backed by the Centre holding the reigns of power at Srinagar.

ANHAD and many other concerned civil society groups in India want the

governments in the state and Centre to come out clean -- urgently and

immediately -- and explain if this is indeed a democratic and

constitutional method of handling a manifold and multiplying crisis in

a highly sensitive region. Obviously, the establishment thinks that

branding it as mere law and order problem and repression and killings

would 'calm down' the situation as sensitive and grim as that of Jammu

and Kashmir. This will be like choking tens of thousands of people

into the silence of absolute suffering and blind rage. Will this

violence ever stop, and will we ever find the root causes for a

political solution based on consensus, understanding, mutual harmony

and human rights?

Tuesday began with protests against one death which led to the second

death and then suddenly, Srinagar was back under curfew. The cycle of

violence has spun out of control all over again. Last week witnessed a

similar series of killings taking its toll in Anantnag district where

people were killed in clashes with security forces since they were not

allowed to protest against the killings of civilians. This has become

a tragic and vicious circle of hopelessness.

Instead of issuing any statement of sympathy or concern or wisdom, our

highest offices of governance in the country, are only pushing for an

escalation in the number of deployment of security forces. This

clearly indicates the callous attitude of the governments in Delhi and

Srinagar. Such acts of brutality are in complete violation of the law

of the land and constitutional rights of the people that have resulted

in mass outrage and alienation of large sections of the civilian

population in Kashmir.

These are unarmed, non-violent citizens, who are being treated with

such blatant and indiscriminate use of military force -- why? Is there

no other way to negotiate with civil unrest? And what is the root

cause of this civil unrest if not the brutalities executed by the

police and para military forces? And what about cases of atrocities

committed on people who are not even protesting?

There is no excuse for such cruelty. Despite repeated assurances by

the central and state governments of zero tolerance towards human

rights violations, the fact remains that little has been done to

punish those responsible for such heinous and gross violations. This

organised insensitivity and vacillation to act firmly against such

elements is bound to put a question mark on the credibility of the

State and its track record in terms of human and democratic rights of

the people, as enshrined in the Indian Constitution. Mere rhetoric and

institution of official enquiries is not enough to restore the

shattered and shaken confidence of the people. It is imperative that

the central and state authorities take firm and visible action against

those responsible for unleashing this brutish violence on innocent

people. Any delay will only compound the alienation and anger of the

people -- resulting in irrefutable damage to the peace process in the

Valley and elsewhere in the state.

ANHAD expresses serious concern over the absolute antipathy and lack

of political initiative displayed by the UPA-led central government in

response to the situation in the valley. They should learn some

lessons from history. People cannot be won over or suppressed at gun

point. Certainly, the people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve a more

rational, humane, visionary and sensitive response from the Indian

State.

We demand from the Central and the State governments to:

Take immediate action to prevent further loss of life and property

Put an end to the violence perpetrated by the security forces with

immediate effect.

Immediately appoint an independent and impartial time bound Commission

of Enquiry to look into the killings of peaceful civilians & human

rights violations

Initiate an inquiry into instances of attacks on ambulance services

Ensure security of the journalists both of local and national media

Ensure freedom of expression and press

Immediately start a political dialogue with various stake holders

These tessellation flower I find so extraordinarily beautiful that I wanted to fold it also necessarily. But I have no idea of tessellation! - But Robin has made a fantastic photo tutorial that even I, who has no experience with tessellation, was successful.

I hope I do encourage others who, like me, have no idea of tessellation to fold this flower!

A very big thank you to Robin for the wonderful design and excellent tutorial!

The more air you shoot through, the more chance there is for atmospheric phenomena to interfere with sharpness. With high magnification photography these distortions become more apparent and frustrating. Unless weather conditions are completely ideal, getting optimal sharpness at long distances is impossible even with the best equipment out there.

... the further away the subject, the more the quality of the photo will degrade.

de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mond

-
