This is a capture I've had in my mind for a very long time. I mean like months. Did it turn out the way I envisioned it? I don't really know. Kind of. Maybe.
Anyway, at the risk of being excruciatingly boring and I know this will be, I'll just say that this tune really inspired the image. I probably heard it the first time in one of my parent's cars when I was about 5 or 6. But hey, who remembers anything past little blurbs when you're so young right?
Both my parents were huge music lovers and this tune was one I did hear often growing up. Well momma still sings away and has a tune for everything that happens in life. We lost daddy in 2019.
Anyway the lyrics of this song never rang so true for me personally until one cold morning right after Christmas in 2009. That morning I faced a very personal and real challenge.
Later, when all was quiet again and I was safe at home and away from 'the life' this song blared from my daddy's old CD player and when it did, he pulled over to hold me because I was crying so hard.
So yea, this tune brings back some very bitter sweet memories.
I hope if anyone is dealing with an addiction of any kind and/or if you're depressed you'll seek help today. The demons will always be there but you can overcome them. I promise you can. There's hope. Reach out for help today.

He's always there. In the shadows, in her thoughts, in her nightmares. The Candy Man loves, he hates, he takes, he destroys, he rescues. He's the beast that comes to her in the middle of the sunny day and he's the savior who holds her up in her darkest hour. His intoxicating sweets run through her veins, they rush into her lungs clouding her mind enough to save her from the terrors that hold her captive. He's the Candy Man and the Candy Man is always there.

Today, September 10th, is World Suicide Prevention Day.
In 2018, in the UK alone there were 6,507 suicides. That’s 6.507 people who couldn’t see a way out and just didn’t want to be here anymore. Most of these people were men aged between 45 and 49, but the rate of suicides among under 25s is also on the increase. It can happen to anyone because life changes, and we change…we never know what’s around the corner and we need to look out for each other.
If someone’s made their mind up, some people say there is nothing you can do. But what if there is? What if by paying more attention, by listening, supporting and being available, by noticing….what if being kind to someone, asking if they’re OK, twice….what if that makes their day? What if it saves their life?
If you’re not OK, there is always someone to talk to. In the UK we have the Samaritans helpline which is manned by kind and caring, non-judgemental people 24 hours a day- 116 123. They will listen and they will help. Things can get better. You might be stuck for a while, but life is waiting for you.
Let’s look after each other.
Song Inspo~ 🎧 god save me, but don’t drown me out🎧
Not gonna waste my life
'Cause I've been fucked up
'Cause it doesn't matter
So waste my time
And god save all of us
And the walls, they'll shatter
And I won't let my insecurities
Define who I am, I am
Not gonna waste my life
'Cause I've been fucked up
'Cause it doesn't matter
Take a breath
And try to think straight
'Cause there's so much pressure
On my fuckin' brain
And my blood runs thin
'Cause I'm off my face
And my shoulders weigh
More than I can take (I can't fucking take it)

"Stomp out bullying!"
The cause I have chosen to support is anti-bullying, and I have chosen it because it is something that is very close to my heart. I've been dealing with bullying all my life, and I want to help others who are suffering from this abuse.
There is much we can do to help fight back, such as providing helpful resources and networks of support for people who are being bullied. Resources can include informative websites, forums online for people to get support on, and phone helplines too. Anti-bullying organizations can visit schools, workplaces, and other places where bullying is known to take place, and conduct seminars and meetings.
I want to help be part of these organizations and do work for them, which I am already doing with a local anti-bullying coalition. I've also in the past managed a forum for anti-bullying online.
This photo communicates how it can feel to have a bunch of bullies ganging up on you, with hands reaching out to harass and abuse you, and how you can feel really beaten down by it all. No one should be made to feel that way, so let's stomp out bullying once and for all!

“Any fool can get into an ocean . . .”
BY JACK SPICER
“Any fool can get into an ocean
But it takes a Goddess
To get out of one.
What’s true of oceans is true, of course,
Of labyrinths and poems. When you start swimming
Through riptide of rhythms and the metaphor’s seaweed
You need to be a good swimmer or a born Goddess
To get back out of them
Look at the sea otters bobbing wildly
Out in the middle of the poem
They look so eager and peaceful playing out there where the
water hardly moves
You might get out through all the waves and rocks
Into the middle of the poem to touch them
But when you’ve tried the blessed water long
Enough to want to start backward
That’s when the fun starts
Unless you’re a poet or an otter or something supernatural
You’ll drown, dear. You’ll drown
Any Greek can get you into a labyrinth
But it takes a hero to get out of one
What’s true of labyrinths is true of course
Of love and memory. When you start remembering.”

The three Crowns at Botallack when I didn't fancy my chances walking over the ridge ;))
Copper and tin were the main metals mined in Botallack. The tin was mainly found in granite underground and the copper in killas rock under the seabed. The underground workings at the Crowns were a mile long, with one-third of the shafts and tunnels being under the seabed.

This photo is the final installation of a Mental Health Awareness campaign I started as part of a 4 chapter story I am doing within my 52 week challenge. I wanted to end the story on a hopeful note, but I also wanted it to ring true to anyone who has experienced any form of a mental health disorder so chasing what to use as a final photo was difficult for me because I wanted it to be a positive message but I didn't want it to be unrealistic or cheesy. The reality of disorders like depression and anxiety is that motivation is low and frequently anhedonia (loss of interest in things you enjoy) develops. These common symptoms inspired this photo for me. I love reading, and it is something that brings me great joy and an escape from the life. It is something achievable, so it inspired me for this photo.
As someone with a mental health disorder starts to improve little things like starting to do hobbies like reading reading or chores like laundry/cooking are great daily wins that should be celebrated. There are good days and bad days. Instead of portraying someone fully better with a big smile, here is someone on a good day who is able to get out of bed, get dressed, make themselves a coffee, and even start a new new book. For some people that is a huge accomplishment on a difficult journey. For each person it is a very individual journey, and I have seen in my experience so many personal stories. There are many steps backwards and forwards. I hope for anyone out there reading this blurb that you have more steps forwards then backwards, more good days than bad, and that slowly you get to a point where most days seem good.
To anyone who feels isolated, alone and ashamed, please reach out to family/friends, a doctor, counsellor, or helpline. I wish you all the best in this journey that has too long been unfairly stigmatized.

A golden evening--and what fun to chase the waves. ;-)
A little about Misty. She's a rescue--picked up on the streets of a Northwestern city, bedraggled and sick and more than a little skinny a few Januaries ago. She went to the pound where she got kennel cough, and then was rescued and nursed back to health by breed rescue (Australian Shepherd [ARPH--Aussie Rescue & Placement Helpline 1-877-ARPH-779]). She spent several months in rescue and was adopted out once and returned, because the people thought she was aggressive because she barked at bicycles. Not aggressive, just herding instinct. And perhaps a little time on the streets getting away with chasing things that moved. So finally Misty came to us, and it's been a long and fun journey (almost three years now--she's our "Earth Day Girl"). I can't even begin to tell you how fun she is. She loves everyone, has tons of personality, and is definitely one of the ruff and tumble fav's at our local dog club. Aussies aren't for everyone though, they're a commitment to a high-energy instinct driven velcro dog. Velcro--meaning they hang close to your side once they're bonded.

A close encounter with a Long Eared Bat.
I contacted the Bat Conservation Trust's Volunteer Bat Care Helpline to get some advice on the welfare of this cute little fella. Worried that about the Bat requiring care due to it’s location on a Station Platform and being out and grounded in the daytime.
The Trust kindly gave advise on the correct way to remove the Bat to a safe and quiet location along with a contact of a Bat carer, then he just gathered himself up and flew away…

Program mode (sometimes referred to as the "Programmed Exposure" or "Programmed Automatic" mode) is a bit more flexible. When you dial in the P, the camera might look like it's in the same sort of autopilot mode as Auto, but you have full control over a surprising number of settings, including ISO and white balance, which are unavailable to you in Auto.
• Programmed auto (P) should be the usual mode for experienced photographers, maybe S or A depending on your personal habits.
•You have to switch the flash on and off yourself.

Simulating a DSLR Camera -
Learning what happens, is you change settings!
e.g.

Simulation
camerasim.com/apps/original-camerasim/web/
-
DSLR sim controls:
Lighting
Lighting is the single biggest determinant of how your camera needs to be set. With only a few exceptions, you can never have too much light. Use this slider to experiment with different indoor and outdoor lighting conditions.
Distance
Use this slider to simulate how close or far you are in relation to the subject.
Focal length
Moving this slider is the same as zooming in and out with your lens. A wide, zoomed out setting creates the greatest depth of field (more things are in focus) while zooming in creates a shallower depth-of-field (typically just the subject will be in focus).
Mode
The exposure modes of an SLR let you control one setting while the camera automatically adjusts the others. In Shutter Priority mode, you to set the shutter speed while the camera sets the aperture/f-stop. In Aperture Priority mode, you set the aperture/f-stop while the camera sets the shutter speed. Manual mode is fully manual—you’re on your own! Refer to the camera’s light meter to help get the proper exposure. Although every real SLR camera has a “fully automatic” mode, there is not one here—what’s the fun in that?
ISO
ISO refers to how sensitive the “film” will be to the incoming light when the picture is snapped. High ISO settings allow for faster shutter speeds in low light but introduce grain into the image. Low ISO settings produce the cleanest image but require lots of light. Generally, you will want to use the lowest ISO setting that your lighting will allow.
Aperture
Aperture, or f-stop, refers to how big the hole will be for the light to pass through when the shutter is open and the picture is snapped. Lower f numbers correspond with larger holes. The important thing to remember is this: the higher the f number, the more things in front of and behind the subject will be in focus, but the more light you will need. The lower the f number, the more things in front of and behind the subject will be out of focus, and the less light you will need.
Shutter speed
Shutter speed is how long the shutter needs to be open, allowing light into the camera, to properly expose the image. Fast shutter speeds allow you to “freeze” the action in a photo, but require lots of light. Slower shutter speeds allow for shooting with less light but can cause motion blur in the image.
Happy simulating!

St Etienne France got the treatment this weekend.
Third in three days, i was getting a bit experimental with the letters the colours are down to what was left in the box but i'm happy with the results..
Since the now common place use of the term 'gay barrier' instead of border, 2nd line or skinny, we've decided to branch out into becoming a terminology helpline for all graffiti matters. From now on a 'gay barrier' will now be known as a 'Winton's cream guard' or 'the Barrymore line' two things you should never cross..

In Program mode, you dial in the right setting depending upon the situation.

Meine Wertung wurde bei Canon Deutschland veröffentlicht:
Canon PowerShot SX70 HS

This morning it was comfirmed... I have swine flu :(:(:(
Ive been really poorly for the last 4/5 days so I rung the helpline and they say I have it. When my dad went to the hospital to get me some tamiflu they said a lot of people on my street had it... they could have told me earlier. Im not feeling so bad today... my head and body aches and a runny nose but im better than most days :) The worst part is I cant leave the house... Its so boring... I cant walk the dogs or anything (my mum does it for me) I'm glad I have my animals to keep me company, theyre a great help :)
P.s. Carrots morning confused look is sooo sweet :)
I have my tablets now so I shouls be better within the next five days :)
A free wellbeing support helpline on 0800 069 6222, operated by the Samaritans and available from 7am – 11pm, seven days a week, providing confidential listening from trained professionals. A 24/7 text alternative to the above helpline - NHS staff can simply text FRONTLINE to 85258.
Most of us don't understand the strain Coronavirus has put on the NHS (and health providers world wide), remember the NHS isn't just an organisation its real people. People with all of the normal day to day worries and concerns just like you and me - that have been thrust into the front line were more British people have died than in all of the armed conflicts since word war II added together.
