Nord Star offers a "flying bridge" as an option ($10,000), but it's really just an outside steering station, with only a pair of seats, a wheel and instruments. In fog or at night, visibility is often better from an outside station, even though the helmsman might be cold and wet. Maybe the money's better spend on a powerful radar and big scanner.

Ilala - bridge.Captain Van Graaf and helmsman Adam navigating. The captain was stricken with a bout of malaria the day after this photo was taken and from time to time was seen venturing from his bunk in white dressing gown. Luckily for us he seemed to get over it fairly quickly.
