Louis XIV, le Roi Soleil - our beloved, sweet house cat. Silver-gray but with its golden eyes "le Roi Soleil" of his kingdom. Proud of his loving family by whom he likes to be served generously, tough and brave as long as we are near to him. We enjoy these royal audiences together, precious moments enclosed in our hearts forever.

Louis XIV - sun king of our house (Louis XIV/Netherlands ) - Louis XIV - sun king of our house. We are at home a lot more than usual so there is more often a moment to take a picture of Louis our cat. We really enjoy his presence and that is absolutely mutual. And let's face it, if your cat is looking at you like this, what would you do...

De visnetten in Rockanje niet gevonden die dag, maar de haven kende ik al gelukkig :-))
Dus ben ik daar maar blijven spelen met de middelen die ik had :)
Nice vintage objects that are still waiting to become antiques, the somewhat worn out appearance gives a nice atmosphere. They depict a time or a period because they are no longer in use as a consumer item, at most they still have a decorative or collector's value.

Steam engines - very impressive!. Many historic steam engines, impressive, large and hissing, and beautifully lit in the evening. Not only were they parked somewhere but they also drove around the old city center which got a lot of attention from the public. The sound of the steam whistles has long been the typical sound for another summer edition of the Vestingdagen event.

Some mist and sunrise at the harbour. Historic ships like this lightship are particularly beautiful to see. A perfect moment to photograph this for posterity.

Hellevoetsluis: Lichtschip 12 Shipping
The Lichtschip 12 Noord Hinder (Est. 1963) is the last lightship built in the Netherlands and today it still is in it's original state. After many years of service in any weather at the North Sea along the Dutch coast it was decommissioned on March 21, 1994. Nowadays it's a museum ship maintained and run by commited volunteers in the "Fortresse Holland - Maritiem Kwartier" harbour "Het Groote Dok" in Hellevoetsluis. Visitors can take a good look in every section of the ship and for those who dare climb the high tower to enjoy the unique historical harbour view. It still sails to events elsewhere assisted by two strong tugs.
Some ship details - the Noord-Hinder is 45.4 meters long, 8.35 meters wide, draft 3.2 meters, displacement 510 tons and was equipped with a few small diesel engines. The light, in an 18-meter tower above sea level, had a range of 27 nautical miles. The light from the 4,200-watt lamp was amplified by a Fresnel lens and emitted 2 flares every 10 seconds. It was also equipped with a radar beacon and fog horn.

Old Dutch scenes, British Dickens period, even American- and German themes and more in a multitude of houses, figurines, trains, sparkling lights and a colorful collection of sounds do the remaining rest. The shops use huge displays attracting lots of customers.
