The entrance into the hills from the Ogwen Mountain Centre.....If l remember correctly, as l took this many many many years ago now.

Typical Appalachian cove forest with Rhododendron maximum in bloom, Chinquapin Mountain Trail, Nantahala National Forest.

Name suggested by a comment from Cadeyrn Drust: these cove forests can be heavenly, until you have to bushwhack through the Rhododendron understory (whence the name "Rhododendron hell" to describe an Appalachian heath bald).

I can’t come up with a better pic so out of keeping with the season (UK) and in keeping with my mood.

A very dear friend from overseas womboyne7 appears to have survived what our planet threw at them in Australia and yet still managed through some back door (followers’ feeds) to post or open comments to what I interpreted as an ‘I’m still here and fighting’ utterly real and beautiful affirmation.

And another friend and guru of mine RonnieLMills 10 Million Views. Thank You All :) re-found his mojo this morning, capturing a sunrise which puts us us right there with him when it happened, struck and yet quiet, with awe and wonder.

I do hope happiness — if it isn’t already with you, happens by your way soon.

(Off to bed now, still with concern about her and her family and friends. but that she’s there, I know I'll drop off. Thank you for that, Victoria :-))

I am sure that this wasp felt like he was in "heaven" when he was inside this beautiful rose!

No, this is Iowa . . . the heartland!

Cruising along the ridge on County Road A-52, we find this wonderful open vista view to the northwest!

It's a beautiful time of the year to travel the back roads of Iowa, so many shapes, patterns and colors to enjoy . . .

Clouds/fog were so thick and low that it seems you are in heaven. Captured here are a couple passing thru the rice terraces on their way to work. In one of the villages in Yuanyang, Yunnan, China.

A peacock rests alone in the vitreous valley

With an innocent pose like it does not know

On it's feather's ventaglia, thousands of eyes

Empty since the end of oracles

Clouds create a hollow pillow

For sleepy heads to rest

By denying to submit to the whims

Of their unstable patterns, I glide above them all

Heaven below

Light as a thought, dropping the weight of millenniums

How far can one reach

The answer depends on who this one is

How far can one extend

As far as his limits go...

Take the black & white road and stay on trac, or take the dirty road to an unkown end

I shot this image in northern Arizona’s White Pocket just after a small storm moved out. I’d been exploring the sandstone features and waiting for the weather to break. The combination of clearing sky and late afternoon sunlight brought out the textures and patterns perfectly suited for a black and white image, one of those simple moments where the light finally came together.

Mas onde o céu infinito se abre,

para que a alma possa voar

Reina a branca claridade imaculada.

Ali não há dia nem noite,

Nem forma, nem cor,

Nem sequer nunca, nunca,

Uma palavra!

(Rabindranath Tagore)

God, hear me!

They told me you didn't exist, and I trusted them like a jerk.

But last night, in the garnet hole, I saw your heaven.

Suddenly, I realized they were lying to me.

If I tried to take a good look

on the things you created,

I'd understand right away that those

they denied that the cat is cat.

It's strange that I had to

get to this hell,

so I can have time to see your face

I like you so much...

That's what I wanted you to know.

There's going to be a terrible battle coming up.

Who knows?

Maybe I'll come to your place tonight.

We weren't good friends,

And I'm asking, my God,

will you be waiting for me at the door?

Look, this is how I cry!

I'm the one who's here going to start whining!

If only I'd known you sooner...

let's go! We have to go now!

It's ridiculous:

When I met you,

I'm not afraid to die anymore.

goodbye!

A prayer found in the backpack of a soldier who died in 1944 at the Battle of Montecassino ...

One of the most popular hiking trails in Kerlingarfjöll is the Hveradalir Trail: 11km. This trail takes hikers through a geothermal area filled with hot springs, mud pots, and steam vents.

The trail climbs and descends a few times. Even in mid-summer, have to cross snow to continue along the trail. After we crossed several ice-snow crossings, we found we were close to glacier, strong wind almost blew me away, even with snow pants and thin dawn jacket inside the waterproof jacket, I was frozen to death… then realized we went to the wrong trails, the trail signs were based on the wood pole colors, checked the AllTrials, had to go back… finally got on the right track before iPhone running out of batteries.

It was snowing, raining with strong winds, not so many hikers in the region, but you can still see the hikers scattered along the trail. The hiking shoes were stuck with mud, very heavy...

The area is a paradise for hikers, offering a variety of trails for different skill levels and interests. One of the most popular hiking trails in Landmannalaugar is the Laugavegur Trail. This 55-kilometer trail takes hikers through some of the most breathtaking scenery in Iceland, from Landmannalaugar to Þórsmörk. The trail offers a diverse range of landscapes, including colorful mountains, vast lava fields, glacial rivers, and even the possibility of encountering snowfields and glaciers. The trail typically takes around four to six days to complete, with huts and campsites available for overnight stays.

Another popular hiking option is the shorter and less challenging hike to Mount Bláhnjúkur. This 3-4 hour hike takes you to the top of a volcanic mountain, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. The trail is marked by colorful markers, making it easy to follow, and the reward at the top is truly worth the effort.

I love the clouds, sometimes the sky can look like a work of art. I think a sky without clouds is like a living room wall without a nice picture hanging.
