We lost Spot to feline leukemia in early January.
We were heartbroken, but we were just thankful the poor little guy didn't have to suffer very much.
This was one of the last pictures I took of him.
It seems that he hadn't been inoculated and he'd probably had it since shortly after he was born. We also went through all kinds of anger about the person we'd gotten him from. We were grateful in the end to have had Spot in our lives, even for so short a time.
And our vet is amazing, she's been very supportive and helpful, and when we're able to open to open our home to another kitten, we're definitely set up with one of the best caretakers ever.
We are heartbroken with the loss of Devon this morning. He was a sweet, fun-loving, goofy boy who touched our lives in a very special way. He was a big boy and we affectionately called him "our gentle giant"! He joins Christoph, our Shepherd that we lost in May '09, and Savannah, my black Lab service dog that we lost in January '10. Run free Snuggly Boy......have fun with Stopher and Vannie.
Scott Liu is heartbroken that reservations for Yoroniku were booked up for weeks. However, he finds a restaurant called Jumbo to satisfy his yakiniku craving. Our waiters speak very good English. Turns out one of them is from California.
Depressed. Bad day. Very bad day. This room is like my heart right now. Empty.

In 1500 AD, a girl is heartbroken when she is betrayed by the king of Ujjain. After the unfortunate incident she mysteriously disappeared. 500 years later a NASA scientist has a strange recurring dream of a mysterious girl. His baffling dream is linked to two passionate lovers, an ancient Shiva temple and the missing girl 500 years ago. If you like unique puzzles, thrilling romance and twists you won’t see coming, then you will love The Girl in the Dream (A Love Story planed 500 years ago).
So sad to visit this once oasis of beauty now burned out and barren state park (Cuyamaca). Memories of past days, riding my bike through this wild place, of my soul leaving behind my cares of suburbia behind for the day, were now replaced with a deep sadness that this place will never be like it once was. All of the photos I took that day were in color, but when I got home and started processing, black & white was all I could imagine for the final images.
After I posted this image I noticed a bit of an apparition on the left side of the image. What is the remnants of a burned out tree trunk looks more like a man sitting staring off in the distance. Seems fitting now, because that's all the enthusiasm I can muster for what remains of this once amazing park.
I was heartbroken to see this mess. The last time I was here 18 years ago, this building was structurally intact - roof, wall, stairs and all (minus windows). And I don't have pictures from that visit, either! Argh! does anyone have photos of Lonesome Mine when it was intact?
This is the north (front) side of the mill building. It was shaped like a giant wedge but most of the roof is collapsed now.
There were so many sad, heartbroken comments last week when I said "no more Ben in the snow pics 'till winter or extremely hot weather", that I have to relent. BEHOLD! Ben in the snow, albeit a rather light one.
;)
(Not our house, obviously, but all of our neighbors think Ben is the greatest thing on four legs.)
(Also, this was taken the day after Ben's second birthday. Just FYI.)

I am completely heartbroken that Shandy left us so suddenly without any warning. She was still playful and acted normal just yesterday. Just this morning she came over to me trying to tell me that she was not feeling too well. Sounds like a cough with phlegm, took her to the vet immediately and was told that it could be pneumonia. She drew her last breath at 7.40pm. Miss her so much already!!
