I hadn't visited Half Day Forest Preserve for a while…for over a month? (yeah, yeah, Garen, I know you don't believe me!) Because I was a little late for the sunrise, I began my walk at the opposite end of the pond. As I walked, I noticed that some trees had been cut down. I thought to myself, yes, that tree was looking rather bedraggled…wait…wait…did they cut my favorite tree down?
I reached the spot where I usually photograph this tree, and yes, sadly, the tree was gone. I guess it must've been diseased, because I couldn't really think of any other reason for it to be removed.
I guess this will force me to find more compositions at Half Day. Here's one from this past October, during that week of gorgeous misty mornings. The mist (not clouds) turned pink before the sun rose.
We sent a good lady to her eternal rest yeaterday.Only 54 years old,she was diagnosed with lung cancer 5 days before Christmas and passed 10 days after Mother's Day.Not only was she a beloved wife and mother, but also a caring nurse who helped numerous patients over her 25 year career.Donna was an athlete also-she played woman's hockey and softball,as well as running marathons. She didn't smoke and seldom drank. It makes no sense, and it is needless to say that all who knew her our heartbroken.I guess we never know when our time on earth is up,so living a life like Donna did is pretty important..
Well done Donna, and rest in peace-this one is going to hurt us left here for awhile....
Revelation 21:4 - And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
I visited the British Wildlife Centre again today and was heartbroken to hear that Frodo died on Friday. For so many years Frodo has been a wonderful, dignified and generous ambassador, both for his species and the British Wildlife Centre. He was quite probably the most photographed fox in the world and he has helped to educate thousands of children about their native wildlife as well as being a willing model for countless photographic days. I've been visiting the British Wildlife Centre for about 6 years and dear Frodo has always been there to greet me. He was elderly and died naturally - the best you could hope for him - but it's still very sad to think that I will never see his beautiful face again.
I was a bit miffed (actually heartbroken - Mlle Jolie I need you in my life! 🙏🙏🙏) about not being able to get any of the Boudoir dolls... so I decided to style my own dolls in my very own Boudoir Collection! First up - Veronique! I hope you enjoy!
I was heartbroken that one of my best friends lost her only sibling, her brother. I grew up next door to them. Richard was such a cute kid that everyone had a crush on him. He looked like Luke Skywalker. He was the lifeguard at the country club.
The only reason I didn't have a crush on him was two reasons.
1. He heard my mom screaming at me and, once, he saw me flee into the woods after I had thrown a glass of iced tea in her face. I ran and hid, believe me, and he was my lookout to be sure my mom didn't find me.
2. He was 2 years younger - the kiss of death in high school. Not cool. heh
Anyway, my sister always forces me to post certain pictures of her on Facebook. I decided to post one on my own, with a rhyme that expresses my love for my sister, Karen. I am blessed to have her in my life and wanted her to know before time passes so quickly it becomes a blur.
~My Sister, My Partner in Crime~ by me
I have two lovely sisters.
I love them equally.
But being very different
I love them differently.
This rhyme is meant for Karen,
My sister, my partner in crime.
She's the sister just below me
With her I spent most of my time.
For you, Karen, my fiercest rival
I spent hours planning pranks.
Though should anybody threaten you
I totally had your flanks.
My life was never boring
With you constantly around.
We understood each other
Without even using sound.
You've been more than a best friend.
You're more than a parent could be.
You're my sister, my partner in crime.
I will love you an eternity.
Llanddwyn Island is named after St Dwynwen, the Welsh patron saint of lovers. Legend has it that she was spurned by a prince and retreated heartbroken to the island. There she was granted three wishes, and asked to be given the power to grant the wishes of true lovers
My best friend in the world past away today. Bentley was always with me wherever I went, always in the background of my photo jaunts.
I am truly heartbroken and in despair beyond words.
I will always love you Bentley. You will always be in my heart.

We had to let our sweet Hanna go on Thursday. She was perfectly fine on Wednesday. She started to have seizures at night, could not get up, 2 of her legs were stiff. The seizures never stopped, even the Vet could not get them under control. Bloodtests and X-rays showed that she was in good health, most likely had a brain tumor.
This is one of the last pictures I have of her.
We are heartbroken.

I've been focusing on making music these past few months. I am so grateful for my genuine friends who have supported me so far on this musical extravaganza, but I am also heartbroken over the various visceral disappointments which lead me to write these dreampop tracks in the first place.
Can't wait to move.

She sighed with relief - the colonel did not prevent her leaving. She left the eerie shoppe, heartbroken, and went to the police with her discovery.
Friends taken too soon are the most difficult to come to terms with. Even more so when both of whom saved your life - years apart. So I landscaped a garden for them to forever be safe in within SL.
Love and miss you always - Hannah - 23 - 2020, Johnny - 27 - 2015.

While cleaning out my parent's apartment I struck gold when this old photo showed up. I was like, omg, this is my father and his beloved dog Dickie... and his first guitar! I'm thinking he's around 12 or 13 in this image. From the stories he told me over the years and that I still remember, my Dad left school after finishing Grade 8. This wasn't unusual in those days. I'm sure his parents didn't care, putting food on the table was more important.
So he was sent away for the summer to work on some relations farm, somewhere in the Okanogan and he wanted to bring Dickie but that was nixed. He told me they worked him like a slave, fed him very little and made him sleep in the barn. Even when recounting this years later he would get angry.
Eventually, he was freed and he took the bus back down to Surrey to his family's homestead, fulling expecting Dickie to greet him with doggie affection, but... no Dickie. He was perplexed, everyone was nonchalant, oh, he must have run away so my heartbroken Dad searched and asked around but he never found him.
- fast forward approximately fifty years.....
My Dad and his younger brother Dan are out somewhere enjoying their time together, reminiscing about the past and Dickie comes up in the conversation. My Dad pensively wonders what happened to him. My uncle is incredulous and says " Don't you know? Old Man Dyck shot him! I thought you knew". Mister Dyck ( name changed to protect his progeny) was a cantankerous old bugger that lived nearby. He came by one day to visit, had been sitting on their porch, and for no reason whatsoever, had suddenly picked up his 22 and shot Dickie......
I don't know what happened next, was my grandfather outraged? were words exchanged ? but my uncle says that he helped bury the dog and was sworn to secrecy. And despite my Dad's pleadings, searching and sorrow, it remained a secret from him for over fifty years.
He told me this story while we were enjoying watching doggie antics at a nearby dog park. We both had tears in our eyes, but I could see my Dad wasn't just sad, he was angry. With his voice trembling with emotion he told me that " he wanted to find the old bastard's grave and piss on it"
I like to think that Dickie was waiting for my dad on the other side, finally reunited after over 70 years, a boy, his dog and maybe even his guitar :)
one evening there was a lovely iridescence at the edge of the sand, as the ocean's waves flowed in.. something i've not seen before or since
dearest friends,
am heartbroken to even write of this..
yet feel i need to, so to have a prayer here
found out 2 nights ago that a close friend from my film-making days was one of the four people on a small sloop sailing in the arabian sea who were taken captive, for ransom, by 19 somali pirates ...
they endured God knows what for 5 days.. then were murdered by the pirates.
(here is a news story about it and about scott & his wife jean.. because.. i can't write about it ..
there are many news articles about it and about them, but feel this one is closest to telling their story in the truest way - especially the last 1/3 of the article.)
tonight i did write about scott and our friendship, with stories of our times on movies together ... and especially about what a truly fine person he was.. funny, caring, smart, generous, kind ..
but then erased it
because..
for now, i really just need to have this prayer here for scott .. and for jean, his wife & soulmate..
and for their two friends from seattle who were also accomplished sailors, phyllis macay and bob riggle.
they too, from what i've read, were bright bright lights .. (bob was a veterinarian who, after retiring, was dedicated to helping animals in shelters.. gratis)
to these dear souls ..
God bless you ~~
whatever you endured, my prayer is that you are now safe in the very lap of God *

I had such a great time working on this school assignment. I had to select a word from a list our teacher gave us and express it however I wanted. I chose the word broken and ended up creating this selfportret with a little help from my mate, Manuel;)

And people who lost their lives today in this horrible Connecticut shooting.
I am heartbroken at the thought of all of it. Just so sad. I can't think of anything else. I can't even read about it anymore.
We were heartbroken to have to say goodbye our lovely kitty, Leila, in the middle of lockdown. She had been poorly for several months, but sadly it got too much for her. We have lost several cats in the last few years (due to age-related conditions) and Leila was the last. You can never, ever replace them, they are all such unique personalities, but we could offer someone a forever home.
So we are delighted to welcome our lovely new kitten, Scotty 😺. He is totally adorable 😻. As you can see from the photo, he’s settling very well into his new furever home. He is very playful and our house has turned into a kitten theme park 😹. We love our little Scotty, he’s pawsome 😻
Big thank you to the wonderful Yorkshire Cat Rescue centre 😺

i've been wanting to try self-portraits for a while- this one is so silly but it was a lot of fun to make, haha.
ironically i really dislike the color pink, but this time it worked for me.

It really is possible to die of a broken heart, scientists have found.
The immense grief of losing a loved one means that many people die within three years of their husband or wife.
Researchers at St Andrews University have identified a 'widowhood' effect which they claim does not just affect elderly couples, also occurs amongst those in their 30s and 40s.
They found that 40 per cent of women and 26 per cent of men died within three years of their partner.
The study, which will be published next year in the journal Epidemiology, identified a range of causes including cancer, heart diseases, accidents and suicides.
Professor Paul Boyle, chief executive of the Economic and Social Research Council, who led the study, said: 'The key message is that it doesn’t matter what causes of death you look at there is still a widowhood effect.
'This is a clear demonstration, we would argue, that social effects, such as losing a partner, have an impact on life expectancy.
My little Chipster has been missing now for three weeks. I'd would appreciate everyone's Help in finding him. He has quite a few aliases I listed in the Tags, he may be in your neighborhood using one. I believe he was last seen in the company of one Cherie Chiprump, a bit of a floozy me thinks.
If any of you can print out this poster for your office bullitin board it might help find him.
Many thanks to those of you that have sent cards and flowers during my period of despair..(candy helps a lot too)
