February is American Heart Month, and this first Friday, the 7th, is National Wear Red Day — a day dedicated to raising awareness about women's heart health.

Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the U.S., www.nhlbi.nih.gov/education/american-heart-month,

but it is largely preventable with proper medication, diet and exercise!

#WearRedDay, #HeartMonth.

Hugs, kisses and a healthy heart to you all! Moxxie❤️

My late post to raise awareness for Women's heart health-

and also- Go Pats!!

Ice crystals in a bottle of acal-blueberry-pomegranate Vitamin Water Zero. I put it in the freezer with an open cap in case I forgot to take it out in half an hour. I did remember, and it had lovely purple ice crystals inside. Fortunately, I thought to grab a few photos with my iPhone 6 Plus, that is always in my shirt pocket.

Happy Sliders Sunday -

The photos didn't show the color very well so, this photo was "Processed To The Max" using Apple's new Photos app and an extension called SnapHeal.

My weight is dropping and I've lost an inch off my waistline❣️ My pants almost dropped off at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Fortunately, I caught them in time 👏🎶👏

I'm following Dr. Gann's six weeks "Diet of Hope"! You are measured, weighed, and health monitored weekly. Dr. Gann is in Tucson. Your primary care physician can write you a referral. I highly recommend doing that if you need it.

In addition, I recommend you read "Wheat Belly" by William Davis, M.D. It explains that modern wheat is not the wheat our grandparents ate. It is specially created to increase yields by a factor of ten. It is also highly toxic to humans, causing many diseases including obesity, Celiac's disease, and diabetes.

I have a wheat belly, and I am getting rid of it.

My Loseit! app that I use to track my progress in my iPhone said yesterday I have lost 15 pounds, equal to the weight of a bowling ball...:))

I still need to drop another 15 pounds. I just want the residual spare tire around my waist to completely disappear. I want to be normal again as I was for most of my life.

Extensive research has shown that red wine enjoyed in moderation, is good for heart health. Happy Macro Monday!

Health is a relationship between you, your mind and your body. It's all about quality of life and finding a happy balance between work, friends and family. Celebrate Life and be happy!

"Good Health”

May everyone have a delightful evening..

To All My Family and Friends - My Love To You All

First, Shabbat Shalom. May it be the best one so far, with many wonderful ones to follow...

After being successfully treated for Tachycardia about seven months ago, I have once again developed a very rapid, fluctuating heartbeat. This began about two months ago. Sometimes with pain at the heart, but I can deal with pain. The rapid heartbeat is something else. It is profoundly exhausting.

This time I have what is called Atrial Supra Ventricular Tachycardia. Once again, I will undergo a procedure in the hospital tomorrow where they will shock my heart to stop its beating. Hopefully it will restart with a more normal, slower rhythm. If it doesn't, and if they can't get it going again, this may be my last full day on the planet Earth.

So, I decided to celebrate. In the last week, I have had a few delicious meals at home, at the home of a dear friend on Shabbat, at Eli's Deli at Rosemont and 5th Street, and a few cookies, ruggelach, and fruit and nut pastries from Nadine's Bakery on Broadway west of Swan....;)

And, I had apples and honey for Rosh Hashanah!!! Such fun,,,:))

Today, Miss Cecily and I tossed our sins, in the form of breadcrumbs, into the lake at Fort Lowell Park. The ceremony is called Tashlich, from the Hebrew verb Leeshloach, to throw. The ducks and turtles really enjoyed them.

It's a good week to finally meet HaShem, my maker, and to be reunited with my wonderful Mom and Dad, Grandparents, and all my delightful and fun Cousins, Aunts, and Uncles!! And all my old friends who have preceded my departure.

Please consider this note my New Year's gift to you, as Queen Esther ordained for us to give gifts to show our love for each other. It is a gift from my heart!

I have already reviewed my life, and discussed my flaws, my failures as a human being, and my good points with HaShem.

If I don't see you again, to all my friends and family, it has been a real treat to know and to love you. I wish you all a sweet year with much happiness and fulfillment...

Fried eggs, butter, olive oil, and spices are all on the Atkins Diet.

The Atkins diet is mainly proteins, fresh vegetables with low sugar content, and fats. NO grains, and NO sugars!!!

With zero sugar and zero grain intake, your body goes into Ketosis and then it burns the body's stored fats first. It does not store new fat deposits.

Fortunately, Atkins diet recipes are lush and rich and satisfying. For example, I can have all the delicious freshly prepared whipped cream I want, with or without cinnamon and pumpkin pie spices, but no sugar.

Since being diagnosed with paroxysmal AFib (Atrial Fibrillation) I have noticed that many people I speak to have no or little idea what this is, even though it is a fairly common condition that could affect almost any adult, regardless if you have a pre-existing heart condition or not.

The ECG (EKG) trace above was taken during one of my own AFib episodes on my Kardia mobile pocket device.

So, as part of my 'heart attack to 10K' series I have written this blog to try and raise a little bit of awareness ...

Worldwide, 8.6 million women die from heart disease each year, accounting for a third of all deaths in women. Today is National Wear Red Day to raise awareness about heart disease in women. Coming from a family that has had more than it's fair share of heart problems, I know that I am at an elevated risk for heart disease. Growing up, I didn't think much about that because I was so active in soccer and ate a very healthy diet. These days? I could use a kick in the ass to get myself focusing on my heart health. And so could you.

Check out these statistics about women's heart disease. Scary.

On a side note, I love this sweatshirt. I bought it in Las Vegas on a trip with my cousin about seven years ago. In case you couldn't tell, it says England across the front. I love French Connection stuff. I bought a bunch of their FCUK shirts when I was living in London. Anyway, there you go.

Yesterday sucked balls. Today will not. I won't let it. I am bound and determined to remain in a good mood all day today. I know a lot of my friends had crappy Thursdays too and I hope that they have absolutely amazing Fridays.

TGIF!

yes, in the bathtub for soft skin, but most importantly for the ticker...

"Soluble fibre in foods such as whole grains can help to reduce blood cholesterol levels.2 According to the Harvard School of Public Health, a number of large, long-term studies have shown that high intake of dietary fibre — particularly cereal fibre — can help to lower the risk of heart disease.3 Oats have the highest proportion of soluble fibre of any grain."

On 9th Feb I set myself the target to run parkrun in under 35 minutes by my 250th parkrun.

My best ever parkrun time is 26:32 and around that time I was regularly finishing in 27-28 minutes.

Those heady days are long gone of which some is down to aging and my evolving heart condition developing persistent AFib (ablation Dec 2023, A/F free since Jan 2024) and then CI (exercise intolerance), but I was hoping some of it was also due to a lack of self-discipline and will-power that I might be able to improve upon.

Since setting the challenge I have achieved the following times:

• Run 228 – 36:37

• Run 229 – 36:43

• Run 230 – 37:11

• Run 231 – 36:41

• Run 232 – 37:07 (yesterday)

If nothing else I am proving very consistent but I am starting to think this is about as good as it can get and maybe the target is out of reach. I believe my problem is caused by CI (Chronotropic Incompetence).

When first diagnosed via a stress exercise test in June 2023 (61% of predicted age heart rate) it seem to align with the start of my poorer parkrun times but it is difficult to find out what it really means and what to expect, whether it is progressive or if I could work to improve the condition through exercise? Whenever I have asked healthcare professionals about it they seem fairly vague.

Does anyone know anything about this condition and whether I can expect to improve my performance levels?

My parkrun records - PB remains 26:32, post Covid PB 30:31, CI PB 35:40, AFib PB 36:45
