Crewe Hall, a notable Jacobean mansion near Crewe Green in Cheshire, England, was built between 1615 and 1636 for Sir Randolph Crewe. Regarded as one of the finest Jacobean houses in Cheshire, it's listed at grade I. The hall underwent extensions in the 18th century and Victorian alterations by Edward Blore. After a fire in 1866, it was extensively restored by E. M. Barry, featuring works by various artists like J. Birnie Philip and Henry Weekes. The estate's park, landscaped by renowned designers including Capability Brown, is adorned with formal gardens by W. A. Nesfield. Now a hotel, restaurant, and health club, Crewe Hall retains its historic charm.

Katie works as a lifestyle consultant at the Health Club where I make regular visits to the pool. She was happy to agree to pose for portraits and, finally, one day last week, her shift and my swim coincided, plus I had taken my camera along with me.
We went outside to escape the busy reception area and found that the beech hedge in the car park was a good backdrop for a few shots.
Katie is passionate about leading a healthy, happy life and has a variety of interests. A special passion is musical theatre: she sings soprano and has competed in a number of singing festivals.
I would have liked to include Katie in my Human Family portrait series but she has such a welcoming, sunny personality that I had begun to know her before actually realising she was a recently new member of staff.

Built in 1904 this building originally provided the offices of an Insurance company. It now houses the "Ludwig" coffee bar and a fitness centre, complete with sauna, sunbeds and boxing ring.
The thing about converging verticals is that if you can't avoid them then make them so obvious that they could not be accidental.
I backed up as far as I could but even with a 16mm lens I had to tilt the camera to get the whole building in and had no room to modify the converging verticals in post-processing. But that was on an APS-H camera, which makes it a 21mm equivalent. This really needs to be revisited with the same focal length on a "Full Frame" camera or, if that does not do the job, with a Tilt-Shift lens.
