This chromed steel headset was produced for Olmo Biciclissima by Magistroni. During the 50s and 60s Olmo was one of the largest bicycle brands in Italy. Olmo Biciclissima was founded in 1938 by former champion and world hour record cyclist Giuseppe Olmo. Today, Olmo continues to produce a complete line of top quality bicycles.
With this headset, you can run an 1 1/8 NON-Tapered fork in an older bike that normally takes a American Standard 1" threaded headset (32mm). Fits old Schwinns and other American cruiser bikes, some bmx bikes and some older mountain bikes. Made in the USA, 45.00 shipped. Cane Creek is about to introduce a headset with an integrated steering damper devise intended to mitigate shimmy. They're calling it "Viscoset". So far it's only available for 1.125" steerers, because it's aimed at the E-bike and down-hill markets. Low trail randonneuring bikes seem to be predisposed to low speed, no hands, shimmy; but most of those bikes have 1" steerers. I got my hands of a few pre-release Visocets and I made my own cups to adapt them to bikes with 1" steerers. I've got one on my bike, which did have the no hands shimmy, and the shimmy is totally gone. Fingers crossed that Cane Creek makes a 1" version.
Last week, the annual hill race took place in Hemberg, Switzerland. This eighth edition was an exciting way to start off the season. Nearly 170 race drivers created thrilling action and engaging duels that entertained an audience of 7000 people. Riedel was proud to be there and wishes all racers a successful season.
