There's a very approachable redtail
hawk that hangs around where I work at
Chedoke Hospital.....I don't know if he's a juvenile and doesn't know any better or if he's just become used to the people walking between the buildings, but you can get within 20' of him.....I finally got smart and brought my camera and 300mm lens to work one day.....
I believe this was a popular favorite at backyard gatherings and picnics in the late 40s. Families were larger back then and so is this basket. SOLD

Description: When I watched Iowa Hawkeyes football, I noticed Hawkeyes fans turned to wave to the children watching from the windows of the newly built University of Iowa's Stead Family Children's Hospital that overlooks Kinnick Stadium. Many of the children waved back were in a fight for their lives. The tradition is known as the 'Iowa Wave'. I was deeply impressed and warmed by this simple but meaningful guestures. A whole stadium turning and waving, which delivered the sporting spirit and Hawkeye spirit to the kids, gave the kids hope and courage, they could forget about their hospital life for just a few moments. Come on, kids!
