Just got back from a trip to a favorite sunflower farm!
“Flowers have an expression of countenance
as much as men and animals.
Some seem to smile;
some have a sad expression;
some are pensive and diffident;
others again are plain,
honest and upright,
like the broad-faced sunflower
and the hollyhock.”
~ Henry Ward Beecher ~
Take a close look at the shape of the Coke Bottle. The bottle’s shape is a guarded trademark for the Coca Cola Company. Anyone, anywhere in the world would know that this is a bottle of Coke, even if they could only see the shape of the bottle, but only a few people know why this is the shape Coca Cola came up with for their bottle.
Unknown to most, the shape of the bottle was one of the first attempts at using subliminal suggestion in print advertising. Even before Movie Theaters flashed pictures on the screen of Coke and popcorn, the Coca Cola Company was using subliminal suggestions in their print adds. Unseen in the picture was a reflection of a sexy women, reflected in the bottle. The curves of the bottle matched the curves of the woman. Even though by today’s standards she wasn’t sexually provocative, by the standards of the late 1940’s and early 1950’s she was. The word “sex” also appeared in the ad, scratched into the base of the bottle. The idea was, your couscous mind did not pick up on these subliminal suggestions, but your subconscious mind did pick up on them and would make you feel a little upset. The cure to feeling upset was to Have A Coke.
You almost have to be a mountain goat to get to these falls. It's straight up the side of a mountain, and takes what seems like nearly an hour to get there.
I kept asking people coming back down, "are we there yet?" They all assured me it was just a little bit further. LIARS, It took forever to get to the top, and I thought I was going to collapse upon arrival.
When I was able to catch my breath, I notice there were a large number of people both young and old sitting around on the ground and on rocks and seats made of boulders. I stood in the midst and asked in a loud voice, "Okay, who brought the beer?" A guy in his early 40's I think stood up and handed me a cold can of beer. I couldn't believe it, I was dumb founded. I just stood there with I'm sure a dumb look on my face, as I was in shock that there was somebody willing to toot a case of beer up the Matterhorn so he could enjoy a cold one at the top. I said, "THANK YOU", popped the top and let it slide down my throat. I was so thirsty and wonder why I never thought about bring a small bottle of water with me?
But then I never thought I was going to be climbing a mountain to look at a waterfall I never knew existed before then. Man that beer tasted great, and I almost never drink beer unless my wife and I spilt on when we get pizza which is nearly never. :^ }
----------------------------- JESUS ✝️ SAVES-------------------------------
SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS ALONE!
❤️❤️ IT'S ALL JESUS AND NONE OF OURSELVES! ❤️❤️
16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the SALVATION of everyone WHO BELIEVES: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD IS REVEALED, a righteousness that is by FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH." (Romans 1:16-17)
16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)
1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)
7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)
Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus died that death for YOU and I. The good news is there no more punishment for sin left, we were and are all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Both vision and rigorous research are required to develop an historic property properly, and the story at Town Creek State Historic Site is still being written as research and interpretive development continue, bringing the flourishing life these Native Americans lived into present-day view around this hill of earth and in the surrounding former cotton fields where lie the chronicles of an unknown people

Mount Gilead, NC – 2019NOV10 – The Town Creek Site:
For our 23rd wedding anniversary, after church Joe & I paused for a picnic lunch on our way to Town Creek Site, set high on a low bluff of an oxbow on the west bank of the Little River near its confluence with Town Fork Creek in Mt. Gilead, NC, on the sunny southern side of the ancient Uwharrie Mountain Range located in the southeastern Piedmont region.
The protohistoric Native American ceremonial center – listed in the National Register of Historic Places and designated a National Historic Landmark – is the first North Carolina State Historic Site, and it also remains the only state historic site in North Carolina dedicated to American Indian heritage, drawing astronomers, and visitors like us, from far and wide to this fascinating time capsule.
The Native American People legacy carries muffled mystery buried in its background of protohistory, a period that spans prehistory and history, when a culture or civilization had no developed writing but when other cultures notated its existence.
Excavating the earthen mound built of clay – one mound built atop former mounds – has been a focus of archaeological research under one director for more than half a century, an unusual phenomenon in the history of North American archaeology.
People lived here for 12,000 years, but why particularly here? The Town Creek site manager Rich Thompson shared with Joe and me how major rains will turn the ceremonial center into an island surrounded by floodwater then as well as recently, flooding from the parking lot halfway up to the front door of the Visitor Center.
Why the name Indian: fueled by bravery and ignorance financed by greed and arrogance, Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492, heading "to India" but reaching the New World, and the Town Creek people vanished with no clue; we have no written record of explanation. Today we see these lovingly-reconstructed structures and can look and learn in amazement and wonder. So we invite you to view the best of our photos we set into 6 mini-themed albums:

At the top of the La Rambla de Catalunya and Via Diagonal, is the Coquettish Giraffe sculpted by Josep Granyer i Giralt.
Everyone and anyone, even maybe you have met someone and somebody lingering and meandering.
Yes. It is a whimsical piece and on this Semana Santa (Easter Sunday) he has primped him or herself for you.
Everything about him for me screams guy.
Could it be the mirror that does so?
I have been surprised by the positive responses to my recently posted photos taken in the first week of June. It was my first time in nearly a year of dressing as a woman and I did have a lot of fun and reward from the experience.
I was very much out of practice and all over the place and this manifested itself as swapping wigs all the time. I loved the short hair wig style but just before I settled on that look I was drawn to a longer wavier style.
I am now in my mid fifties so my looks, not that I ever really had any, are fading now and my skin is getting rougher but such is the way of things. I wanted a photo in harsh sunlight to really reveal how I look and I got one! It does not mean I cannot enjoy the delight and thrill of wearing make-up, lingerie, dress and high heels, I adored my male to female cross-dressing experience, it felt amazing!
I have no real idea why I feel a desire, indeed a need, to dress as a woman and try and act is if I am female, all I know is I feel real joy and inner comfort when I do engage in transvestism, it is always a fulfilling and satisfying experience. I am aware I look rough and not really feminine but I still feel delight when I attempt to try and look like a woman. I simply have to set free this aspect of myself now and again..I love it too much to give up on it.
Enhancements have been made to the Batman Armory by GeeWhiz Customs and it has been expanded to depict the Dark Knight's subterranean portside hideout in The Dark Knight Movie.

We tend to celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied ad multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.
We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.
“A concise poem about our work as stated elow
A place without being
a thought without thinking
creatively, two dimensions
suspended animation
possibly a perfect imitation
of what was then to see.
A frozen memory in synthetic colour
or black and white instead,
fantasy dreams in magazines
become imbedded inside my head.

surrealistic hues,
a photographer’s instinctive eye:
for he does as he pleases
up to that point he releases,
then develops a visual high.

1. I was born 67 years ago. I was the youngest of 10 children, born at home. I lived in the country until I was around 9. In grade school, I worked at my dads creamery after school. In high school, I worked as a waitress after school, and week-ends. I got married at the age of 19. I had three children, and they are all in there 40's at this time. I have been divorced. I have been married to my last husband for 21 years. He has 2 children in their 20's. Together, we have 9 grandchildren.
2. When I was in grade school, Hopalong Cassidy came through our little town, on a train. Many were waiting for him to get off. This was a big event for us. Movie stars, wow. He kissed me on the cheek, and I ran to the creamery to tell my family. I really felt special. He must have seen the joy on my face, and couldn't resist.
3. The first two pictures below, was a hard time in my life. I got ring worms from a dog. I had to get all my hair cut off so they could give radiation treatments. My hair did not grow back for around a year. My mom got worried, but didn't tell me until they started to grow. I wore a scarf to school to cover my head. When they grew out, they were so curly, as you can see.
4. In my first years of marriage, to my children's dad, I became addicted to diet pills and alcohol. I know that I use to love to party in my teen-age years. Around the age of 32, I went to treatment for drinking and drugs. I was there for 31 days. It has been 35 years since my last drink. Thank God. I went to AA for 10 years until I got saved. I then no longer needed AA.
5. Twenty Five years ago, I truly asked Jesus into my heart. Shortley after, I got filled with The Holy Spirit. I am Penticostal. Having The Lord in my life is helping me to become an overcomer, in all areas of my life. I am far from perfect, but I am on my way.
6. I smoked one to three packs of cigerettes for around 30 some years. I had some growths in my throat that hurt clear to the back of my neck. One night, when I went to church, an evangelist prayed over me and said that I need to get rid of this, that is causing it. He didn't want to embarrass me about smoking in front of everyone. My healing began a week later, when I threw my cigerettes in the middle of a prayer meeting. It took around 3 years for my healing. It was a gradual healing as I walked in faith believing. I figured if The Lord told this evangelist, I better quit if I wanted to live.
7. In my 30's. I was involved with a movie. Up the Academy. They needed a crowd in the cheering section. I got to jump up and down, cheering. It was very interesting to watch them make a movie. I even got paid. Below is a picture of me with Tom Postum. I am not sure I spelled that right. I also got to have pictures taken with around 4 or 5 more actors. I decided to just put one picture in. Below is a picture also of Brenda Lee, when she came to Salina. She said that I could take it. If the pictures do not show up below, I wasn't suppose to put that many in. I will know when I am done.
8. My interests now is God, Family, Angels, and Job
9. My addictions are, starbucks coffee, flicker, sweets, flicker, snacks, flicker. God bless you all.
Some of you may have noticed that, unfortunately, owing to the fact that a certain person who sells truck photos on eBay commercially has been lifting my images from this album and selling them I have had to remove 2300 photos that didn't have a watermark. I have now run around 1700 through Lightroom and added a watermark with the intention of bulk uploading them again. Rather than watermark the existing (hidden) files in Flickr one at a time it will be easier to do it this way. I definitely won’t be adding individual tags with the make and model of each vehicle I will just add generic transport tags. Each photo is named after the vehicle and reg in any case. For anyone new to these images there is a chapter and verse explanation below. It is staggering how many times I get asked questions that a quick scan would answer or just as likely I can’t possibly answer – I didn’t take them, but, just to clarify-I do own the copyright- and I do pursue copyright theft.
This is a collection of scanned prints from a collection of photographs taken by the late Jim Taylor A number of years ago I was offered a large number of photographs taken by Jim Taylor, a transport photographer based in Huddersfield. The collection, 30,000 prints, 20,000 negatives – and copyright! – had been offered to me and one of the national transport magazines previously by a friend of Jim's, on behalf of Jim's wife. I initially turned them down, already having over 30,000 of my own prints filed away and taking space up. Several months later the prints were still for sale – at what was, apparently, the going rate. It was a lot of money and I deliberated for quite a while before deciding to buy them. I did however buy them directly from Jim’s wife and she delivered them personally – just to quash the occasional rumour from people who can’t mind their own business. Although some prints were sold elsewhere, particularly the popular big fleet stuff, I should have the negatives, unfortunately they came to me in a random mix, 1200 to a box, without any sort of indexing and as such it would be impossible to match negatives to prints, or, to even find a print of any particular vehicle. I have only ever looked at a handful myself unless I am scanning them. The prints are generally in excellent condition and I initially stored them in a bedroom without ever looking at any of them. In 2006 I built an extension and they had to be well protected from dust and moved a few times. Ultimately my former 6x7 box room office has become their (and my own work’s) permanent home.
I hope to avoid posting images that Jim had not taken his self, however should I inadvertently infringe another photographers copyright, please inform me by email and I will resolve the issue immediately. There are copyright issues with some of the photographs that were sold to me. A Flickr member from Scotland drew my attention to some of his own work amongst the first uploads of Jim’s work. I had a quick look through some of the 30 boxes of prints and decided that for the time being the safest thing for me to do was withdraw the majority of the earlier uploaded scans and deal with the problem – which I did. whilst the vast majority of the prints are Jims, there is a problem defining copyright of some of them, this is something that the seller did not make clear at the time. I am reasonably confident that I have since been successful in identifying Jims own work. His early work consists of many thousands of lustre 6x4 prints which are difficult to scan well, later work is almost entirely 7x5 glossy, much easier to scan. Not all of the prints are pin sharp but I can generally print successfully to A4 from a scan.
You may notice photographs being duplicated in this Album, unfortunately there are multiple copies of many prints (for swapping) and as I have to have a system of archiving and backing up I can only guess - using memory - if I have scanned a print before. The bigger fleets have so many similar vehicles and registration numbers that it is impossible to get it right all of the time. It is easier to scan and process a print than check my files - on three different PC’s - for duplicates. There has not been, nor will there ever be, any intention to knowingly breach anyone else's copyright. I have presented the Jim Taylor collection as exactly that-The Jim Taylor Collection- his work not mine, my own work is quite obviously mine.
Unfortunately, many truck spotters have swapped and traded their work without copyright marking it as theirs. These people never anticipated the ease with which images would be shared online in the future. I would guess that having swapped and traded photos for many years that it is almost impossible to control their future use. Anyone wanting to control the future use of their work would have been well advised to copyright mark their work (as many did) and would be well advised not to post them on photo sharing sites without a watermark as the whole point of these sites is to share the image, it is very easy for those that wish, to lift any image, despite security settings, indeed, Flickr itself, warns you that this is the case. It was this abuse and theft of my material that led me to watermark all of my later uploads. I may yet withdraw non-watermarked photos, I haven’t decided yet. (I did in the end)
To anyone reading the above it will be quite obvious that I can’t provide information regarding specific photos or potential future uploads – I didn’t take them! There are many vehicles that were well known to me as Jim only lived down the road from me (although I didn’t know him), however scanning, titling, tagging and uploading is laborious and time consuming enough, I do however provide a fair amount of information with my own transport (and other) photos. I am aware that there are requests from other Flickr users that are unanswered, I stumble across them months or years after they were posted, this isn’t deliberate. Some weekends one or two “enthusiasts” can add many hundreds of photos as favourites, this pushes requests that are in the comments section ten or twenty pages out of sight and I miss them. I also have notifications switched off, I receive around 50 emails a day through work and I don’t want even more from Flickr. Other requests, like many other things, I just plain forget – no excuses! Uploads of Jim’s photos will be infrequent as it is a boring pastime and I would much rather work on my own output.
I hear people sayin'. We Don't need this war.
I say there's some things worth fightin' for.
What about our freedom, and this piece of ground?
We didn't get to keep 'em by backin' down.
They say we don't realize the mess we're gettin' in
Before you start preachin' let me ask you this my friend.
Have you forgotten, how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten, when those towers fell
We had neighbors still inside goin through a livin hell
And you say we shouldn't worry bout Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
You took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbin for you and me
It'll just breed anger is what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it everyday
Some say this country just out lookin' for a fight
Well after 9/11 man I'd have to say right.
Have you forgotten, how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell
We had neighbors still inside goin' through a livin' hell
And we vow to get the ones behind Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
you can bet they remember just what they're fightin' for
Have you forgotten
All the people killed
Yes some went down like heroes
In that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten
About our Pentagon
All the loved ones that we lost
And those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry 'bout Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten?!

This is my tribute to all the brave firefighters and policemen who kept order in a panicked city, rescued people from the rubble a midst falling debris, and put out fires that could have threatened more than just the Two Towers. I cleary remember September 11, 2011. I was 4 years old, we did not have a TV at the time, but our neighbor called us up and told us that a plane had just crashed into one of the towers. We jogged down the road to our neighbors house, and we all sat in a stunned awe as we saw the second plane crash into the other tower. I remember very distinctly seeing the siding of the towers come rumbling off, one floor collasping after another, people jumping out of windows to escape the fire only to smash onto the pavement below.
I will never forget that day.
Many famous people have been here at The Cranbury Inn. We can only speculate about the colonists & founding fathers who used the main thoroughfares connecting all of the colonies because there is no written documentation to tell us if this was the way a particular person traveled or if this was a post house or inn they stayed at during those travels. However, we do know that Mme. Chiang Kai-Shek and her entire entourage were here in April 1943, the Prince & Princess of the Netherlands were here, and the entire City Council of Moscow was here in 1995.
Albert Einstein came here frequently to drink beer with and speak German with his friend and inn owner Adrian Van Ravesteyn. Brook Sheilds came here when she was attending Princeton University. Paramount Pictures filmed scenes from the movie “I.Q.” here featuring the inside and outside of The Cranbury Inn as “The Old Geneva Café” so Meg Ryan, Walter Matheau, Lou Durning, Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, and all the producers and directors were here at The Cranbury Inn for four days. Various news personalities have had dinner here away from the limelight so their names are not mentioned at this time, and someday we hope you will be here too.
While having a drink outside the Well and Bucket pub on Bethnal Green Road, Irene, Gillian and I met up with Amber - seen on the right of this picture. Amber was selling copies of ‘DOPE’ magazine, a quarterly street publication in newspaper format – essentially a journal of radical art and politics. 'DOPE' has become something of a rival to the better-known ‘Big Issue’ newspaper, sold by the homeless. Amber herself is currently without a fixed address.
Amber told us something of her former life as a sex worker, and how selling 'DOPE' had allowed her to quit that exploitive and dangerous sector. I wish we had had longer to talk with Amber, and I wish her all the best in all her endeavours. She had a lot of questions for Irene, Gillian and myself about our lives as t-girls…

We were talking about the great things
that have happened in our lifetimes;
and I said, “Oh, I suppose the moon landing
was the greatest thing that has happened
in my time.” But, of course, we were all lying.
The truth is the moon landing didn’t mean
one-tenth as much to me as one night in 1963
when we lived in a three-room flat in what once had been
the mansion of some Victorian merchant prince
(our kitchen had been a clothes closet, I’m sure),
on a street where by now nobody lived
who could afford to live anywhere else.
That night, the three of us, Claudine, Johnnie and me,
woke up at half-past four in the morning
and ate cinnamon toast together.
“Is that all?” I hear somebody ask.
Oh, but we were silly with sleepiness
and, under our windows, the street-cleaners
were working their machines and conversing in Italian, and
everything was strange without being threatening,
even the tea-kettle whistled differently
than in the daytime: it was like the feeling
you get sometimes in a country you’ve never visited
before, when the bread doesn’t taste quite the same,
the butter is a small adventure, and they put
paprika on the table instead of pepper,
except that there was nobody in this country
except the three of us, half-tipsy with the wonder
of being alive, and wholly enveloped in love.

Raphael (1485-1520) - Triumph of Galatea (1512) - Villa Farnesina - Rome
Galatea is a figure of Greek mythology, one of the fifty nymphs of the sea, the Nereids, daughters of Nereus and Doris, whose habitual residence is at the bottom of the ocean, with the father and who have the duty to assist the sailors.
The myth tells that Galatea was in love with Aci, a beautiful young man, and that the Cyclops Polyphemus, envious of the young man and in turn in love with the nymph, one day tried to lure her with the sound of his flute. Not having succeeded in his intent, surprised the pair of lovers, he flung a huge boulder, killing Aci.
As told in Ovid's Metamorphoses, Galatea, to keep his love alive, turned Aci's blood into a spring and he himself became a river god.
