This Jacobean house was built in 1611 by Robert Cecil, 1st Earl of Salisbury and Chief Minister to King James I. It is a prime example of Jacobean architecture. The estate includes surviving parts of an earlier Palace. It is currently the home of Robert Gascoyne-Cecil, 7th Marquess of Salisbury, and is open to the Public.

Watching the RHTT, Hatfield Lane, 7.11.15.

A few weeks ago 56105 was drafted onto the RHTT roster because one of the two class 66's previously used had developed a flat spot on a wheel.

 

The consist which also included 66848 is seen drawing into the station at Hatfield and Stainforth where a crew change would take place.

I have been to this location quite a few times this year and recorded the stress the trees have experienced throughout the summer after a decent springtime. This was taken back in August when the lack of rain causing the false Autumn colours.

National Trusts Hatfield Forest in Essex is beautiful in the springtime with the buttercups out on display. Well worth a visit if you can.

I enjoyed a walk around Hatfield moors National Nature reserve this morning.

Hatfield town centre underpass has lovely geometric tiling to brighten up this urban access. Funny enough the young ladies red hat matches the colour scheme adding to the joy of the picture. This is not meaning to be a street picture in the normal sense but the lady adds dynamics to this to this subterranean view.

The 'modern' part of the house, finished 1611, built on the site of the older Palace, some parts of which still remain, where Elizabeth 1st was raised. She gave the grounds to her chief minister, Lord Burghley. The house has been the property of the Cecil family (Earls of Salisbury) ever since and is open to the public.
