The next morning I woke up early and went for a little walk. I saw this dark cloud approaching me and I thought it was going to rain a lot. Fortunately it didn't and when the cloud was blown over the sun started to shine again.

Another one of the Croft at Cow Low. What a difference a bit of light makes to the colours and shadows, particularly important on film due to the low dynamic range. #hasselblad500cm #kodakportra #6x6 #analogphotography #your_peakdistrict

I am sometimes struck by how we can be unaware of the times we are participating in incidental art. Here are all these folks with other priorities on their minds unaware of the scene they have helped create that my camera and some manipulations of time are recording. Then again, I wonder too how many times I have wandered through a scene and in passing made something interesting that another photographer might be capturing. Our paths through this world are almost always limited to a POV narrow scope. We have but our two eyes, four other senses and one brain with which to perceive things and in the absence of a hive mind style consciousness that leaves us severely impaired in what we perceive, notice and realize. And that is not a complaint, just an observation. It just is. Even the random fellow standing on the sidewalk next to me while I made this exposure did not see this tableau as he was more interested in my Star Wars t-shirt and telling me about how great the burlesque show The Empire Strips Back was. We see what we see, and that can be a whole lot, but it is always so little compared to what we do not see.

My other favourite from the day at Blickling; this woman was sublimely photogenic and the light by the windows in the grand room was glorious.
And luck, as always, helped, too.
