Salt...every human's need in entire life...without salt there is no food and no world...

it is available everywhere...we are seeing very beautiful advertisement about the salt product from various brands...but there is an story behind this product...

Tamil Nadu is one of the few states that produce salt in India. In Tamil Nadu, salt is produced primarily in the three districts of Nagapattinam, Tuticorin and Marakkanam in Villupuram.

This is about the Salt production at Marakkanam in Villupuram Dist.

The salt pan workers work under extremely hazardous conditions. They work with the harsh sun beating down upon them under the open sky and have employment only for about six months in a year.

Their daily wages vary between 35 rupees to 85 rupees (US$ 0.78 to 1.9). Women generally get paid lower than men. In Marakknam, most of the workers belong to the Schedule Caste communities. It is estimated that about 3000 workers exist in Marakkanam area.

While poverty, indebtedness and deprivation are common to all the salt pan workers, the women, as in many other poor communities, become greater victims of poverty. Generally, they suffer from serious gynaecological problems and. malnutrition and anaemia are also very common. They also do not have support systems to take care of their children. They hardly have access to any quality medical care. Since usually both the parents go to work in the salt pans, it is not clear as to who takes care of their children.

I have captured their activities in three seasons ie., initial ground preparation, Salt making and storing, the final one is in the rainy season where the ground is full of water... I had been there many times to see their activities and i used to talk to them about their work and life balance, to be frank I was so shocked while seeing their work on the field...it was so hot and if we continue be there for more than 15min we may feel that the water level in our body will be completely drained out. such a hot and dry day whole day and everyday...

OUT OF MOVING WATER, or a MOSQUITO

Ever noticed how an oily film can form on the surface of tea, especially as it cools? Not sure if it is something in the tea or in the water which causes this, but whatever the reason, it can be quite interesting........It had never caught my eye before in quite the same way as it did on this occasion when the oil (or rather the gaps in the oil) looked just like an old withered tree. I've photographed old withered trees in the landscape many times, but never imagined I would see one in my cuppa! Lets hope there's no storm in this teacup or that tree might come crashing down and smash it! LOL!

Hardwater Mill, near Great Doddington. This was a quick iPhone snap before packing up, but it turned out quite well, so I thought it was worth sharing here.

I was shooting Fuji Acros 100 in my Minolta, which I will share if it is any good.

It warmed up last week melting all the rough spots off the lake. Just a dusting of light fluffy snow so going was good. Winds 10 to 15knts making for some great rides into the 50's.

Just an hour and a half out of Chicago, super fun way to get out and enjoy the winter.

I have already posted an iPhone snap of this delightful Northamptonshire location. This was taken on a film new to me: Fuji Neopan Acros 100. I have to say that I really like this film when developed in Fomadon R09 - which is Czech chemical company Foma's version of the classic Agfa Rodinal developer.

Hopefully, it is a combination I will get to try again; as long as Fuji don't delete it.

Once it reaches Cambridgeshire, the River Nene is pronounced Neen by the locals, whereas in Northamptonshire, it is pronounced Nenn. As a non-local, I have no idea where exactly the pronunciation changes; perhaps there is a handy sign to let boaters know.

Hardwater Mill on the River Nene in Northamptonshire

Clicked at the Salt Pans at Marakkanam Salt Pans, Villupuram Dt, Tamilnadu, India.

The Grade II-listed Hardwater Mill is just to the west of Wellingborough, on the River Nene. It was apparently mentioned in the Domesday Book. Milling ceased in 1946 and it is now a private residence. The present buildings date from the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

Woke up early this morning so headed out with the camera since it was a nice day. It was looking very autumnal with the spider's webs glistening with due in the early morning sun.

smoggy in chicago?? nah...

i guess it all depends on the mood... why can't these meds be any damn good??

why can't you be like an art house, foreign movie, frank and sexy, red balloons, and ennui? and a loof to me?

why can't you be like an outsourced government contract? i'm a fat cat getting away with anything. kicking some secret special powers, illumination rounds in showers. 'cause you're tearing your hair out... well we can have better flowers...

why can't you be like the chicks out on the road? some girls are happy just to see me. 'cause you've got moxie and a broken nose...

sometimes a blowjob's not enough. :) why can't you play a little less rough?

why can't you be thinking a little deeper into me? like j.d. salinger.

why do i challenge her in all these surface ways that you displease? why can't you be a little more at ease?

why can't you be like a hand-rolled cigarette? i'm not joking... this masochistic self-pity of smoking.

i keep provoking you to leave me...

why can't you be like a candle i can snuff? you're still a diamond in a rough...

why can't you be the part of me that's missing instead of leaving me for some other? said we're perfect for each other and i know we won't go spend our lives alone...

River Nene, Doddington

Northamptonshire.

Where we live the water would have enough chalk in it to supply 17 junior schools for a year if they didn't all have interactive whiteboards these days and not blackboards like what they did when I was at school even though now I think about it they were mostly green but it was a while ago so I can't really remember. Which means that every couple of months I spend an hour holding the steam iron over the kitchen sink while I press a button marked 'calc clean' which peels a couple of layers of skin off me and dribbles a bit of grit down the plug. Except this time I took a photograph of it and than spent another hour making it look like the kind of daydream you might have just after somebody poked you in the eye with a carrot.

Late autumn sunshine picks out the last of the leaves on the bank of the River Nene at Hardwater Mill, near Wellingborough.

This was from the first roll I'd put through my newly acquired 1937 Kodak Retina 1 (model 141), and I was just blowing the dust off my scale focusing skills. The base model Retinas did not have a rangefinder, so the photographer must rely on their judgement.

The Kodak "Gold" film I was using was from some expired film I acquired earlier this year. I rated it at 160asa to allow for it's age.

Whilst not as bold and colourful as other sunrises we've had lately, Tuesday morning's had some pretty pastel colours in it. Not sure this shot really does it justice, mind..

Salt...every human's need in entire life...without salt there is no food and no world...

As one diver catches his breath after an exhilarating dive, another diver holds his breath as he enter the water.

Parfrey's Glen is located approximately 5 miles north of Merrimac, Wisconsin. Though within the boundaries of Devil's Lake State Park, it cannot be accessed by vehicle from the rest of the park. A trail leads north into the natural area. The Ice Age Trail also passes through the site. Heavy rainstorms in 2008 destroyed the boardwalk that made up the last part of the trail, which leads to a small waterfall.

The exposed sandstone walls of Parfrey's glen contain pebbles and boulders of embedded quartzite. The walls are covered with moss and remain moist from seepage, and cool and shaded climate. This results in a flora more typical of northern Wisconsin with yellow birch, mountain maple, and red elder and several rare plant species, including the federally threatened northern monkshood (Aconitum noveboracense) and state-threatened round stemmed false foxglove (Agalinus gattingeri).

Additional rare species found here include cliff goldenrod (Solidago sciaphila), and two state-threatened birds, the cerulean warbler (Setophaga cerulea) and Acadian flycatcher (Empidonax virescens). The fast and cold hardwater stream, Parfrey's Glen Creek, flows through the gorge and harbors a rare species of diving beetle (Agabus confusus) and a rare caddisfly (Limnephilus rossi).
