This shot from Hintersee, Bavaria lay long on my harddrive unedited. I knew I wanted to do something with it, but quite couldn't figure it out.
When I rotated the image 180 degrees and the small island with the tree on it appeared to be hovering in the air I knew what I wanted to do with it.

Dual SpeedLiteEXII Triggered by pocketwizard TTL system. Strobe 1: photo top right pointed at ceiling. Strobe 2: aimed over data platter to strike white wall behind disk. Both strobes set to E-TTLII. Cropped with Lightroom 3.

Riding the bamboo train passing by these people with 30km/h. I found this shot on my harddrive and only now noticed the great smiles. This is what you see allover the country: genuinly happy friendly people.
A look under the hood at the insides of a desktop computer, taken for the Flickr Friday group theme, "BTS (Behind the scenes)."
I put this machine together in 2009 and retired it in 2020; we'd been through a lot together.
Strobist info:
The scene was illuminated by two Nikon SB900 speedlights placed 45° CL/CR, two-feet above and three-feet away from the subject. They were fired in Manual mode @ ¼ +0.7EV power through Neewer 24" x 24" softboxes.
The SB900's were triggered by three PocketWizard PlusX's.
Lens: Nikkor 10-20 mm f/4.5-5.6.

There are still a few photos left from Feb 16th on my harddrive. I haven't taken any photos in a few weeks because of work, snow and a patient family that waited while daddy went out hunting for northern lights, night after night in February :-) I didn't like this one at first, found the lights to be too much of a blur and without details, but as I've glanced through it a few times it seems to be growing on me, hopefully it will on you too!

More studio stuff from me. And yes, this little one adores her binky or whatever you call it!
I'm rapidly ending up on bed rest from this pregnancy and consequently can't really get out much for photosessions. I just hope I don't end up on total bed rest, so just doing studio stuff and taking it easy. Add to that, my main computer died a short and terrible death last week, so I feel pretty lost without it. Not to worry, it wasn't a harddrive failure, so no data lost. It's just massively inconvenient to be without a computer for 3 weeks until my replacement comes. Sigh.
And edited with the BW from my soft pop action. (yes, I have managed to get photoshop on my laptop and a rough callibration!) Also, the light set up. Had a large 4x6 softbox to camera right and a 6' reflector back about 4' to camera left.

Sorry I'm only on intermittently I will get back into the swing of it soon :). I cant wait to see these little wolf spiders again this year and I am hoping the 1DX will help me get some better images than the 7D is capable of, well at least with cleanness of the image. This was taken with the 7D with the MPE 65mm at f3.5 1/160 of a second and 500 ISO Not too sure how many images but over 150 I think and was taken with natural lighting. Also need to sort a flash diffuser out soon, need to get prepared for spring to start kicking in :)
Going through the harddrives and recent pictures at the moment soooo many to get through though lol but its great to have my own computer and getting back into photography again :)
