Happy 4th of July! 🎆 To all my Flickr friends in US and around the world.

This just popped up in my memories for July 4th from 2010! I rented a room in Pismo Beach with friends and we shot the fireworks from there. An expensive but easy way to enjoy the fireworks without the hassle and traffic jams!

The Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a sculpture carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore (Lakota Sioux name: Six Grandfathers) near Keystone, South Dakota, in the United States by artist Gutzon Borglum. The figures of America's most prominent U.S. presidents - George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt. The presidents were chosen for their significant contribution to the founding, expansion, preservation, and unification of the country.

The carving of Mount Rushmore began in 1927 and finished in 1941. The actual carving was done by a team of over 400 men who had come to the Black Hills looking for gold climbing 506 steps to its top each day. Remarkably, no one died during construction.

I'm making my husband's sun tea while we're camping. It has become a ritual. I made it for him one time years back and ever since then he has begged it to be made each time we go on our extended camping trip for the holiday. It is not hard to do and I thoroughly enjoy doing it for him. :)

Behind the Scenes: I couldn't decide which picture to post of his tea. I thought to do something I haven't done in awhile and make a diptych. Two is better than one. Hehe

🎆 Had an amazing time at the Marin County Fair watching the fireworks display for the first time! It was a truly mesmerizing experience. Although I wasn't familiar with the perfect viewing spot, I'll definitely be back to capture more breathtaking fireworks shots. The best part? No foggy weather to obstruct the view! Can't wait for my next visit!

Wild Turmeric (Curcuma aromatica) is a rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plant of the ginger family, Zingiberaceae.

Wild tumeric is an aromatic and pretty ginger with stout underground rhizomes. Foliage dies down in late in autumn and the rhizomes remain dormant in winter. The inflorescence appears in early spring from the base of the rhizome. Flowers are pinkish white in color, with an orange lip. The stalk grows to about 8 to 10 inches tall, and is crowned with enlarged colored bracts tipped with pink. Leaves appear after the flowers. When in full growth the plants can reach a height of about 3ft tall. Leaves are broad and very decorative, elliptic, 3-4 ft long, and 20 cm wide, leaf-stalk being as long as the blade. Turmeric has a long tradition of use in the Chinese and Ayurvedic systems of medicine, particularly as an anti-inflammatory agent, and for the treatment of flatulence, jaundice, menstrual difficulties, hematuria, hemorrhage, and colic. Turmeric can also be applied topically in poultices to relieve pain and inflammation.
