........And then........THIS happened.....
Now for the rest of the story. I was out recently photographing all kinds of birds. Spring is such a wonderful time for migrating and nesting birds. The area I was in has miles of open fields and is a great habitat for Northern Harriers. It's fun to drive around on the roads and look for them. I spotted a male harrier, aka the Gray ghost, and was very excited to have him close enough and in really good light. I lifted my camera to my eye and began to shoot. While I was shooting, I could see that another bird had passed through my viewfinder, but it was so fast that I had no idea what I might be seeing or even if I had it in focus. Well, it turned out to be a female harrier coming in hot and fast to steal the prey from the talon of the male harrier. This all happened so fast that I never actually saw any of it. I did notice as I was shooting that there was in fact a female harrier flying around and I switched my focus to her. She put on a lovely show for me. It wasn't until I was reviewing my images that I saw what actually happened. Not only did I see what had occurred, but I captured all of it. I still cannot believe the incredible luck. You'll notice that the female has her mouth open and yes, I did hear screaming. Please view the 6 photo series.
Whatever happens and comes in our way, it definitely has a purpose. By just looking at this photo, I can go back in time while walking towards Ratti Gali on this glacier.
Kashmir is truly a place beyond visual comprehension... gushing waters, low hanging monsoon clouds and evergreen forests.
Love Nature, Love Kashmir.
well it had to happen lol.
One thing I have found with the dancing is it seems to be helping with my body shape in as much as I do have a waist and hips of sorts and my legs are getting toned nicely once again.
So that's my little strip tease for a little while. normal service will resume in the next photo.
Well I'm back from a quick two-day stint at the Disney World with tons of great photography. It goes without saying that much of this great stuff wouldn't of happened if it wasn't for the folks at WDWphotography.com for arranging a photowalk week at the mouse house. One which had many photo-loving disney fans and some fellow flickrites roaming the lands searching for new and exciting ways to capture what makes Walt Disney World one-of-a-kind. I've met a lot of really great people, some i've been looking forward to meet as well as some new faces. I also met disney professionals Bob Desmond, Alain Boniec, and Lee McKee. Each one with -*decades* worth of experience capturing (and they are still capturing) all that magic that is Disney. They were very excited to meet us and told us lots of great stories while working for the mouse and shared their work. I particularly enjoyed chatting with Lee. He shared some really great photoshop tips and put together a large collection of great work he's done himself and with Alain.
Afterwards the group went to shoot Illuminations and the special Holiday edition of Illuminations. After the meet I ran to my car on the lot and came back to set up at the one location I had to re-do..the fountains of nations. The fountain itself is a wonderful base for long exposure but to combine it with fireworks is like that cherry on top it needs. So after waiting 20 minutes in the freezing Orlando weather that night, the wind was blowing around and my hands and fingers losing all sorts of feeling. I stayed there taking numerous shots as the show went on. This was one of the best shots i grabbed from the holiday version of Illuminations. This location was quiet. you could barely hear the music at the World showcase atop the constant flow of the fountain so I had to pay real close attention to the rockets as they flew up the pitch dark sky so I can hit the shutter at the right time.

I'm back, after a long absence here! Good to be back!
This is my third shot of last Summer's Blue Supermoon and this one was taken on the 31th August when full moon reached its peak.
The shooting spot here was further way from the one used in the previous night (last two photos posted). This one was about 6 kms away from the Sanctuary of Christ the King (“Cristo-Rei”), located on the south bank of the Tagus River.

Some get to roam London, Paris, Rome, the Alps and capture interesting street scenes and fabulous landscapes - I'm stuck in the country shooting weeds!! So...life happens in more ways than one.
I say this "tongue-in-cheek," though, because I believe and am thankful for where God has placed me.

Although I've been inactive, I've still been doing work on my 'The Walking Dead' prison moc, so I figured I'd give you a small peak from the tower.
I happened to look up at one point on my return hike and saw this.

I wasn't brave enough to lie on the slightly moist lawn, and the viewfinder wasn't a waist-level one, hence I ball parked the distance to those white flowers, but estimated that wrong and missed the focus. To my surprise, the resulting capture was quite dreamy and interesting, and somewhat three dimensional too. Maybe sometimes focus is really overrated, and by lucks or by accidents, perfect imperfections happen.

I just wanted to upload something.
if I had given a new year's resolution this would be it; make it happen
New year's eve was awesome. My friend Sara had made the most delicious 3 course dinner and the 6 of us ate until we couldn't move. At midnight we went to the town's square to watch fireworks. It was so cold but totally worth it.
I'm so excited about the new year! 2009 was my best year so far and I'm convinced 2010 will be even better. There's a lot of changes coming but I just look forward to them. bring it on!
There's a sort of Forest Gumpian function to our lives. A lot of stuff that happens is not probable. If you rewind, stuff that happened seems unbelievable. This is about the past.
Finding a place to live has been a life-long problem in California made worse today by rental housing being converted to short term rentals. In an upscale part of Silicon Valley, I was renting an industrial, former ambulance quarters: set back from the street and within walking distance of everything. A local government official who knew me had introduced me to the landlord. Window air conditioner? TV antenna? The owner could care less if I customized the place. Best of all, the rent was about half of the market rate.
Meanwhile, I stumbled on information about another local deal: a cottage on an abandoned estate (above). I told a friend who taught undergraduate classes. He reported the property had been foreclosed and was owned by a financial institution. The friend quickly moved in.
About a month later he had an opportunity which included relocation. He called me. "This place is tied up in a lawsuit. It's going to be vacant for years. You should move here," he counseled. "I already called the property manager and told them you're moving in." Well, then. I guess it's a done deal.
It was two and a half acre oak woodland in an area of 1-acre minimum lots. There were several buildings. The main house was over 8,000 square feet. You couldn't see the main house from the street. There was a functional, but cold, swimming pool maintained by a pool service. The place was somewhat overgrown and run down but also unreal. The original owner had been a retail chain tycoon. The garage had been built for carriages so my big Dodge would not fit inside the narrow doorways. I joked about it being a 'safe house.' In reality, it wasn't.
My neighbor had a Rolls Royce Silver something-or-other. Another neighbor had an elevator in their house and a diesel generator set that would light up whenever the power failed. There was a Ferrari in the neighborhood. The trappings of wealth were all over. Almost everyone was friendly.
I lived in one of several out buildings (not shown). The main house is shown. The only furniture in the main house was a table and recliner in the dining room used by me for reading. The dining room is the right portion of the building between the two chimneys. The restaurant-sized kitchen is out of frame to the right. The master bedroom is beyond the two-story portion of the home out of frame at left. There had been a lawn and irrigation at one time. These were weeds during the rainy season. I lived there for several years. At the end of my stay, the place was fully renovated. There was structural work. A note, "The leprechauns have been here and everything of value has been removed," was found behind fire brick during repair of one fireplace. Missing gargoyle heads were replaced. You get the picture.
There were many deer. A large, arthritic buck and I developed an understanding. There was a Great Horned Owl. Stellars Jays and Scrub Jays owned the place. Ravens? Yes. I found a fawn's head and vertebrae in the yard which I much later realized was a mountain lion kill.
The chief of a police department inquired about having a bachelor party. Invite a dozen people with guns over for some heavy drinking and running around the swimming pool? No, thank you.

Good evening to all of you!
I want to show you some of my last work. It was a very spontaneous shooting on Dec.31st last year. I spent my new years eve with my best friends in Rostock - Germany. After having breakfast we had the idea to shoot some pictures. Her boyfriend went to work and we did a brainstorming to get some ideas of what we could do. The idea was: Getting up on a sunday noon, after partying all night long, making some coffee to start the day. That´s the first result. Soon more of this series ;).
Regards, Marcus

With Federal Troops rendering honors, the 2022 re-enactment of the Lincoln Funeral Train passes one span of the Herr's Mill Covered Bridge, on its journey eastward toward Ironstone Station, not far ahead.
The structure pictured on the right is one of several historic structures which have been saved from potential loss by the Abel family of Elizabethtown, PA. In this case, the structure is one of two spans of the Herr's Mill Covered Bridge, which was decaying in its original location in Ronks, PA, not far from the Strasburg Rail Road. The bridge was disassembled and moved to the Stone Gables Estate, where it was restored and re-assembled. This span currently handles vehicle traffic from one of the entrances to the property. The remaining span has yet to be installed, but the current plan is for it to be part of the actual railroad....meaning the train will pass through it. Expect this to happen in the next few years.
While the railroad structures and rolling stock at the new Harrisburg, Lincoln & Lancaster Railroad are all quite beautiful, they are unfortunately becoming increasingly difficult to photograph. The landscapers on the property have planted hundreds of new trees, many of them within just a few feet of the track. Consequently, clear views of the train and equipment, which were available in 2019, now no longer exist. Hopefully, the folks who handle the landscaping will reconsider the placement of some of these trees and move them just a bit farther from the right of way, as this operation has enormous potential for photography and film making.

“Everything happens around us, but no one knows how. Everything appears before us, but no one sees the source. Together and individually, people value that part of knowledge that is already known. They don’t know how to use the unknown to with his help to achieve knowledge. Isn't that a delusion? ”

Make a first step! First step!
I decided to write this text for those who know me, and those who have not yet! The story of my life is firmly connected with the art of photography.
Meeting with people from different cities, countries; talking with supporters of different views on this wonderful world, I realized that I'm not the only one ...
Studying communication methods on the Internet, meeting with photographers in Russia and abroad, I was surprised to find that much has not been done in this industry.
Moreover, the changes of recent years that have affected everyone leave no chance for old methods of communication!
For three years of close contact with different platforms of photographers, I decided to take this step!
Gradually, my thoughts began to take shape in a project that I created in the midst of a "system switch".
Despite the skepticism of many, I am sure that what I have planned will be realized. Even if my efforts are not enough!
Indeed, as many have probably already understood, Photography is a process!
And the game, and especially if it is interesting, lasts longer than it is supposed at the beginning of the journey!
I wish everyone not to stop on the way! I will continue it not only Online at sites
