My spray-coated Bug minis await detailing, and hapless foes.

If one looks long enough, one can see faces in clouds; indeed, the same goes for abstracts possibly seen in rocks and boulders.

To me, these boulders resembled the head and body of an evil spirit, sitting in a river with arms outstretched, waiting to ensnare any hapless human who may stumble across the spirit's watery domain.

On the other hand, it could just be a photograph of a pile of random rocks in a nameless river; you choose.

According to Wikipedia, Pareidolia is - "the tendency for perception to impose a meaningful interpretation on a nebulous stimulus, usually visual, so that one sees an object, pattern, or meaning where there is none".

Phew! Thank goodness I'm not going crazy after all. LOL

The story

A long, long time ago- the world was torn apart by an infernal war between the Devas (celestial beings) and the Asuras (evil forces). Tired of constant attacks from the Asuras, the Devas paid homage to Lord Shiva and asked for his protection. Moved by their plight, Lord Shiva agreed to help the hapless Devas.

Lord Shiva opened the central eye on his forehead, radiating six sparks of fire. At the convergence of these sparks and through a series of celestial transformation, Lord Murugan appeared. He brought forward this powerful divine personality with elements of Himself and yet distinct from Him, powerful and brave enough to defeat the tyrannous Soorapadme - the meanest and most powerful of the Asuras. Armed with a Nyanya Vel (golden spear) presented to him by Lord Shiva, Lord Murugan went into battle with the evil force. A fierce battle ensued. Finally with one fatal stroke, Lord Murugan slayed Soorapadme. The divine converted one portion of the slain enemy into a peacock as his vehicle and the other portion into a cock adorning his banner.

Lord Murugan, the son of Lord Shiva is considered the very manifestation of valour, beauty, youthfulness, vitality, masculinity, valour and the abode of happiness. Thaipusam celebrates the very essence of Lord Murugan and the power of good over evil.

This is a large pendant I assembled, featuring a detail from my painting 'The Hapless Prince'. This painting is special to me because it's when I really struck a chord with my digital collage first, and the painting won a Daily Deviation :)

This will be blogged soon ;).

Great sadness had descended upon Gravesend when rumours abounded that Gilbert O'Sullivan had been found and had agreed to perform sickly and mawkish songs for some time, Gravesend would never be the same again.

So it was that John went to The Magic Chamber and said The Word that needed to be said, in moments such as this, and as if from nowhere did come Judy, from Planet Claire.

Another dark day for photography. Burgled again and three cameras stolen and Lina's laptop. Sadly, the little shit took my 1971 rangefinder Nikkormat with the quite beautiful f1.4 50mm Nikkor lens. Emotionally irreplaceable, albeit something very similar is available on eBay for about £150. A couple of weeks later the police caught the (allegedly) hapless thief redhanded and he 'fessed up' to our break in. Sadly, the Nikkormat and everything else was long gone.

She was married, but the hapless bridegroom was killed in a horse & buggy accident on the honeymoon. She returned home, placed the dress in a chest and it’s been there ever since, until the home was finally emptied for an auction sale of all the contents over a hundred years later.” –vinteageaffairedamour, August 16, 2010.

High above me to the left were two bald eagles, the one shown here and another, lower down in the adjacent evergreen tree; straight ahead and slightly below me was a tree with at least one juvenile raven (calling distinctly as they do) that was shortly joined by an adult. Although I could not hear the ensuing raven conversation, it went something like this: "Hey kid, wanna go have some fun? Let's harass those bald eagles up there! Follow me!"

The eagle in the other tree departed post-haste, but this eagle, clearly visible to me (but a little too far for very clear shots) stood its ground while these two, the adult and fledgling ravens, dive-bombed and swooped and screamed at the hapless eagle that had only been minding its own business.

A stone depicting the fate of twenty year old Ann Morgan who died of a snake bite in 1835. She is depicted asleep against an urn, the repository of the soul; above her an oak tree with acorns which could represent hospitality, stability, power or victory; or perhaps she was bitten under an oak tree? The offending snake is seen slithering up towards its hapless victim, doubtless calling the serpent of the Garden of Eden to mind. The stone is double panelled, popular in the 18th and early 19th Centuries. Unfortunately, lichen obscures the doubtless interesting epitaph.

St Tysoi's is believed to date from the 14th Century, but much of the fabric of the building dates from the 15th Century; the tower is 17th Century. The font, stalls and pulpit are 19th Century. There is an interesting marker in the graveyard for a young woman who died from a snake bite.

Stop the Pogroms. Ban the VHP. Dismiss the Gujarat CM. .

Events in the country have always had a certain kind of resona.nce in th~s campus. The .re~ction that w_e ~aw on the night of the 28th February 2002 was however, a reaction of an altogether different kmd. The A~VP m 1ts charact~n~1c lumpen ~anner took out a procession in which the most provocative slogans we~e ~houted and wh1ch were a clear InCitement to VIolence an.d revenge against the heinous incident at Godhra. The most objecbona~le slogans hke Khoon ka bad/a khoon se /enge (':f'J.e Will take revenge for death by spilling yet more blood) were shouted and 1t must be noted that as these slogans rent the a1r In the JNU campus the very same sentiments were being enacted in real life in Gujarat at that very moment. What we have on this campus are a band of potential goons and hoodlums whose murderous impulses can be translated into outright violence. It is heartening to note that the secular and progressive voice of the JNU students rose to assert itself in the massive procession that was organized by the JNUSU the following night. The ABVP stands accused of vitiating the peaceful atmosphere and .

communal ~arrnony of the .JNU campus and this was announced to the rest of the country when 'The Hindu' carried a fr t page news 1te?' on the ·~neasy. cal':"' prevailing in the JNU campus (New Delhi, March 2"d 2002). Further, we feel that ~ne ABVP was ta~m~ a frenzied delight 1n the communal carnage taking place in Gujarat. This is evident from the studied silence they have mamtamed for the past two days in which they have not brought out a single pamphlet or condemned th · .

any form. e v1o1ence 1n .

We ha~e.in our mld~t o~ this ca.mpus a potentially destructive force that has already been identified and needs to be weeded out. !his ~~ an or.gamzatlon that IS a part .of the Sangh Parivar. Another affiliate organization of this Parivar, the VHP, has been holdmg th1s nation to the most brutalized ransom by making the most unreasonable, outrightly communal, hi hi condemnable.and ~bsolutely Illegal demand of handmg over the disputed land in Ayodhya to these hoodlums so that ~hey.

can proceed w1th the1r work of temple construction. Y .

The V~P will not see reason ~tall. It will not obey the law of the land .a.nd the BJP; the political wing of the sangh Parivar will see to .it that t~e rule of law IS not upheld. We hav~ seen th.e complicity of the BJP ruled government in Gujarat and at the centre rn en~unng th~t absolute chaos and .destruction prevails and bands of riotous marauders ruin the state bringing death and destruction that .'s targeted a~ the Muslims, even as the most Important organ of the state, the police looked on. This is clear-cut state terron~m and o~e IS forced to u~derstand the reason why the state introduced the draconian POTO. It is clear that the g~~ernment s. not senous about fightmg terrorism, rather it seeks to exonerate itself by shifting the blame to poor hapless, c1t1zens ~spe~1~lly of. the mi~orit~ com.munity. It is high time that the students of JNU, an institution that is an important component of Indian c1v11 soc1ety, ra1ses m u.mson the ~emand for banning the VHP. It should ~e as clear as daylight to one and all that the VHP, supported by the state, IS responsible for the kind of anarchy that the country has been witnessing for the past few days. The BJP's pussy-footedness in dealing with the situation, seen in its clear cut prevarication in taking any harsh definite and punitive actl~n against those responsible for the Godhra and the subsequent pogroms attests to the fact that th~ BJP in the aftermath of Its resounding el~ctoral defeat is. trying to desperately retrieve a lost situation. The timing of these pogroms and the state support that the noters have rece1ved needs to be seen in a political context in which the BJP has suffered severe electo~al reverses. This. context, in combination with one of the worst budgets, a budget that will hit the middle classes the hardest, Will only serve to alienate this political base. It was the communalization of this base and the cynical use of the Hindutva issue which brought the BJP to power. It Is their desperation to keep this social base intact that forces them to rake up the Ayodhya issue once again so that it offsets the failure on the economic front thereby whipping up a communal frenzy which can only mean deflecting attention away from the BJP's non-performance. We are concerned by the fact that Narendra Modi, even four days after the outbreak of the pogroms, continues to make outrageous statements that rationalize the unforgivable incidents in Gujarat by taking recourse to Newton's third law. However, no political party has clearly demanded the dismissal of the Modi government. Mr. Modi cannot shift the blame of the Godhra incident onto the local Muslims, the Identity of the perpetrators is anyway still not clear. We demand the Immediate identification of those responsible and their punlhment without making the Muslim community as a whole the scapegoat. Further, Mr. Modi cannot deny the fact that it was a failure of his own administration that resulted in the Godhra incident. We need to remind him that his administration did not take the necessary steps to ensure peace when the communal temperature was already very high. The fact that his government was actively involved in ferrying kar sevaks back and forth .

from Ayodhya makes him doubly responsible. The subsequent incidents in Gujarat cast him in an even more malicious light. .

His government has actually aided and abetted the rioters in Gujarat. We assert that the opposition parties (including the Left) .

which have till now not put forward any concrete demands, must make at least the following: (1 )The dismissal of the Modi .

government for (a) the government's active Involvement in raising the communal temperature by receiving and .

sending the kar sewaks (b) the Godhra Incident and (c) the post-Godhra Incidents In which he sided with the rioters, .

(2) the banning of the VHP and the arrest of Its top leadership. It is shameful that after all these. i~cidents the government continues to engage these fanatic hoodlums in negotiations, that too, for the temple and not for conta1mng the Violence. We are completely at a loss to understand at to why the present JNUSU, which has a massive pro-left mandate, has not even demanded the banning of the VHP. It has also done absolutely nothing about the provocative slogans raised by the ABVP, which merits at least a proctorial complaint. .
