A friend asked me to make necklaces for her and her daughters to wear to her wedding.
While shopping for beads together, she found the swirly green, gold and black glass lentil bead, and I worked with that as inspiration, with this as the happy result.
The body of the necklace is a chain made with larger green and black rondelle-shaped beads, gold spacers and black round beads. The beaded focal pieces are peyote-stitch hexagons (15/0 matte black seed beads) with green swarovski crystal beads (4 mm bicones, and 8 mm round) in the center. The larger hanging hexagon is actually two - a larger one on the bottom, with a smaller one the same size as the two flanking hexagons attached to the top..
I REALLY liked how this one came out. I plan on making another one for myself!
(I learned how to make the hexagon shape from Diane Fitzgerald's Shaped Beadwork book)

Another Value Village score. Handmade linen lace, hand-stitched (with TINY stitches) on a linen hanky. And, uh, 99 cents. It's not like I *need* a lacey hanky, but how could I not pick this wee masterpiece up? (And yes, I know, I should iron it for full effect.)

I've lately been inspired by the ancient works from the Minoan and Mycenaean civilizations. The curves that they used in their pieces are organic, fresh, and lovely. I wanted to incorporate some of that beauty into these earrings. The twists and curls add for an interesting style, while the variscite stones add a splash of Spring.
