Made a couple of boo-boos, but it doesn't look too bad for a first try. I made this for my Handmade Gift Exchange parter, Carrie.
Cloth doll made for my niece's birthday. My Astrid doll is named after Astrid Lindgren, one of my favorite children's authors.
Pics from pre-bisection.
Symmetry isn't perfect, and I probably won't even try to get it perfect since I don't have any tools for measuring the bits in the first place... but that is partially why I decided to cut the torso in half now rather than later, because it's difficult to see what's going on while the bust and the bottom are connected.
Boobs are better, but bigger than I think I want them... also still need to work on their shape. Bottom seems smaller than it was in previous update, I think that's partially from sanding but mostly because I bulked up the chest. So I need to bulk up the hips and butt more, now.
I'm entering that awkward place now where I'm looking at as many different dolls that have done the hip-balls fused to the torso type jointing, while trying really hard to not copy any one doll, and do my own thing... But also trying not to go too crazy and do something that's my own thing but completely non-functional. I do see that I need to sculpt my fused hip-balls further forward, though.
And heck knows how I'm gonna make arm joints, man I am totally not even thinking about that right now. Might just finish the bottom half of the doll first.
