This little cream pitcher is at Mom's house. I am not sure where it came from but I suspect it was once my paternal great grandmother's. The little handle is SO amazing, I thought it was perfect for the challenge!
Oops! I missed the deadline . . . we are central standard time zone! Well, anyway! For Smile on Saturday! - handle
storytime with a twist. hope you enjoy.
the rain hammered down in sheets, the wind howling between the buildings, tugging at my clothes as i stood at the mouth of the alley. my shoes sloshed in the puddles, the chill of the night sinking into my bones. i checked the note again, my hand trembling. the address was clear, but something about this place—something about this night—felt wrong.
i had followed the directions exactly. left turn, right turn, down the alley. the light at the end flickered, barely visible through the misty downpour. the location had seemed strange on the map, tucked away in a forgotten part of town, but the recommendation had been strong. he can help, they’d said. he knows things.
but now that i was here, i wasn't so sure. the walls of the alley seemed to close in around me, and the flickering light from the sign only highlighted the shadows. everything felt... off. my heart pounded against my chest.
i glanced down the alley again. no one else. no signs of life. was i the only one stupid enough to come out on a night like this?
i took a deep breath, trying to steady myself, and pressed forward. a rusted door stood at the far end, half-hidden in shadows. i reached for the handle, my fingers cold and slick from the rain. with a quick glance over my shoulder—just to make sure i wasn’t being followed—i pulled it open. i made it on time at least...
to be continued...

This week on Crazy Tuesday: Car detail.
This was quite a hard decision, the chosen was the door handle of a 2021 Skoda Octavia.
Shot with a 55mm micro nikkor.
It was an over and under steal for WWCC's Alex Bonczyk as Miles' Ben Sansaver leaps and extends for the throw from the Pioneers catcher and allows Bonczyk to dive cleanly to the bag. Sansaver couldn't get a handle on the wide throw and Bonczyk extended the steal to 3rd during 1st inning action of the first game Saturday afternoon at WWCC.
It's funny, when I visit the waterfalls , even though there are really impressive falls in every direction, I can't walk past this little fall without stopping to get a few shots. The beautiful swirling curves just seem to catch all the colours of the sky and woodland. I did find out a slight drawback to the wellies though, they are extremely slippy on algal coated rocks. Macro Mondays theme: handle.
The handle to wind up my pendulum regulator clock. Size about 5cm.
Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 + 12mm extension tube.
This Rustic Handle has been taken for this weeks Macro Mondays theme of 'Handle'. It is from an outside log burner and burns nicely on chilly evenings in our garden. HMM
This is possibly the tiniest button in my collection at just 1cm wide (about ⅜"). The centre is pink guilloché enamel and the button itself is made of silver. It dates back to the 1900s. The tin thimble is from the 1920s and the pink cotton from the 1930s. I'm sure the 2 buttons in the background will be making an appearance in their own right before long. :)

Vintage penknife/pocketknife that has found itself in my possession from I know not where or when. The texture of the carved horn handle was my objective and only on examining it closely realised the existence of the stag's head motif. Made in Germany I would guess early C20th.
Cropped to show only 3" of the handle.
