Hopefully acquiring some #handlettering skills so I can spice up my Holiday cards and gift tags, thanks to @SkillpopRDU and the very talented @christybrittdesigns. Skillpop started in Charlotte and recently expanded to Raleigh a few months ago! They offer affordable pop-up classes at really cool Raleigh venues (such as @glassboxat230) and are taught by local experts. So far I’ve attended classes on calligraphy, photography and even first-time home buying. by @kayhens 🎨 #Skillpop #CreativeRaleigh #MondayInspiration #Local #Design #Glassbox / on Instagram www.instagram.com/p/BNqEKP4BZT0/

[[ CREAM SHOP. Coney Island. ]]
The front of this notebook features one of my TTV photographs of the handlettered signage of a Coney Island boardwalk treats stand.
TTV stands for "through the viewfinder," in this case, that of a vintage, square format camera. This gives the images a retro feel and a variance in focus that isn't common to straightforward digtal photography.
The back, interior covers and spine reinforcements are made with hot pink lokta fiber paper. Lokta is a renewable resource.
The textblock is made from 60lb, bright white drawing paper. The paper has a good amount of tooth and can handle ink, pencil and many other media.
