Watchmaker, watchmaker, make me a watch

Make time go slower but never let it stop

And speed up the ticking when the going gets rough,

'Cause to me all this trying it'll never be enough.

A Steve Knight smoother. This plane is one of my favorites. Steve made it himself. Last I heard, you can only buy kits from him now. His web site stinks, though.

For those of you that don't know much about woodworking, these are handplanes that are used for surfacing wood by hand instead of with loud noisy dust-producing machines.

Learning the proper use of this hand tool may help to ease the stress and fatigue that can be caused by the overuse of other hand tools.

This is what happens if you leave your trowel in the garden and completely forget about it.

Crazy Tuesday, Hand tools

We silly quilters call it "Frogging"!! When we make a stitching error and it has to be torn out and done again, we "Frog It" ( You know, " Rip it, Rip it!!!" ) More correctly, this is called a stitch ripper. It is SOO much safer and easier to use than scissors. Macro Mondays' prompt this week is Hand Tools. HMM!

THANKS TO ALL WHO "FAVED" AND COMMENTED. YOU ARE ALL VERY KIND! HMM

As a former sparky (electrician) this is the first hand tool that came to mind!

From my cycle tools. Never leave home on a ride without them.

Haven't used this for decades. Computers just make it too easy. But I won't get rid of this...it may come in handy some day

I often use this on my hands.

Thanks for all the views, comments and Fav's.

One end of a hacksaw. I like the way the teeth of the blade have been captured.

These are my hand tools at arms length so I can access them at any time although I think they might need a sort and a wash!!!

Macro of the blade, mouth and sole of my hand plane (Stanley No.10). Rather well used, used to be my Grandad's. Still works fine and has a pretty nice flat sole. Well, it does until you take a macro shot and see how scored it is, and that blade has a pretty pitted edge: I should sharpen that again before next use!

Shot with a standard 18-55mm lens with a 20mm extension ring, tripod mounted with a ring light and external shutter.

Thank you for taking the time to view my photo, and for the faves and comments you make, thank you!

Wasn't sure what tool to go with and got wondering what part of a tool to use that would fit the dimensions. Then it was obvious....the tool used to measure the dimensions! I did use another tape measure above this to help keep to the 3 inch rule. it would be embarrassing to fail that one with this subject matter but fairly sure this is just a tad under the 3 inches! HMM!

IKEA ships millions of small allen keys with its flat-packed furniture, but is developing alternatives that avoid this. The fact that I have dozens of them says something of how much stuff we've bought from IKEA over the years.

This image, taken for Macro Mondays' "hand tool" theme shows 15 of them. I didn't have time or patience to perfect this composition as much as I'd have liked but I'm pleased with the overall effect.
