I recently completed another wood carving. A kind of commission at the request of a friend. He wants to gift it to his Sensei to hang in the dojo (karate school)
A simple design but not easy! Slight added pressure (self inflicted) because the friend is a joiner and no stranger to wood carving. A couple of decades ago he carved a rocking horse which came second in a national competition! I was flattered to be asked and as it turned out, he was delighted with the 'dojo' carving. Job done!
Thanks for the Handtool Texture 'XEN'

Another view of this fun-to-photograph hand drill.
Subject
An old hand-drill. I keep it on my boat so that I don't have to rely on battery power in case of emergency. Hand drills have saved my bacon more than once when sailing.
Lighing
It's the Sun. Really, really bright South Florida sunshine!
Lens
SMC PENTAX-FA Macro 100mm F2.8
It's a great lens for macro work, and a darn sharp telephoto to boot.

Lovely Janelle at the Sexy Power Tools photoshoot in my garage on 10/5/19. Very fun shoot. Janelle did her own hair and makeup.
The main light was a DigiBee800 camera left, fired into a small, gridded Chimera strip bank, set to about 1/2 power. The fill light was a DigiBee800 camera right, fired into a medium, gridded Chimera strip bank, set four stops dimmer than the main light. The hair light was a Canon 550EX atop my water heater fired at 1/128 power, and the flash head zoom setting was at 70mm. All lights were triggered with Pocket Wizards.

A shot from my woodworking workshop (my wife still believes it's a garage for cars!). Some Lie-Nielson's among them. See Lie-Nielson's web page here: www.lie-nielsen.com/. These are modeled after the old Stanley planes.
I also have two wondeful Steve Knight planes ( knight-toolworks.com/ ) which don't fit on these shelves: www.flickr.com/photos/question_everything/3566083287/. I don't know why but I truely love the wooden planes, maybe more than the more expensive metal ones here......

These are stored in a small area behind some drawers. The drawers are on the other side of this bench. I used the gap between the back of the drawers and the back of the bench for these small utility shelves, or boxes.
Macro of cuban cigar label, Used Canon eos 1200d + nikon ring adapter +Nikor telephoto lens + 10x macro lens, so got some beast size belt there. It was on the window - so some natural light here and there. Impressive veins on tobacco leaf like on pumped up biceps.
Week 24 - Father
None of the Dads I came in to contact this week felt like being on the business end of the camera, so I thought I would capture something that reminded me of my dad.
I've always admired my Dad's ability to create something out of nothing. Armed with a hammer, some nails, a few 2 x 4's, and absolutely no plans or blueprints, Dad would set to work. Suddenly, we would have an enclosed porch on the shady side of the house, or a barn/shed in the backyard where just a day ago there was nothing. His natural gift of being able to envision something (An actual, physical, real, SOMETHING!) then bring it to life and give it form, shape, and purpose will always be amazing to me.
Dad, I may not have inherited your skills with tools, but you taught me by example about hard work, dedication, and absolute devotion to your family.
Happy Father's Day to my all-time favorite craftsman.

The tools are organized and arranged for quick access by the Carpenter. Dark in the barn where this is, I used a 50mm f1.8 but still had a little grain.
