churned up Florida’s east coast. The storm was
devastating for our neighbors in the
Bahamas, though. We pray for them...

This is the "Bishop" from my brother's Cowboys & Indians chess game that he made years ago. He took some of his childhood plastic Cowboys & Indians, handpainted them, and set them on a chessboard that he also made in his woodshop. The pieces are 3 inches tall, with the exception of the "Knights" and the "Castles" which are taller. And since it was rainy/snowy on Thanksgiving Day, I set him in a potted plant near the window.

My artistic nephew painted the masks himself to co-ordinate with the costumes. He is so talented. In addition to drawing and painting, he carves, and makes jewellery. Each time he visits he has someting new to show me....

this cake was a very large expansion of a display cake I had done in light blue and brown. the pattern was inspired by a pen-and-ink floral notecard.

Painted sign for the Victoria Bar, 143 North F Street, Salida, Colorado. This building dates from 1900 and was originally a hotel. Over its history, it has also been a grocery store, meat market, and billiards hall. In recent decades it has been The Victoria Hotel and Tavern, and was a hub of Salida's live music scene. In 2020 the business closed due to Covid19 and was put up for sale.
If you're like me, you LOVE sushi. These cookies gave me the challenge of simulating 3-D sushi shapes on 2-D cookies, and I had a blast making them. Each cookie is hand painted on top of royal icing. Tasty (non) fish!

I used a toothpick for the first layer of silver, then used a brush to paint brown over the whole chip when it dried.
