The boys and I decided to try our hand at puppet making. They designed them and I helped Gideon sew/assemble his and did most of Toby's. It was a learning process, but I think they came out pretty well! I sort of want to make more already.
While surfing today, I came across Penny Black Saturday Challenge This weeks challenge is a lovely sketch by Pauline. Here is my take on it.
Lots of different stamps here... two Hero Arts, one Inkadinkado and two Penny Blacks (both from the same set)
HA stamps ~ Design Fabric cling stamped in Pumice Stone on the watercoloured paper and Envelope Pattern stamped in Brilliance Twilight onto the pink card. ( Such a wonderful subtle background) The Inkadinkado flourish is also stamped in the Brilliance ink. The birds and sentiment are from Penny Black Enjoy Life. I coloured them with Faber Castell pencils and Gamsol and distressed the background with Faded Jeans distress ink. The flowers I made using two tones of purple paint chips and two Spellbinders dies. The leaves die is from Sizzix. So quite a mixture of bits and pieces used.
Here are some more 2.25" pocket mirrors I made. This one is Radha Krishna. Perfect size for your purse or pocket and it comes with a nifty little pouch to protect it. Great Mother's Day gift!
A brief update on this year's sock knitting adventures so far.
All of these socks are knitted from the cuff down on double-pointed needles.
The heels in two of the pairs featured are worked the traditional way. For the third pair of socks in this round-up (the stripy sock) I tried a new technique, in which the heel is created by simply working increases and then decreases. There is no need for a heel-flap and no picking-up of stitches.
