I am not a vegetarian. I do like chicken. I love eating chickens. I have no real explanation for the lettering reflecting the opposite opinion, other than my girlfriend thinks less of chicken, and more of veggie foods. Acrylic on wood slab.
As cliche as it sounds, I think that the movies: Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Nightmare on Elm St. are the epitome of the Halloween season. I try to watch at least one of these movies each year to put me in the mood for one of my favorite holidays, nothin’ like a good old slasher film.
An illustrated guide of "Modern and Historical Typography", from 1948 by Imre Reiner. The first edition was published in 1944. The book has many fine examples of historic title pages, calligraphy, bookplates, labels, billheads and other ephemera, including some nice work of Reiner's as well.

It was a warm summer day. We were staying at a friends cabin in Sierraville. Our 3-year-old wanted to explore trains. On our hunt for trains, we came across this old railroad yard. It had all kinds of old trains with tons of character and stories to tell. He got to climb onto them. It was the perfect afternoon.

So the days are already getting shorter… this is depressing. Before we know it we’ll be having snow storms and waiting for warmer days. At times I wish I lived in southern California where I could surf every day and experience the endless summer… must be nice.

Using lettering paint to "back the gold leaf up" This is done on the back of the glass and makes the gold stick. (only where the paint is applied) The rest of the excees gold is wiped off with cotton
I was responsible for hand-lettering the Weekly Specials inserts ( which unfortunately I never saved !! ) for this Menu. This Menu for the Checkers Cafe located inside the Tredway Inn in Paramus, New Jersey was very creatively designed as a Vinyl Record Album,with an actual Vinyl Disc inside that listed the Desserts and Pizza creations available.
The nice thing about this was that I was working as Hotel Supervisor there and also got paid for my hand-lettering every week, and to top that off was the perk that I could order anything I wished from the Menu - free of charge ! So many choices, such little time.....
